Customer Reviews
Best location. Great view.
Eiko - , France (May 2024)
Simple rooms but very centrally located with view over the sea from the balcony.
Guido - , Belgium (April 2022)
The place was easy to walk to from the train station and was in the historic part of Cefalu. It was right on the water with the beach right out the front door step. I had a fabulous view of the Mediterranean and had waves lull me to sleep. Loved it!
Pamela - ON, Canada (August 2019)
We have been travelling through Sicily for 10 days and this stay was one our our highlights.
wendy - , Australia (July 2019)
There is no better location than this! Right on the sea and in the historic town. Our room overlooked the sea and we slept with the window open and could hear the waves on the rocks. We saw an incredible sunset from the terrace! We loved this place and would definitely stay again.

It was great! Beautiful, and the sisters were so nice-as was Hermann, the accountant /computer person, so friendly and helpful. The only issue was that we were unable to have wifi in our rooms. It was only available in the lobby, so that was an inconvenience at times. Besides that, I would definitely recommend
staying here to my friends and family.

Great location beside the ocean. Clean and quiet. Highly recommended.
Michele - ON, Canada (June 2019)
Amazing place to stay. Right at the seafront and our window opened directly to the sound of the waves. Two lovely terraces for morning coffee and to enjoy the view. Everything was super clean and the sisters very kind and welcoming. Speaking Italian helps a lot here it is true but I totally recommend this hostel if you are visiting Cefalù

Best location in town!
The rooms were basic but very comfortable and cleaned each day which we did not expect.
It was wonderful to be able to sit on the terrace and see the beautiful Cefalu wind down at the end of the day.
Staff were friendly although very little English was spoken but this was no problem really.
Jennifer - NSW, Australia (September 2018)
A beautiful old convent situated right on the seafront - not even a road between the building and the rocky shore. My single room was basic but clean and comfortable, and the location is excellent.
Pauline - Vic, Australia (October 2017)
Outstanding location right on water's edge. Beaches on the doorstep we had sea views and balcony. The nuns were so helpful and kind. A short walk up the narrow cobblestone alleyways to the Duomo. Highly recommended. A huge rooftop terrace was the place to be for some of the best sunsets in Sicily. Sounds of waves crashing against rocks as we drifted off to sleep was wonderful.

What a beautiful location!! We were thrilled to find this convent in Cefalu sits on the very edge of the ocean, with breath-taking views of the sea below. Our bedroom window opened onto waves crashing on the rocks beneath us, and we were lulled to sleep by the sounds of the ocean. Our room was simple but more than adequate for us. We even had air-conditioning, which was really needed in the very hot June/July days. The marble floors in the hallway shined so clean they sparkled! There are several patios and a large terrace that looks out to the coastline where you can sit and read or eat at tables there. It's really quite lovely. There is even a small beach right outside the door, if you want to swim or sunbathe. There is no breakfast here, but we were shown a small kitchen where guests are allowed to cook. We found lots of restaurants and shops nearby, so finding dinner at night was stress-free. The only really BIG difficulty for us registering at first was that no one spoke English, and the one or two people who seemed to speak a little English did not seem inclined to be overly helpful or welcoming. This was a bit of a surprise, but once we accommodated to the general attitude throughout our stay, we were happy enough. The beautiful setting more than made up for a lack of warmth or responsiveness. I would even stay here again, in spite of that!

The Collegio di Maria di Cefalu was one of the most amazing and delightful accommodations on my two-week journey in Sicily. I wish I could return tomorrow! Thank you very much!
Dale - NY, United States (September 2015)
This was our second visit to the Collegio di Maria in Cefalu. We loved it before and we loved it even more this time. Everything about this convent is our idea of the perfect place to stay, but the best thing of all is the warmth and the love of the sisters who make you feel that you are their guests, wish you a happy day, share in your experiences and laugh with you. (It does help to speak a bit of Italian however!) This is what makes a happy stay. The noisy babble of the little children coming out to play for their break was charming, and the excitement of the visit from the Bishop. We attended mass every morning which was a great start to the day, and helps one to feel part of the community. There was a retreat taking place for nuns from all over the area, so it was buzzing. Some of the visiting nuns sang the Sanctus in Swahili and played drums to accompany the music, it was all upbeat and joyous. Everything about the room, the self catering kitchen, the balcony, the bathroom etc were about as perfect as you can get (one vegetable knife in the kitchen might have been useful and perhaps a slightly larger coffee percolator, and a drying up cloth, but that's a small worry). We were really sad to leave, and hope very much that we'll be back in the near future.
