Where is the accommodation? Each guest house is shown on the Search screen on a Map of the City/District (indicated by a green or orange Availability indicator) - the Map has a zoom (+/-) control at top right to allow a closer perspective with scale.
Clicking on any guest house from the Map or List view takes you to the full detail of that accommodation, including a further localised Map with reference to services accessible within 500m of the guest house, you can again zoom (+/-) at top right to allow a closer perspective with scale.
Full address and contact details are included in a confirmed Booking Information Package along with dynamic Google Map links and a Directions Fact Sheet.
To search for guest houses by 'Distance from City Center' - go to the Search screen, enter your Arrive/Depart dates and Number of People and then Refine your Search to see guest houses meeting your criteria.
Back to Top What about air-conditioning? Europeans are not as big on air-conditioning as many are. This is primarily because they perceive it doesn't get overly hot in summer, many buildings are thick walled, historic structures.
Where air-conditioning is indicated its operation is governed by strict national energy regualtions (cooling and heating).
All properties in Italy, hotels, restaurants, shopping centres, domestic accommodation, everyone has a limit on operating times and temperature (minimum 27C / 80F) of air-conditioning as governed by nationwide environmental regulations & the European Union, it is not specific to the guest house, they have to comply and the respective municipalities certify that.
The same energy regulation measures apply in all EU countries, it does not matter what price you are paying or where you are staying.

These are the average maximum temperatures (°F / °C) so they represent the peak temperature in the middle of the day. Don't forget you will be spending most of your time in the guest house at night when the temperature will have dropped.
Many guest houses rely upon the older ways of keeping cool eg. fans in rooms, courtyards and thick walls therefore not all monasteries have air-conditioning.

Back to Top Facilities - what is available? Monasteries and convent guest houses are a warm and inviting accommodation experience - a true insight to local life in your destaintion. Your lodgings will be of a standard hotel equivalent (3 star) as rated by us in selecting places for booking through Monastery Stays.
All rooms are booked with private bathrooms. These may be ensuite or privately accessed adjacent to your room (usually depends on the age and design of the building).
Do not expect luxury - that is not a monstery's purpose - expect clean, well presented simple and functional rooms with warm hospitality from your hosts.
