Rated 4.3 out of 5
I had a wonderful stay. The breakfast that was included was very generous and lovely.
This monastery is operated by the Commissione Sinodale Diaconia della Chiesa Valdese e Metodista.
A building steeped in Venetian culture, with a beautiful entrance detailing the history of the house. Set over several floors with good sized rooms and common areas, there are architectural highlights at every turn, from the grand roof joists, to the preserved frescos providing a glimpse of the origins of the former Palazzo Cavagnis. Rooms are beautifully appointed and very well presented, each with feature details highlighting their location in the historic building.
Mass held on Sunday at 11:30am. Guests can access chapel on request.
Upon request, the friendly staff at the venue can provide you with a tour of the Palazzo and the Waldersian Church.
Twice a week, for 42 weeks a year, guests can also enjoy classical music concerts held by the guesthouse. Charges apply and bookings at venue.
Breakfast is included in the price. There are many dining options within walking distance of the venue.

I had a wonderful stay. The breakfast that was included was very generous and lovely.

Foresteria Valdese di Venezia is very well located in Venice. The staff is extremely helpful, kind and accommodating. The breakfast is nice and served in big common area room that is available throughout the day for guests to use. There is also a locked luggage storage area which is very convenient.
Brigitte - CA, United States (August 2022)
Felt very comfortable in the common rooms; everyone was very respectful of each other.
This location is not connected to the Roman Catholic Church, but the Waldesians, a proto-Protestant group.
Monica - OH, United States (July 2022)
Great location, very clean, good breakfast, high safety. Would definitely recommend.
Michael - GA, United States (September 2019)
Location is not the easiest to find. But it is a common observation in Venice, it is so easy to get lost! Location is near most attractions- St Mark's, Rialto bridge, etc. Breakfast options are somewhat limited. Bathroom is clean but tiny.
Raphael - MD, United States (September 2019)
Great location, close to centre of Venice. Felt safe. Had all we needed.
Julia - Queensland, Australia (July 2019)
It was really great and people I met who worked and stayed there were very nice.
Kris - Queensland, Australia (May 2019)
An excellent, outstanding place to stay. The only reason that it did not get 10 out of 10 in all sections is that it was expensive BUT Venice is expensive and Foresteria Valdese is easily the best place we have stayed in five trips to Venice. The breakfasts were simple but adequate, the dining room was perfect for our picnic evening meals. The room was simple but comfortable. Beds were made for us every morning and towels were changes when we needed them. There is free coffee, day and night. The staff were helpful and friendly. What more could you ask - perfect.
Peter - Nottingham, United Kingdom (November 2018)
It just felt like home.
And I met so many nice people as well.
I am so glad!
Thanks
Denis - Quebec, Canada (October 2018)
As with most monastery stays, the whole experience is a little bit special. This was a fine building in a beautiful location.
David - WestYorkshire, United Kingdom (June 2018)
This place is absolutely amazing. I can't believe that Monastery Stays isn't more widely recognized, or that there aren't more current reviews. We only stayed one night in Venice but Foresteria Valdese di Venezia was absolutely perfect. We were able to check in early after arriving on the night train from Paris. It was a little tough to find the place, but I owe that more to the wandering streets and canals of Venice verses bad directions. Once we found the place, it was easy to locate again and is located right in the heart of the city. All the major tourist sites were a 10 minute walk away or less. We had a 6 person family room, which was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Better yet, it overlooked a canal! The furniture had been updated to hostel style bunk beds, two sets included stairs verses ladders for easy access. The continental breakfast the next morning was a perfect start to the day. I would definitely stay here again, and will recommend to all my friends, family, and strangers.

We loved our stay at Foresteria Valdese di Venezia.
Michael - Hampshire, United Kingdom (April 2014)
Our family thoroughly enjoyed this place! From our arrival to our departure, the staff was helpful, generous, and simply wonderful. If we ever have a chance to return to Venice, this would be our first choice of sleeping arrangements.
Stacy - MN, United States (December 2013)
Great location and friendly staff. A little difficult to locate. Can be noisy at night.
Michael - NSW, Australia (April 2013)
It was very hot when we were there and so had to keep our windows open. We got a lot of mosquito bites as a result. The view from our room was AMAZING
Donna - Alberta, Canada (June 2012)
Cool experience! Would be helpful to let prospective guests know that many of the rooms have extra steps to climb to reach them. We were traveling with a few older adults, and the steps were a bit difficult for them. Liked that we got a key to let ourselves in once the staff was gone. Appreciated the WiFi.
Beth - PA, United States (April 2012)
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found the staff very friendly and helpful
Christine - New South Wales, Australia (April 2012)

Having breakfast provided was wonderful.
JULIE - New South Wales, Australia (August 2011)

Karen - New South Wales, Australia (March 2011)
There were a few things that were good about the monastery where we stayed. The numbering is in no particular order.
1. the location
2. the room and amenities
3. the breakfast
4. the staff were excellent (helpful, polite)
Kym - New South Wales, Australia (September 2010)
Was in a good position, rooms clean and breakfast fresh.
Louise - New South Wales, Australia (September 2010)
Centrally located to all the major sites, very clean and simple.
Sue - VA, United States (August 2010)
Great location, loved having a private WC, room was a good size, staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Having a beautiful 400-yr old fresco painted on the ceiling over our bed was a real bonus! Lots of stairs, but this is to be expected in historic buildings.
Brittany - Ontario, Canada (July 2010)
the room was smaller than expected but the whole place was bigger. The location was great, having the common room was great, the breakfast was ok and most important it was very quiet at night.
Randall - CA, United States (June 2010)
The good service of the reception staff. The possibility of using the dining room. The breakfast is so so.
Mireille Parent - Quebec, Canada (April 2010)
We had a wonderful stay and would recommend thank you very much Location and having an outlook over a quiet canal.
Gabrielle - New Zealand, New Zealand (August 2009)
Good location, adequate breakfast, staff helpful, clean and comfortable room. No lift, so we had to carry heavy suitcases up 2 flights of stairs
