House of the Diocesi di BergamoThis is a fine choice for anyone wanting to stay in northern Italy. There is proximity to winter sports, great hospitality and you will be staying in a lovely little town - a highly recommended monastery.In Winter, the area is ideal for those who wish to go skiing, with plenty of runs nearby for all skill levels. In the warmer months, the hills are transformed into a lush green environment, making them ideal for hiking to gain a view of the stunning area from up high. The town is on the southern side of the San Marco Pass, a road built in the late 16th century by the Republic of Venice. The town of Mazzaldo is a typical, charming Italian town. There is a lovely old building in the centre of the town which still displays the Venetian coat of arms, which has been there ever since the area was part of the Republic of Venice, which gives you an idea of the history of the town. The main church in the town is a lovely 16th century structure dedicated to St. John the Baptist, and has a wonderful black marble altar. The gradens surrounding the accommodation are either a lovely green colour, ideal for a nice long walk, or are covered in snow, which is just as beautiful. The dining room at the monastery is a perfect place to experience some local cuisine in warm and comfortable surroundings.
