The city skyline of Casteggio is dominated by a 14th century bell tower, which is attacted to the church of St. Peter the Martyr, which was rebuilt in the 18th century. Another lovely 18th century structure is currently home to the city library and an archaeological museum. In June and July in Casteggio, every Friday night there are street markets, art exhibitions and live music in the various piazzas and main streets, giving you a rich cultural experience. Late August and early September is the time of the year when the local wines from the area are tasted and reviewed in the city, and many restaurants offer the wines for consumption, paired with some fantastic local fare.
