If back in Venice I hope I would be able to stay there again.
Rev William - ON, Canada (June 2024)
Wonderful
katharine - NY, United States (May 2024)
I really enjoyed my stay here. I did have a little difficulty in finding it to begin with, as it is down a little laneway. The room was clean and comfortable, it was in a good location and I was really happy with the breakfasts.
Kendra - ON, Canada (May 2024)
it was in a lovely quiet location and close to both the biennale pavilions.
Angela - VIC, Australia (May 2024)
Breakfast was satisfactory, but scrambled eggs would be nice. My favorite baked item was the morning there were two hard crusted torts.
Thomas - CA, United States (April 2024)
I was very happy with the guest house, the staff were welcoming and helpful. The location is quiet but the is some noise from other guests. Would happily stay here again.
Pauline - , United Kingdom (November 2022)
The rooms are incredible. The front desk staff is wonderful and helpful.

Debra - CA, United States (June 2019)
We have stayed there several times, and will for sure come back. We have also recomended the Patronato Salesiano to others.
Trine - , Norway (June 2019)
Great monastery off the the beaten track in terms of ‘touristy’ Venice, but very easy to access by vaporetto or walking. Excellent breakfast and helpful staff.
Stephen - Nsw, Australia (December 2018)
I loved it! Patronato Salesiano Leone XIII is a great and wonderful place, off the beaten path, yet close to all the important places in Venice, whether one prefers old or contemporary art (Biennale is around the corner). The room was perfect, the terraces next to it - breathtaking, the internet was strong and fast, and nights were peaceful. I loved it! Will definitely come back again.
Anatole - SC, United States (October 2018)
We were a group of 37 people who were visiting Venice as a choir to sing in St Marks and other concert venues. The accommodation was superb, the location was fantastic - near enough to walk into St Marks Square, but equally well positioned to catch the vaporetti and close to restaurants and a supermarket. All the staff were really friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Every single member of the choir enjoyed their stay and are very enthusiastic to return.
Geraldine - Essex, United Kingdom (October 2018)
The Patronato feels more dormitory than other places we stayed on our trip, so it lacks a little of the charm of other monastery stays. The upside of that is it offers more communal space and amenities such as laundry. I was very impressed with the substantial breakfast. The Patronato is a terrific value considering that you're staying in Venice.
Heather - CA, United States (October 2018)
The hotel was very convenient and extremely clean. The room was small, but the air conditioning and the ceiling fan worked great! The bathroom was a nice size. Breakfast was included and was very good. I would definitely stay here again!
David - TX, United States (August 2018)
The key card system was nice because we didn't have to worry about a curfew.
Sara - OK, United States (June 2018)
Ideal location for a visit to Venice - as well as the waterfront, proximity to spectacular sites, there was the Biennale park and easy access to Lido.
Michael - , United Kingdom (June 2018)
This monastery was two vaporetto stops past San Marco, which is close and a short walk from vaporetto stop to the front door. Very convenient. Nice local neighborhood with grocery and restaurants on the Lagoon. Beautiful rooftop terrace for dining and view of the Lagoon. We had use of refrigerator downstairs and room a/c was nice.
Daniel - OH, United States (May 2018)
Great stay, will definitely be back with the the family. Great location to vaporetto and also to Supermarket and restaurants! Keep it up! Will definitely recommend!
Marthese - , Malta (May 2018)
My stay at Patronato Salesiano was exceptional in every way. The location was ideal, the staff professional and always helpful, the room and other facilities left nothing to be desired. I especially loved the peace and quiet.
Thank you for making my stay in Venice so very pleasant.
Martha - Virginia, United States (May 2018)
Very friendly and helpful staff. Good food & facilities lovely area and just off main tourist area so saw real Venice as well
Gregory C T - NeathPortTalbot, United Kingdom (April 2018)
This monastery is very welcoming, from front staff and management to cleaning staff. The room is clean and I got a best view of Venice. the breakfast was excellent . Very near to town (easy walk). No hesitation in recommending this property for overnight or longer stays.
Eden - BC, Canada (March 2018)
Great. I would definitely stay there again. Wonderful for a solo traveller. Lovely rooftop patio. I wondered at first about the location but it turned out to be perfect. Quiet area near the park. It was super easy to get there from the train station on a vaporetto (and in Venice, getting places with luggage can be truly challenging). Breakfast was good. A lovely walk along the water takes you to Piazza San Marco or catch a boat from the station nearby.
Emily - Nova Scotia, Canada (October 2017)
I very much enjoyed my first monastery stay and found the booking process efficient and friendly, and the Patronato itself was ideal for my sister and I who were in Venice principally to see the Biennale.
Ms P M - CO MAYO, Ireland (September 2017)
I really enjoyed my stay at Patronato Salesiano where the staff were all so friendly and helpful. My room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious. It was good to have a room with television and where we could make drinks. However, English people find heating water in a microwave to make drinks a bit difficult and we should have preferred an electric kettle or a coffee machine which dispensed hot water. However, this is a very small matter and did not detract form our very pleasant stay. I would recommend Patronato Silesiano without reservation to any friends wishing to visit Venice. Brenda Harding
Brenda - Lancashire, United Kingdom (September 2017)
Excellent assistant from the team at the desk in particular Francesco and Laura.
A most friendly place, so near the water buses and walks into main areas.
Breakfasts great, the local restaurants and cafes were well worth the visits. The locals all very friendly.
Well done to everyone and thank you for making Venice so delightful
Judith - Dorset, United Kingdom (September 2017)
Excellent value and pleasant and helpful staff. The only thing missing was a kettle in which to boil water. Thank you.
Hilda - Greater Manchester, United Kingdom (September 2017)
Good basic accommodation at reasonable rates. The reception staff were very helpful at all times. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice to suit all tastes and we were allowed to have it earlier than the time stated without any problem. Great location and very quiet but with easy access to the centre of Venice and the Vaporetto stops. Can't find any faults at all. Would definitely stay again.
Glinys - Lancashire, United Kingdom (September 2017)
The whole stay was very good and I found the receptionists friendly, helpful and responsive to any questions I had. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice. The bed was very comfortable, especially supportive for my bad back. The shower was perfect, and so easy to use. I liked having a hairdryer available. I wished there had been a kettle, but the microwave was available 24 hours. A great location - you could even buy food - and eat it at the hotel. There is a large table available and a balcony with lovely views of the canal, to relax. It is only 2 minutes from the Coop and many cafes and shops. Thanks would definitely go again.
Simone - Merseyside, United Kingdom (September 2017)
Would definitely stay again. Having the use of a microwave and fridge in a lounge/dining area was important to me. Also I enjoyed having the rooftop garden. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Patricia - London, United Kingdom (September 2017)
Wonderful place! Simple, yes, but comfortable and easy to reach. Staff helpful. Air conditioning fully functional. Good location - only 20 mins walk to San Marco but out of the way enough to be quiet.
Elizabeth - SouthYorkshire, United Kingdom (June 2017)
Simple, clean, and cool.
Joanna - NY, United States (June 2017)
Stayed 4 nights here. It was nice to be away from the congested St. Mark"s area. Quiet garden park was right by us. We were on second floor, it was very quiet during evening and at night. Room was very clean. Fresh towels daily. Did not have to walk far from Vaparetto stop Giardini to get to Patronato Salesiano Leone!
Carolyn - KS, United States (May 2017)
The location is perfect, in a quiet and very safe area near the Biennale park, but so close to the Giardini vaporetto stops, and of walking distance to San Marco. The breakfast is good and very substantial. Our room on the 4th floor has beautiful view of Venice, it's also very clean, with a good size bathroom and good wifi. My group of 3 loves our stay at this guest house, and we will recommend it to all our friends who want to go to Venice.
Mai - Ontario, Canada (May 2017)
This was the third time I have stayed here. I love the convenient location and the pleasant atmosphere. It is right next to the gardens.
Sarah - VA, United States (October 2016)
Our room was clean and neat and comfortable, staff were very helpful, breakfast was very good, better than anticipated, location was excellent!
Thanks for this opportunity and we hope to come again one day.
Kenneth - Western Australia, Australia (September 2016)
Very nice place, would recommend it! Very friendly staff and nice little room.
Had no mosquito bites contrary to my friends who stayed in the centre. Nice quiet area and nice gardens with sculptures there.
Breakfast ok for continentals of any sort, I know Brits like fried eggs etc.
Coffee is fine, too, you can choose different types incl espresso
Alexandra - Surrey, United Kingdom (September 2016)
Absolutely wonderful. Great location. Excellent staff. Very welcoming. As a female traveling alone, I felt very safe here.
Rose - KY, United States (September 2016)
Very friendly, helpful staff
Lovely breakfast (although perhaps a bit more fruit would have been nice)
Really appreciated being able to make a hot drink using the microwave - some days it was quite cold outside!
Caroline - West Midlands, United Kingdom (September 2016)
A perfect place to stay. Convenient, quiet and totally safe.
Rosemarie - Greater Manchester, United Kingdom (August 2016)
This was my third stay here in the last few years. I had a lovely room with a wonderful view. There was even a hairdryer in the bathroom! I felt every need was catered for - a fridge for general use, drink facilities, excellent breakfast and very pleasant staff. As a woman travelling on my own, I felt totally safe. Also very quiet so you get a good night's sleep.
Rosemarie - Greater Manchester, United Kingdom (August 2016)
Located in a quieter area with local restaurants about a 10 minute walk from the busy tourist area.
Keith - West Midlands, United Kingdom (July 2016)
Location was perfect.
Breakfast was great.
Good value.
Wanda - Ontario, Canada (June 2016)
Peaceful, safe and very accommodating. Enjoyed the quietness and Venetian neighborhood experience.
Linda - WI, United States (June 2016)
Very satisfied with all aspects of my stay. Thank you!
Julia - Essex, United Kingdom (June 2016)
Our group of senior citizens from South Africa found the staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was plentiful, excellent and a much bigger variety than indicated in the info pack.It was indeed a homely atmosphere after a long day in the busy and crowded tourist areas. A few members in my group indicated that they will certainly return on their own. I will indeed recommend this accommodation.
Jacobus - Cape Town, South Africa (May 2016)
They provide excellent breakfast and the staff are very helpful and friendly.
Daisy - Ontario, Canada (May 2016)
We really appreciated the continental style breakfast. Also, we were very pleased with the proximity to the vaporetto stop; this detail should be amplified. Finally, the proximity of the parks and green space to the accommodations was a bonus.
Lisa - CO, United States (April 2016)
Friendly, helpful, we had a very special occasion on New Year as we were invited to the roof top terrace to watch the fireworks over St Marks Square & provided with gluwein on a very cold night.
The staff all provided as much help as they could, answered our questions, pointed us in the right direction & provided helpful advice. A special for breakfast was cakes for the New Year & Sunday.
Belinda - Victoria, Australia (December 2015)
Very good place to stay, away from major crowds yet accessible to key places of interest. Able to walk everywhere. Fridge available for guests as well as tea and coffee facilities.
Margaret - New South Wales, Australia (November 2015)
Good value guesthouse in a convenient and pretty location very close to the waterfront and the Giardini vaporetto stop. Good value, not uber touristy, Trattoria Da Tosi close by on Seco Marina.
Frances - , Netherlands (October 2015)
Our stay there was great. All the staff was really nice and the location is excellent. It is possible to walk or take the vaporetto when going to St Mark's Square and there are several restaurants nearby.
Vera - Victoria, Australia (October 2015)
I would highly recommend this monastery. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was more then adequate. It was clean and neat, as was the bathroom. There was plenty of hot water for showers. The location was close enough to the center of Venice that you could walk, however, far enough away that you weren't crowded by tourists. The local restaurants are just that...restaurants were locals eat and enjoy the beauty of the city. I'd stay here again.
John - VA, United States (October 2015)
The service we received was very good and I will recommend this place to other colleges going to Venice. Especially for those visiting the Venezia Biennale.
Trine - Norway, Norway (September 2015)
Everything was excellent. An added bonus: The breakfast included meat and cheese as well as the other standards. A very, very good value.
John - DC, United States (September 2015)
Excellent staff both at reception and breakfast. Lovely food options for breakfast. Excellent rooms.
Bonnie - Ontario, Canada (September 2015)
Excellent location, comfortable rooms that were spotlessly clean and great breakfast. Helpful and friendly staff. Thank you.
Tracey - NSW, Australia (September 2015)
This is a lovely guesthouse in a neighborhood of Venice that's just enough off the beaten path to avoid the crowds. I loved this aspect. Very nice rooms, elevator and the staff even helped us use the laundry facilities in the attic! Breakfast was nice and quite enough to get us started. Wifi was good and we were given 5 free hours which should be plenty! Thanks so much!! Would recommend to anyone wanting to see beautiful Venice!
Tena - OK, United States (September 2015)
We were very pleased with all aspects of our stay.
Margaret - West Midlands, United Kingdom (September 2015)
The location is wonderful. Far enough away from the hustle of San Marco and with a beautiful garden nearby. Via Garibaldi has excellent restaurants and watching the locals coming home at the end of the day is fantastic.
Highly recommend this venue.
Kylie - Queensland, Australia (August 2015)
Wonderful place to stay. Excellent breakfast. A treat to have roof-top terrace.
Helen - British Columbia, Canada (July 2015)
Only a couple of stops on the water "bus" from St. Mark's Square. Great location. Good breakfast facilities.
Debra - Ontario, Canada (July 2015)
Excellent. Helpful, good breakfast. Wifi limited to five hours for stay was difficult.

Lovely location away from the busy central part of town. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Laura - OR, United States (May 2015)
The stay was wonderful. We enjoyed the local neighborhood.
Ginnie - IL, United States (June 2014)
This is a great place to stay away form the crowds but close enough to walk to St Marks. Would have definitely stayed here again when we plan to visit in 2017 but there were no rooms available for our group. A great way to stay in Venice without the high price tag.
Mrs Andrea - Victoria, Australia (June 2014)
It was away from the crowds of St. Mark's but still very convenient. Breakfast was good, and there were lots of good restaurants around. We were very happy with it.
George - MD, United States (May 2014)
Peacefull location near to the sea and park. Near to a nice walking street full of local life. Very good breakfast and friendly atmosphere.
Both my wife and I were very satisfied with the lodging provided, the helpful staff and the location relative to all points of interest in Venice.
Robert - Ontario, Canada (October 2013)
Priceless advantage of this location is to be away from the crush of tourists who regularly spill out from the enormous cruise ships into the narrow streets. Instead the location is more of a Venetian suburb, with wider 'streets', eateries and shops that were mostly filled with local people, and beautiful gardens to refresh the soul.
Two mins walk to the Gardini and Biennalle stops for all the main vaporetto routes from the railway station to Lido, to the outer islands of Murano etc, and all round Venice. Ten to fifteen mins stroll to St Marks Square along the Lagoon for the best sunset views.
Simple and generous breakfast, rooftop terrace and friendly staff.
Christine - New South Wales, Australia (September 2013)
Very nice people and a very good breakfast with lots of variety.
Mary Frances - NY, United States (September 2013)
The monastery was wonderful.
Robbie - Alberta, Canada (July 2013)
Wonderful people, perfect location, a little hard to find late at night when you're tired.
Paul - CA, United States (June 2013)
Friendly establishment with very helpful staff.
In a residential neighbourhood and therefore a quiet and restful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas.
Useful shops and reasonably priced eating establishments just around the corner.
Wonderful panoramic view from our top floor room enhanced by being next to the rooftop terrace that's available for all guests.
Good and healthy buffet breakfast.
Two minutes stroll from a Vaporetto stop.
Anthony - Essex, United Kingdom (June 2013)
It was a really nice quiet end of the island away from all the tourists. Beautiful view from our room. Great roof top deck. Nice people.
Sandra - MA, United States (May 2013)
Wonderful neighborhood location, away from most tourist activity, close to Vaporetto stops and neighborhood services like a laundry. 24-hour access is a BIG plus in my book. I will stay here for sure on my next return to Venice.
Nancy - NM, United States (May 2013)
Very enjoyable stay and would reccommend.
Dennis Jack - Top Deck Travel - Surrey, United Kingdom (April 2013)
Great location, helpful staff, good value buffet breakfast
Linda - Greater Manchester, United Kingdom (October 2012)
great location away from crowds.
Paul - Ontario, Canada (September 2012)
Thank you, everything worked perfectly
Angela - Essex, United Kingdom (May 2012)
Laura the receptionnist was really friendly and nice, and the priests who worked there too.
The rooms are very very clean.
Breakfast is really nice, it has milk, cornflakes, jam, cheese, spread cheese, bread, nutella... not the fanciest breakfast, but it is really very good...
In short i would defnitely recommend it if you want to pay within 100 to 200 euro ranges.
Mario - Ontario, Canada (May 2012)
Staff were wonderful especially the bella young woman at the front desk who went out of her way to get the information we needed to arrange our travel to the airport.
Maureen - Ontario, Canada (April 2012)
Very nice simple lodgings in a lovely residential neighborhood. Much quieter there, near the public gardens and biennale site, than in the touristy center, but only a short vaporetto or walk to St Mark's etc.
Kathy - NY, United States (March 2012)
We liked this stay very much.
Anna - Victoria, Australia (May 2011)
Excellent location, beautiful area with lot of trees and birds. Quiet area, room was clean, people very warm.
André - Alberta, Canada (April 2010)
Facilities eg internet, included breakfast, key access for after hours entry, Venice maps on walls.
Very pleasant and helpful staff.
jefferson - New Zealand, New Zealand (November 2009)
Clean / bathroom was better than I expected, esp. showerbooth breakfast was too poor (no cheese, no vegetables)
Myeong - , Germany (September 2009)
Light, airy, comfortable. Nice bathroom. Breakfast provided was good.
