This convent is operated by the Suore Terziarie Francescane della Beata Angelina.

The beauty of this venue lies in its location as it lies atop an Assisi hill that overlooks the Saint Francis Basilica. The building's stone facade is typical of an Umbrian guest house. A lovely garden and courtyard complete the picture and give guests a quiet place to relax.

No Mass is held. Guests can access chapel on request.

Breakfast is included in the price.

Features

The traditional feel of this venue and its typically Italian window shutters is mixed with a modern interior, which is clean and well presented. Bathrooms and furniture are particularly new, giving guests a modern stay in a traditional lodging.

Getting Around

Located in central Assisi, inside its historic city fortifications in the San Giacomo qurter. Located on a small hilltop inside the Assisi city center. Well located for walking to central Assisi attractions. Public transport to central and surrounding locations is also nearby.  

History

Following the devastating Assisi earthquake of 1997, this venue was forced to close. After being completely renovated, it reopened in 2002.

	Such a beautiful convent. It was our first time staying in a convent during our travels and it was just wonderful. The sisters were gracious, very welcoming, finally and certainly had a sense of humor. The breakfast was perfect. Cappuccino, espresso, bakery goods, juice and yogurt.Our sister at breakfast spoke very little English and we speak very little Italian but the communication was wonderful. Unfortunately I don't know her name but she was a joy. Would highly recommend this convent to anyone traveling through Assisi . We would definitely stay there again if we were in the area.

	It is a beautiful monastery with a perfect location directly across from the Basilica. Check in was easy. They lost power during the night due to a store but power was restored quickly in the morning. Breakfast was still served and the stay was very pleasant. 	An absolutely unbeatable location, literally across the road from the Cathedral. We opened our second floor shutters and looked right at the church. Sister Adeodata is a whiz with Google Translate and an absolute delight to deal with. Of course the rooms are spartan, you are staying in a convent, but they are sparkling clean and comfortable. It was an awesome way to experience Assisi.

	The sisters were very sweet and helpful. They didn't speak English, but I had an Italian dictionary, so I managed okay. The location is fantastic. I had a view outside my window of the Basilica of St. Francis. It was stunning. The windows didn't have screens, and there was no air conditioning, so I'd recommend they get one or the other. There was a fan, but the weather was so hot in Italy at that time, and I didn't want to open the windows and get more mosquito bites than I already had! The fan did help drown out the occasional noise of people on the street below, which was helpful. Very convenient location to get to the main places in Assisi.

	Thank you to Suor. Clotilde and all the others for the wonderful hospitality! They were so kind and caring. When I said I wanted to come here for rest and relaxation, they perfectly understood. This is the place to go if you want peace and quiet! They were very helpful making sure I had a good internet connection because they knew I needed to work a little bit. My room was clean and comfortable and the view could not be beat! The linens were crisp, the shower was hot, and the bed was comfortable. Oh! And good coffee in the morning! There were mosquitoes and some construction on the sidewalk outside, which were the only reasons I didn't sleep great - but the sisters could not have helped this. It was just my timing. Assisi is expensive - especially the restaurants and lodging - but this price was fair for a private room. I appreciated the kind hug on my departure and would definitely stay here again if I go back to Assisi. Thank you again to the sisters.

	I recommend you ask the bus driver to drop you off at the beginning of the street and walk downhill to the convent. It's an easy walk and beautiful, because the basilica is in front of you (and remember, it's downhill). There is no hair dryer in the room, but I did not ask if there is one at the desk to borrow.

	I stayed in a room just in front of the Basilica of San Francesco so enjoyed the lovely view of the Basilica. Though I would not recommend to stay there during hot summer season. As they don't have vending machines for cold drinks and the curfew is quite early at 10pm, it is not very convenient.

There is nothing like the moment that the taxi turned the corner and I saw the Basilica of San Francesco to my right and the taxi driver turned to me and said "this is Beata Angelina" and he pointed to my left. My stay there provided me with a wonderful balance of spiritual quiet time and travel through a beautiful part of Italy. 	Although not everyone spoke English, they were so warm and welcoming. They gave us a room with the most outstanding views. I have never stayed at monastery stays before but it will be my first choice in the future. I highly recommend Istituto Beata Angelina to everyone travelling to Issisi.

	I like this convent as it is very peaceful and the scenery is really awesome as you can see St Francis Basilica right out of the window. The room is very clean and spacious. None of the nuns can speak English and hence, it is very hard to communicate with them, I will recommend this to people who can speak Italian so that the nuns can recommend you nice places to go.

	We had an outstanding stay at the guest house. The Sisters were all very welcoming and with my sparse Italian knowledge we were able to understand each other. The location could not be beat literally right across from the Basilica of St. Francis. The whole town is walkable so the advantage of this location was the view of the Basilica and the valley below. Breathtaking. We had stayed at guest houses before and knew of the simple set up and this was exactly what we were looking for.

	Firstly, Sister Adeodata is wonderful. She was very helpful in assisting us locate the convent when our car navigator failed and also in providing a special adaptor to charge our phone. She even gave us fruit when we could not locate a store in the town. She was a very kind, helpful and generous host. The convent was very well located. She made us feel as if we were being hosted by family, rather than strangers. I look forward to visiting again.

	While the rooms were clean and with brilliant views, the minimal breakfast was a real issue for me and others who were staying there. Also the lack of any facilities for a cup of tea/coffee or snack. Everything outside of breakfast had to bought and food etc in Assisi can be quite expensive.

	This was a great place to stay. The views of the Basilica and Umbrian countryside from our room were breath-taking. The rooms are ensuite and simple but do the job and they are spotlessly clean. There are outdoor terraces for relaxing, and the location is excellent. The pigeons in the roof are a bit disruptive if you're on the 3rd floor. The Sister who took care of us was a joy.

	The location is perfect: we could look out of our room windows and see the front entrance to San Francisco Basilica. The staff was very friendly and tried to help us plan our stay. Assisi is beautiful. We wished afterwards that we had planned to stay longer in Assisi and less in some other larger cities. We highly recommend this guest house. We recommend the taxi over the bus from the train station as one still has to climb up a hill with their suitcases if going by bus. Taxi should cost about 15 to 18 Euros.

	The shower really left a lot to be desired. The nuns were lovely. Breakfast was left out in the kitchen area. I wasn't sure at first if it was for me or not, as I was not told so during my first night, morning. The door to get in and out of the monastery was quite tricky. My first night, I was not sure I was going to get back in. Finally after 3 rings, I was permitted entry.
