Rated 4.4 out of 5
Very pleasant and helpful staff. Breakfast was more than bread and coffee. We had fresh fruit and juices, cereal, yogurt, eggs, cold cuts and cheeses besides pastries. The garden is lovely and the room was very quiet even in high season.
This convent is operated by the Francescane Missionarie di Maria.
Beautifully restored history wrapped around well appointed and classically presented guest rooms and facilities.
There is a beautiful rose garden with tables, chairs and benches where you can relax.
Breakfast is included in the price and served in the dining room or, during summer the peaceful garden.

jackie - MI, United States (May 2024)
Excellent staff, and they even facilitated 4 am departure thanks to ITA flight time change. Great facility, and garden as well. Neighborhood is also fine w many restaurants around the piazza. Only problem is that if you are on the front of the building, you have some noise coming from the piazza. But windows have shutters etc to cut down on noise and you get a nice view of everything.
Martin - NY, United States (April 2023)
Gorgeous view, fabulous place, all the staff were so helpful and friendly, great recommendations for
walks, restaurants, sightseeing. Highly recommend
Rhonda - TX, United States (September 2021)
We happened to stay at Casa Santo during an extreme heat wave that was unpredictable. With no air conditioning in the room, we were only able to cool down at night with a fan provided and an open window. The staff went above expectations by changing our bed linens every day for us. Everyone, from the desk staff to the breakfast servers, was extremely helpful and considerate. Also, the ability to park our rental car within the grounds was most convenient. I have already recommended Monastery Stays to a friend who wants to visit Florence.
Linda - VA, United States (June 2019)
Wonderful reception. Easy to walk to from train station and very convenient to center, but on a quieter square. Lovely and ample breakfast (the cornettos were a highlight!). Great stay; highly recommend.
Christiana - GA, United States (May 2019)
Great location, 15 min walk from the train station, easy walking distance to all points of interest, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful and historic building, which is well-kept and clean, and is directly on a pleasant, quiet piazza. I will definitely return.
Robert - OH, United States (December 2018)
Lovely calm atmosphere. Great location, easy walk to main sites around Duomo. Close to Pitti Palace and Brancacci chapel. Real neighbourhood, lots of places to eat. Real bonus was the lovely quiet garden where you can relax after seeing the sights.
IM - , United Kingdom (October 2018)

Julie - NSW, Australia (July 2018)
The Monastery was great. The gardens were beautiful. The Service was excellent. The breakfast was served 1/2 hr earlier to accommodate our group. The breakfast was delicious and much more than we had anticipated. The location wonderful.
Diane F. - ON, Canada (July 2018)
The staff at the front desk were amazing at making sure we were comfortable and had information that we needed to make our stay great. They called us taxis that usually came in 4 minutes. The free breakfasts were amazing, the best croissants I've had in a long time and the coffee machine worked very well to make my favorites. It was very hot when we stayed and the room did get warm in the late afternoons...the fan helped. The square which we overlooked got noisy in the late evenings as well. In summary, it was very good value for the price and I would stay there again.
Ann - ON, Canada (July 2018)
Very tranquil atmosphere inside, lovely antique furnishings, beautiful garden.
H B - , Isle of Man (April 2018)
A lovely, peaceful place to stay.
Will - London, United Kingdom (April 2018)
The breakfast staff were cheerful and eager to help, the front desk staff gave great dinner and laundry suggestions, the bed was comfy and the view of the garden lovely. Having the bathroom next door was a small inconvenience, and we could hear neighbors a bit. We did love staying in Oltrarno!
Kathryn M - CA, United States (February 2018)

Peter - , United Kingdom (May 2017)
A very nice stay; the staff is extremely kind and the hotel is near the center in a very charming area
I highly recommend the Casa Santo Nome di Gesu.
Dominique - , France (February 2017)
This was easily the best monastery we stayed in during our trip to Italy. The rooms were well-sized and the beds were very comfortable. The grounds of Casa Santo Nome Di Gesu were gorgeous and the location offered up a nice reprieve from the other side of the Arno. The staff was very accommodating and courteous. Additionally, I loved the breakfast! I want a yogurt and jam machine in my kitchen.
I highly recommend Casa Santo Nome Di Gesu to any traveler who is looking for a real "taste" of Florence life.
Mary - OH, United States (October 2016)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the staff friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was good and set us up for our long days of sightseeing
The front desk staff were extremely welcoming friendly and courteous. They helped us with all of our questions. I would stay here again.
Mark - British Columbia, Canada (June 2016)
My 04:00 taxi pickup departure was pleasantly executed by a very helpful lady. I enjoyed my stay greatly. I used the beautiful garden for relaxation. My stay was more than I expected!
James - Ontario, Canada (April 2016)
The bathrooms are not located in your room, but you do have a key to a private bathroom. The one I had was a wonderful bathroom with a great shower, toilet, bidet and sink. but it is a pain unlocking, locking your room door, then unlocking and locking the bathroom door and then unlocking your room door to get back into your room. This is, of course, because this is a restored space that has been turned into a guest house hotel.
Lisa - RI, United States (October 2015)
Good location, beautiful building, peaceful retreat great breakfast.
Elspeth - Tasmania, Australia (September 2015)

little more than a block from the river. Close to many restaurants. Very clean and nice staff. Felt very safe. Good breakfast.
Julie - MN, United States (October 2014)
Ideal location, wonderful building and garden. We would stay here again.
Michelle - New South Wales, Australia (August 2014)
The mosquitoes were a little bothersome, since we had to have our windows open, but all in all this was a delightful place. The real secret is its beautiful and ancient garden, with a massive wisteria and fruit-trees of all kinds. They also kindly recommended a nearby restaurant, which treated us especially well once they knew where we were staying. We admired their valiant effort to save Jewish children during the war, as well. Since we wanted to visit the Brancacci Chapel, it was super to be right across the street from it!
Kate - TX, United States (July 2014)
Good location, near center city
Paul - PA, United States (June 2014)
The staff was excellent and the room was beautiful! Comfy beds! The only bad point would be that you could hear lots of partying outside the window at night.
Jennifer - GA, United States (May 2014)
Breakfast was very good. The staff was very efficient and pleasant.
Freddy - Kerala, India (April 2014)
Very nice central convent. English spoken by receptionists on main desk.
Edward - MA, United States (October 2013)
Casa Santo Nome Di Gesu was a quiet refuge in a busy, noisy city, with a lovely garden to escape into. The garden was the view from our window, lovely. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. My husband became ill during our stay, it was no trouble to find an English-speaking doctor, make an appointment and call a taxi. A great relief for us, as this would have been difficult to do in a foreign language on our own. The rooms are exceptionally clean, the bath linen, beautiful to behold, is changed daily, beds made. Within walking distance of Florence shops, and sights. But lovely to make your own discoveries in the narrow streets close to the abbey. Restaurants and cafes all within easy reach.
Katherine - New South Wales, Australia (June 2012)
Very nice stay. People very helpful. The only problem also was the lack of internet access.
Felipe - Amazonas, Brazil (June 2012)
We enjoyed our stay here very much. Great location, walkable to most of the places we wished to see.
William - Ontario, Canada (April 2012)
I had a delightful time here. Everyone was very helpful and Sr. Consuelo even got up early (5 am) to wait for the taxi with me. Thank you all so much. It felt like coming home.
Susan - CA, United States (October 2011)
This was a particularly good location and we enjoyed our stay with the sisters.
Denise - Queensland, Australia (April 2011)
The nuns were wonderful & so were Lydia and Patricia, the ladies that work the front desk. This place is in the middle of the city and is very convenient to everything. We had a view of the garden. The place was full when we were there, but it seemed as though we were the only guests because it was nice and quiet. Overall we loved it! My mother stayed for another 8 nights more than I.
Rosie - TX, United States (April 2011)
The beds were very squeaky, but otherwise we had a wonderful stay! I hope to stay there again in the future.
Matthew - IN, United States (December 2010)
Our quad room was lovely, large and clean, but was at the back of the building, right above a busy street, lots of night traffic, not the best for a good night's sleep. Good location, away from tourist areas, lovely old building and garden.
Jeffrey - Western Australia, Australia (December 2010)
Big, airy room in quiet large convent with amazing gardens, an oasis of calm in Florence. Accomodations were extremely CLEAN! Sisters were kind and very helpful during our stay.
Bill - CO, United States (September 2010)
Lovely room - large and exactly right for a family group Very friendly, central, comfortable. Lovely garden. Would not hesitate in recommending. We loved it.
CHRISTOPHER - London, United Kingdom (August 2010)
So hospitable, very clean and peaceful, delicious breakfast, and very close to everything we wanted to see. We had to run back to make curfew one night.
Mary - TN, United States (June 2010)
It was clean, comfortable which is what we expected. It was reasonably central to Florence and so we could walk. Transport was right outside. A number of nuns spoke English which is always helpful. It was spacious,we had our own bathroom and the breakfast was included and although basic was quite nice.
Lynda - South Australia, Australia (June 2010)
Simple, clean, great location, etc. All was good.
Robert - CA, United States (October 2008)
