House of the Istituto Piccola Fraternita Francescana di Santa Elisabetta
Casa di Accoglienza Santa Elisabetta D'Ungheria is in close proximity to all that Assisi has to offer. Sit back and relax in the lush, cool garden after a long day of sightseeing. Beautifully presented rooms and spaces in an historic and stunning location.
This venue is very close to Assisi's main attractions - the Saint Francis Basilica and the Saint Chiara Basilica. The Basilica of San Francesco d'Assisi (Saint Francis) is a World Heritage Site. It was built after his canonization in 1228, and completed in 1253. The lower church hosts frescoes by renowned late-medieval artists Cimabue and Giotto. In the upper church there are frescoes of scenes in the life of Saint Francis previously ascribed to Giotto and now thought to be by artists of the circle of Pietro Cavallini of Rome. The Basilica was restored after being badly damaged in 1997 when an earthquake hit the town.

Customer Reviews
I had a wonderful stay. If I'm ever in Assisi again, I will stay here!
Tara - NY, United States (October 2011)
That it is run by religious sisters. I picked this one in particular because I liked their chapel. I didn't realize that Sta Maria Maggiore is just across the road. Blessing indeed. The house is clean and well maintained. That staff spoke very, very little English was a real challenge so next time I intend to learn Italian before I go. It is good that entry and exit is tightly controlled so you feel safe. The food is excellent! It would have been nice to have had a kettle at the room so we can have a hot drink late at night. Also, I think the 9:30 check out is much too early.
MARIA CORAZON - Victoria, Australia (October 2010)
Pleasant Staff. Great location. Clean, quiet comfortable atmosphere. Everything was good.
Kenneth - Alberta, Canada (June 2010)
It was a clean room, and the meals were good. The bathroom in my small room was great, the meals were plentiful and good, except for breakfast. The garden and Chapel were beautiful. Location made for easy walking to everything. Nobody spoke English, so it was difficult to communicate - smiles were scarce. Those who ran the place (not sure if they were nuns) answered questions as best as they could, gave directions, called me a cab. But no warmth or friendliness, except when I first checked in, and the person helped me find my room. It would serve anyone's needs - safe place to stay, etc.
