This has been a wonderful experience. Thank you.
Chris - South Africa, South Africa (October 2022)
The level of care and kindness we experienced was exemplary. My youngest daughter was unwell with a migraine and the nuns made provision for her to rest quietly even though we were due to check out. Our room was beautiful and we had the lost wonderful view. At breakfast we had been given our own family table, reserved for us. At every stage we were met with individual attention and thoughtfulness. It was a really lovely time for all of us. Thank you so much.
Jojo - , United Kingdom (October 2022)
Fantastic location on the lagoon with a large garden but maybe a little difficult to find on your first day .
Nuns could not be more helpful . Someone always there to open the door .
Very high standard stay for the price and ideal for a small group .
perfect location to access from Fundamenta Vaporetto which is first landing from the airport .
Westminster - , United Kingdom (October 2022)
We had such a wonderful stay at Casa Cardinal Piazza; perfect accommodations for a one-night visit to Venice. The Piazza was clean and safe, the staff and sisters were extremely pleasant and helpful, and our room was clean and well appointed. Thank you for helping make our stay in Venice so pleasant.
Elizabeth - OH, United States (August 2022)
A lovely location, especially the peaceful garden and a great setup, with efficient and helpful staff. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast.

Brigitte - , Germany (September 2021)
I had a lovely stay at Casa Cardinal Piazza. The nuns were warm and welcoming. The room was immaculate and had everything I needed. It is conveniently located just around the corner from a vaporetto stop. I hope to return.

Fantastic location, gardens, breakfast. Comfortable room. Very kind hosts. We would consider staying at a monastery again on future trips! It was a wonderful experience that was very memorable.
Illoana - BC, Canada (September 2019)
The Sisters are very welcoming. Beautiful garden and courtyard.
Anne - ON, Canada (May 2019)
A lovely quiet location on a very pretty fondamenta. A clean, basic room with helpful Sisters. If you are looking for a cost effective way to experience the city from the 'inside' this is a great place - it even has a garden which is a rarity in Venice!
Corina - EastSussex, United Kingdom (February 2019)
Casa Cardinal Piazza is a lovely building located in a quiet beautiful part of Venice. The nuns were incredibly kind and helpful and we had a wonderful stay.
Fiona - , United Kingdom (October 2018)
It was our second school trip and it was a pleasure to return. The sisters were very helpful and made us feel at home. They assisted us with so many little issues and nothing was too much trouble for them, bless them. One student fell ill, and the nuns were there to assist, for which we are most greatful. The rooms have been upgraded recently and the monastery and rooms were spotless throughout. The Monastery must have the largest private garden- oasis in the whole of Venice. Great spot to relax. Quiet location, away from the crowds. Comfortable walking distance to Piazale ROMA, Fondamenta nuove, and San Marco. I would certainly return, as a solo traveler or with another school group. Thank you.
Milt - Surrey, United Kingdom (October 2018)
The monastery has a beautiful, peaceful garden. It provides good breakfast and staff are nice though a few staff can speak English. Room is clean and quiet.
Park - Seoul, South Korea (June 2018)
Delightful
Jonathan - SC, United States (June 2018)
Everything was absolutely wonderful !
Mother superior and all the other nuns were very accommodating, doing all what is possible ( and beyond ), to make our staying there highly pleasant and comfortable !
We will certainly ( and gladly ) come again !
Rony - , Israel (February 2018)
Venice being Venice requires a lot of walking and hence pulling bags to get to accommodation. But convent hospitality was typically warm though perhaps a little less organised than the other convents we stayed in. Lovely garden and very quiet area.
Marieann - NSW, Australia (October 2017)
Gracious welcome and well-equipped rooms. Good WiFi.
Robert - CA, United States (October 2017)
Very friendly and helpful sisters and staff.
Adele - BC, Canada (October 2017)
Was very much as expected. Everyone friendly. This location was in a nice quiet location a little off the main path but nowhere is very far to walk in Venice. Beautiful garden.
Mary - Prince Edward Island, Canada (September 2017)
We had a lovely stay- the nuns were very helpful and welcoming, bearing with our rubbish Italian, and some of them speaking very good English! The coffee machine is lovely, as others have said, and the environment feels lovely and calming. I went to a service too, and the nuns gave me an English translation, which I enjoyed. Would recommend!
Eike - Oxfordshire, United Kingdom (September 2017)
We had a very nice reception from the nun. We had a corner room, so 2 windows in the room and 1 in the bathroom which made the room very bright. We had a view of the garden and the canal. On the plus side, it was very quiet. Breakfast was acceptable and the coffee was fabulous!
Marthe - Quebec, Canada (September 2017)
It was a very elegant, kind-hearted and commodious stay - just what we needed. The sisters were very kind and made every effort to ensure we were comfortable and well taken care of. The location being in a quieter part of Venice suited us very well, and the basic but nicely situated and perfectly sufficient room was a delight. The garden was really lovely - our son enjoyed watching the nesting doves and a place to run around a little and be safe.
My only request would be if it would be possible to have some type of screen against mosquitos? We needed the windows open for ventilation, but the bugs could get a little bad.
Thanks so much.
Joshua - ME, United States (June 2017)
This was a lovely monastery stay. I stayed here with my daughter. We were so glad we chose it. When we were in Venice 5 years ago, we stayed at a monastery closer to Piazza San Marco, but this time we were glad to stay here on a quieter part of the island. We were pleased with the beautiful garden area outside that offered a welcoming retreat after lots of walking and sight-seeing. It was also very easy to get the boat to Murano from here. We were happy to find that many good restaurants were within easy walking distance from the monastery. It was not a terrible walk to San Marco, either--so don't be put off by the distance. The rooms are clean but spartan--which was fine for us. Big shuttered windows open onto the garden below for a beautiful view. We had a bit of a problem with the hot water the first night, but that got better when they worked on it and we also learned the direction of the hot water! It was so nice to have breakfast every morning in the dining room--simple, but adequate--usually fruit, yogurt, cereal, bread, etc. The most WONDERFUL treat was a restaurant-style cappuccino machine right in the dining room. That got us off to a great start every morning. We also enjoyed meeting other travelers there in the morning. The only challenge staying here is that there is only one Sister who speaks English, so be prepared to use your Italian dictionary and a lot of gesturing if you have a need. We actually managed just fine, and it's only a problem if she is not available. The sisters were all very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place as a little hidden gem for the traveller looking to get away from the typical "touristy" hotel experience. It's also great for women travelling alone or together as it feels very safe and protected.
Anne - CA, United States (June 2017)
I enjoyed my stay. Thank you.
Laura - NY, United States (May 2017)
The stay at this location was quite nice. We were very pleased with the room and the assistance we got from the sisters.
Kathaleen - MD, United States (May 2017)
The nuns were lovely and the rooms were fine and good value for money. I was particularly impressed with the number of single rooms they can accommodate. I will be back with my group.
Alex - Essex, United Kingdom (May 2017)
The nuns are lovely and I appreciated having a quiet room overlooking the garden.
Bridget - , United Kingdom (April 2017)
We enjoyed our stay very much. Accommodation was simple, as we expected, but very adequate. The rooms were very clean and the sisters were always helpful and hospitable. The site was attractive with a peaceful garden at the rear. A walk of less than 20 minutes got us to the Canale Grand. Nearby, on the Fond. della Misericordia, are several very adequate trattoria.
A great venue for a wonderful holiday.
Geoffrey - NorthLanarkshire, United Kingdom (March 2017)
We had a lovely holiday in Venice. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and in a super location. The views from our windows were spectacular, the gardens were lovely and the wifi worked very well. The sisters were very kind and helpful and breakfast was very nice. We were close to the vaporetto stop which was convenient for the airport and Murano. I would certainly recommend a stay at Casa Cardinale Piazza if you go to Venice.
Antoinette - Dublin, Ireland (March 2017)
The sisters are very helpful and accommodating.
Janice - PA, United States (February 2017)
Lovely area, quiet and residential but quick easy walk to everything. Very easy from airport via orange line water bus. Sisters very helpful. Lovely garden which would be nice in Summer
Hayley - New South Wales, Australia (December 2016)
From beginning to end, this was a great stay. A few minutes away from the busy canal ways and a ten minute stroll from train station. The sisters were very gracious and accommodating, breakfast was the usual Italian style. Ask for a garden view, a nice place to retreat to after the busyness of the tourist schedule.
Andrew - NS, Canada (November 2016)
A delightful place to stay, in a quiet characterful area of Venice. The beautiful garden is an added and unusual bonus for this property. Very handy for the Alilaguna waterbus from the airport.
Anne - Victoria, Australia (November 2016)
The atmosphere was really nice - the nuns were very helpful, and it was great meeting people at breakfast from all round the world.
Gillian - , United Kingdom (October 2016)
Mother Superior & Sisters were all so helpful and friendly! Loved my stay!
Abelardo - TX, United States (October 2016)
Wonderful location, away from the main bustle and easily seen on the map, thank goodness. Simple but airy and comfortable accommodation with big windows overlooking the gardens. Lovely hospitality from the Sisters - thank you!
Hannah - Isle of Man, United Kingdom (September 2016)
The monastery was a great place to stay. For us the location was perfect. We knew the location from a previous stay in a monastery in the same area. The general atmosphere was wonderfully peaceful and pleasant. It was a 'refuge' after a day packed with tourists.
The sisters are very nice and helpful. As I speak Italian the communication went very smooth. The older sisters only speak Italian.
We really enjoyed the breakfast, it was simple but tasteful.
I would highly recommend a stay in this monastery.
We will definitely return again.
Ria - , Belgium (August 2016)
This was an amazing location.
Very friendly.
Our room was at the front overlooking the canal and appeared to be an old ball room or something of that nature, with beautiful high ceilings.
However, they still managed to make us feel welcome and seemed to cope with my attempts at Italian.
Lovely, large garden and courtyard as well, and a good location within a few blocks of cheaper, local restaurants.
Peter - Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom (July 2016)
Casa Cardinale is in a quiet area of Venice but close to the vaporetto system. The gardens are lovely but you can't sit out too much past 7pm or you will be bit by mosquitoes. This is a city issue, not the fault of Casa Cardinale. They did offer an insect repellent plug in with new inserts in my room which I used. The garden is a very peaceful spot early in the morning. The bathrooms are updated and breakfast is adequate. The sisters are very friendly and helpful.
Mary - CA, United States (June 2016)
It was wonderful thank you. Unfortunately only downside was on the Saturday night a terribly loud party right next door which only ended at 0300 on Sunday morning.. But we understand that is not the fault of the Monastery. Thanks again for a wonderful stay Sr Rosa and Sr Menshi and Sr Jackie were all so welcoming and helpful. I will come back if I can ever afford Venice again!!!
Rory - South Africa, South Africa (May 2016)
A delightful rewarding stay.
John - PA, United States (October 2015)
Casa Cardinale was a great choice and that the water taxi to and from the Monastery Stay was also punctual, efficient and a thrill for the students.
The accommodation was more than adequate and the breakfast was very generous, supplying everything we could have wanted. The location was fantastic as it was away from the tourist precinct and a local neighbourhood and the Nuns were very accommodating. The expansive garden is a rarity in Venice, so this was also a wonderful addition the our experience.
Thank you for your part in making the Venice trip so delightful and rewarding experience for all involved but mainly the students!
Angela - NSW, Australia (September 2015)
I enjoyed the sisters and their kindness. The place was very clean. The garden was beautiful. I very much liked the situation of the monastery.
Margaret - East Renfrewshire, United Kingdom (September 2015)
I was very satisfied with everything. The Sisters were friendly & helpful, the breakfast was great, location super, room very adequate. Would highly recommend and hope to return. Thank you.
Marilyn - NY, United States (September 2015)
The Sisters were extremely welcoming when we arrived, the area was quiet and the large garden a delight. A little far from the centre of Venice but we enjoyed the experience of navigating around the streets and bridges outside the main tourist drag.
Elizabeth - Devon, United Kingdom (September 2015)
Our stay at Casa Cardinale was a joy. The sisters were very friendly and welcoming. Sister Bene was delightful and helped with various questions. Breakfast was simple and adequate. Our room was clean, fresh and spacious with a high ceiling which helped with ventilation. We had shutters and windows that opened out to give us a lovely aspect over the canal and its activities.
We enjoyed the walled courtyard garden and the sense of peace and rest away from the bustle of the city.
Richard - , New Zealand (July 2015)
Our room for four adults was HUGE with a private bathroom and a great view of the Venice canals. Monastery has a great patio area and garden in the back.
Hector - CA, United States (May 2015)
The nuns were wonderful at Casa Cardinale, very accommodating and friendly. We were sad to leave them.
Keith - British Columbia, Canada (March 2015)
Had a very enjoyable stay and the nuns were very helpful, one in particular who spoke very good English. From our quiet room there were great views of the garden and the lagoon as well as amazing sunrises. Thankyou.
Ken - Kent, United Kingdom (February 2015)
very good stay, friendly nuns
vaporetto (boat service as Venice has no car!) nearby (stop Orto) VERY easy to reach, good places to eat nearby, quiet area
Irene - , Belgium (November 2014)
Wonderful accommodations, Sr.Rose was so wonderful staying up for us when we took the wrong way back on the water taxi, missing the 11pm curfew, and arriving at midnight.Nothing could have been better. Loved it.
Lucille - NY, United States (November 2014)
Delightfully quiet location, very helpful and friendly nuns. The beds, towels and linen were all new and clean. A pleasurable stay in Venice.
Jenny - , United Kingdom (October 2014)
Excellent in all aspects, except the lack of wifi is a major problem.
We would definitely use it again next year if it had wifi.
John - Victoria, Australia (September 2014)
Highly recommended!
Mayra - CA, United States (August 2013)
Slightly difficult to find, as is everything in Venice :) They only draw back here is that they don't give you a key to the front door, so you have to ring the bell everytime you go back to the guest house.
Annemarie - Gauteng, South Africa (June 2013)
The service was excellent. The nuns were very kind.
Virginia - Buenos Aires, Argentina (May 2013)
I like staying in a convent: more friendly than a hotel.
Veronica - , Switzerland (March 2013)
A lovely place with a great welcome.
Patricia - Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom (October 2012)
Excellent service by the concierge. Excellent breakfast. Breakfast also served to provide interchange with other guests. Excellent relaxed garden area. Easy access from P. Roma. via vaporetto.
Patricia - Ontario, Canada (October 2012)
Comfortable, clean, affordable; Appreciated the opportunity to attend daily Mass
Patricia - PA, United States (September 2012)
This was our first monastery stay and it met our expectations very well. Despite some language differences we got around this. Clean rooms, it was hot in Venice but the fan worked well and we slept well. Breakfast was good (true Italian style) and a great coffee machine so this got us going. Located in a quiet area but about 5 mins walk to some really excellent restaurants. 15 min walk from Venezia station so handy all round. The water taxi drop off point was 5 mins away and for 30 minutes you could walk to St Marks. Ideal way to have a quiet holiday
Peter - Australian Capital Territory, Australia (July 2012)
Excellent value, particularly for Venice, which can be a costly city to visit. The sisters went above and beyond to accommodate us - one even woke up at 3am the morning of our departure to unlock the doors and make sure we made off okay. Breakfast was much better than expected, based on previous reviews - fruit bowls, yogurt, croissants, a coffee/cappuccino/espresso machine, delicious fresh bread...would definitely recommend it to others.
Aurelia - Ontario, Canada (June 2012)
We enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, the rooms were very clean, and well-kept, and we appreciated the breakfast provided too. We have recommended this to many of our friends. All the staff were wonderful, we will look for this type of stay again in the future! Thank you to our wonderful hosts!
Julia - VT, United States (June 2012)
It was exceptionally good, both location and value. The sisters were helpful and other residents interesting to meet. The garden was a great bonus, where we could sit in the evening. Located in a quiet part of Venice, it was a perfect place to stay. I plan to go again!
Barbara - Jar, Norway (June 2012)
The nuns were not very sociable, we felt like we were intruding. We were not able to open the windows due to 2 factors: the bathroom window wouldn't open at all and the bedroom window must have been by a pond as all 3 of us were eaten alive by mosquitoes. That meant we didn't leave the bedroom window open and it got very hot during the night (we were there in late May.) We did not have a garden view, which I heard was better, but that room did not have a shower curtain. We did have a shower curtain, but water got everywhere anyway.
Katherine - NV, United States (May 2012)
Good value accommodation but bed wasn't comfortable, very old and creaky!
Elizabeth - New South Wales, Australia (April 2012)
Breakfast was laughable. Italian breakfasts consist of a pastry and coffee but even by this standard, breakfast was horrible. Dried out bread and stale prepackaged croissants were the only options served.
David - NJ, United States (February 2012)
Very nice place! I wish there was some kind of internet access if possible.
Baiba - CT, United States (October 2011)
Fantastic place. Great location. Very nice and quiet garden. Excellent restaurants in the area. Outside of the main tourist traffic, but at the same time a short walk to the famous sites. Easily accessible by Linea ARANCIO from the Marco Polo airport to M. Dell’Orto. Breakfast is very simple but the coffee is excellent.
Bjorn - Akershus, Norway (September 2011)
Very nice garden and the building was located in a quiet area in an otherwise very busy city.
Mike - British Columbia, Canada (September 2011)
We loved it. The people were friendly. The only negative were the mosquitoes which were small but persistent - at night only.
nancy - Ontario, Canada (September 2011)
Everything else was fine except the temperature in the room. The room was small but this one at least had a ceiling fan.
Wona - Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (August 2011)
I loved this place, it is away from the crowds which I enjoyed after days of being at St Marks it was great to get out of those crowds and go "home" to our neighborhood. Many fine restaurants in the neighbourhood. Need to sleep with windows closed (bummer) as the mosquito's will eat you alive (only minor bad part). Would stay here again in a heart beat.
Andrea - CA, United States (June 2011)
We were delighted to have accommodation in Venice as availability during Biennial was non existent. Monastery Stays therefore were a Godsend. Thank you. The nuns were charming and hospitable. We were aware of the single bed accommodation but found the beds a little narrow for comfort. As we visited in quite warm weather, the ceiling fan was welcome, but naturally a/c would have helped the sleep quality. The location was very pleasant with plenty of lively dining options nearby. Our curfew did however limit our opportunity to fully enjoy these amenities. The least satisfactory part of our stay was the pre-packaged breakfast. The fresh fruit and yoghurt however are a bonus. We would recommend this accommodation to some friends but know that it would not suit others.
Alan - Queensland, Australia (June 2011)
Beautiful place, quiet location but an easy walk or vaporetto ride to main tourist areas, and very convenient to the lagoon and islands. It was quite hot in our room, though, and there was no fan, though the second room we booked (for our kids) did have one. The breakfast was meager (coffee from a machine, even). But it's a monastery so I guess the spartan lifestyle should be expected. Beds were a bit hard but no worse than the hotels we'd been staying at. It's peaceful, lovely, and you get a good feeling from the nuns and padres.
Alice - MA, United States (June 2011)
I liked the location of the convent. It was easy to access by water bus but away from the busier parts of the city.
Linda - Victoria, Australia (May 2011)
We enjoyed the peace and quiet of your monastery. Easy access to get to city center.
Richard - CA, United States (May 2011)
Very good breakfast!
Anna - MI, United States (April 2011)
Everything worked out perfectly and I was made to feel very welcome in a beautiful peaceful place. I was able to have some quiet reflective time in a very nurturing environment - lovely The gardens are lovely. Room was quiet, simple and clean. The Sisters were welcoming and friendly.
Sarah - Devon, United Kingdom (August 2010)
The simplicity of the accommodation was appreciated. The community was welcoming and friendly, dispensing advice and locations of interest. There were no complaints. If people were looking for affordable, clean, simple accommodation, I would certainly recommend the monastery stay as an option.
Michael - Victoria, Australia (June 2010)
Rooms were pleasing, especially the two that overlooked the garden. The "concierge" caretaker spoke English and was helpful; Mother Superior was a bundle of energy and quite an experience to meet.
Anne - Ontario, Canada (May 2009)
Welcoming - helpful - anxious to please - spacious Breakfast wasn't marvellous. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room would have been a bonus.
Sharon - Western Australia, Australia (December 2008)
