This convent is operated by the Ordine del Santissimo Salvatore di Santa Brigida.

The calm surroundings, away from the smog of city life and still conserving their original character, offer an inviting atmosphere for regenerating one’s physical and spiritual energies.

The conference rooms are well appointed and part of the International Centre of St. Birgitta (Brigida)

The dining room at the lodging serves fine Italian cuisine in a lovely historic setting.

Getting Around

This monastery is situated in the lovely village of Farfa, surrounded by the hills of the Sabine region covered with woods, vine and olive plantations. The small village Farfa is situated amongst beautiful natural countryside. It lies on the descent of a valley, the hills and valley are covered with olive fields and small forests containing pines and cypresses – the trees gives the air a lovely scent of resin. There are a range of walks in the area and local maps are available at the guest house.  

History

The hospitality wing forms part of a larger complex which, since the Middle Ages, has been an important Benedictine monastery which has played a significant role in the spread of monasticism in the West for many centuries.
