The pristine surroundings create a calm and relaxing atmosphere, the rooms are delightful, the cellars and Rose Bed are a marvel and the hospitality is second to none. An exceptional offering awaits you.

The lodging is not too far from the city of Udine, which has many fantastic attractions. Via Mercatovecchio is a street in the city centre, lined with shops, restaurants and cafes to keep you entertained. The town hall in the main square of Udine (Piazza del Liberta) is a fascinating piece of architecture and has been around since the 19th century, after the original was destroyed by fire.

Absolutely loved Abbasid Di Rosazzo! The location is stunning and it is so peaceful. We were greeted by the friendly woman who takes care of the rooms and breakfast. The Abbey is located on a hillside in the vineyards, so you must have a car to reach it. Set your maps destination as Rosazzo and you will see the large, white Abbey. Located within driving distance to Cividale, Udine, Monfalcone and Gorizia. A true monastery experience. Highly recommend.

This monastery is operated by the Archdiocese of Udine.

The lodging is well known in the area for its extensive garden, known as 'The Rose Bed'. There are many varieties of roses there, surrounding a path that you can take a relaxing walk down on a nice day. The wine cellars underneath the monastery are an outstanding sight to see - they are the oldest cellars in Friuli, dating back to the 13th century, where they were used by Benedictine Monks to age their own wine. The convent offers spectacular views to the surrounding mountains, the valley below and the Friulian plains.

Mass is held at 6:00pm on Sunday.

Being a monastery famous for its wines, there is no better way to experience a glass than in the dining room over a lovely, fresh meal. Varieties of wine served include Ribolla Gialla (white) and Ronco dei Benedettini (red). The wines are produced, aged and served right at the lodging, and when enjoying a glass over dinner, can be perfectly matched to your meal to get the most out of it.

Situated outside of the centre of Manzano, this monastery offers a peaceful stay in a relaxing environment. The monastery is perfectly situated, with protection from the hills nearby offering a mild climate in a natural environment. Driving is highly recommended.

General Transport

History

The monastery was founded in 1090 and reflects European religious culture throughout the ages. Its historic heritage is tied to the Patriarchy of Aquileia until 1751. In time the monastery was passed to the local diocese that offers accommodation for travellers, and has since been maintained beautifully to offer you an outstanding stay.
