This monastery is operated by the Santuario di Nostra Signora di Montallegro.

The church makes this such an enchanting and spiritual place to stay. There is a cable car that connects guests to the monastery and the city centre, which runs both ways for an easy way to visit the city below.

Mass is celebrated everyday at 9:30am and 5:00pm. Extra services are held on Sundays at 8:30am, 9:30am and 11:30am.

There is a lovely dining room at the sanctuary, where guests can relax and enjoy a fresh, authentic Italian meal.

Features

The amazing artwork inside the church is by renowned artists such as Luca Cambiaso, Francesco Schiaffino and Nicola Carlone. Local artist Francis Boero is credited as painting the magnificant frescoes on the ceiling.

Getting Around

Sitting up in the hills above Rapallo's city centre, this sanctuary is well located for a peaceful and relaxing vacation. The lodging is perched on top of a hill surrounded by lush, green environment, at the end of a quiet street. Public transport bus or funicular (cable-car) nearby to access Rapallo. The guest house provides a complimentary luggage transfer service from the car parking located below the guest house.  

History

The stunning church at this sanctuary was built in 1559, and ever since has been a major attraction in the area, attracting those who wish to share in a moment of quiet prayer, or just to admire the incredible architecture. There have been renovations and additions to the church since it was first constructed, with the last being a small area next to the church made of marble and slate, which was completed in 1994.

	Nothing was too much trouble for Jean-Luc, the proprietor, and his mother. They were wonderful hosts and our group of six thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This is a special place with an ambience and peace and a connection with centuries of history. There are trails for walkers and an easy ride down to Rapallo in the funicular with access to boat ferries that travel up and down the coast.

	Casa Del Pellegrino is exactly what I was looking for. This quiet post WWII retreat nestled into the hills above Rapallo has been run by the same family for about 40 years. They are kind, excellent cooks and made sure that every need was taken care of. The rooms were impeccably clean and comfortable and it is easy to forget that you are staying in a spiritual retreat. The view alone is reason enough to take the funicular to this very special place - but we loved it so much we added another night! We can't wait to return!
