Rated 4.6 out of 5
Everyone at the guesthouse was very friendly and helpful with all of my needs. The room was small, as expected in a monastery guesthouse, but comfortable and had all that was needed (including 2 complementary bottles of water every day). Breakfast was excellent. I stayed 18 days, and if I ever go back to Rome, will try to stay there again.
This monastery is operated by the Padri Generalizia Salvatoriana.
Exquisitely appointed rooms and guest spaces provide for a truly special stay with service to match.
"The Refectory" can be organised as space for a range of functions for up to 60 people, as can the Cloisters.
Breakfast is included in the price. Guests can enjoy a meal or a drink in the internal courtyard.

History
The foundation of this guest house was laid almost at the same time as that of the present Basilica of St. Peter. Built in 1400, there is a rich history as an art gallery, museum, library to today as a guest house. The elegant and expansive library remains with stunning frescoes.

It lived up to our expectations and more! Beautiful place. The breakfast was the best we have ever had at a hotel! Thank you.

We only stayed one night at the Palazzo Cardinal Cesi but I wish we could've stayed more. Our first 3 nights in Rome we stayed at a more affordable AirBnb, but decided to splurge for our last night. We were looking for a place that was close to St. Peter's and didn't have a curfew (many monasteries/convents on Monastery Stays have 11pm curfews). If we come back to Rome I'd definitely save up money just to stay here. You walk out the hotel's front door and you are basking in the glow of St. Peter's. It is just steps away!! It meant so much for us as Catholics to visit Rome and even more special to stay at a historic monastery. The courtyard was dreamy and one evening my husband and his twin brother sat down there and smoked their pipes. The included breakfast was delicious and I was able to find items that were gluten-free like the yogurt and cold cuts. They also had American-style breakfast food like bacon and scrambled eggs, which my husband had. The bed was very comfortable and we could lean out our window and see the Vatican. The lady at reception was very friendly and gave us restaurant recommendations when I asked. They also held our luggage in a locked room after we checked out until we left the city. Again, we would love to stay here again, for a longer period, next time we come back!

Outstanding and comfortable accommodation steps away from St Peter's Square. A beautiful cool inner courtyard. Bathroom a little small. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast.

If you want to be just steps from St. Peter's, I cannot imagine staying anywhere else. The staff was extremely competent, friendly and professional. Full American/Italian breakfast is included. The shower is the size of a phone booth and the bathroom is tiny, yet beautiful and very functional. Our room had an exterior wall and window to the street behind the building. Occasional traffic noise could be heard. I am a very light sleeper and this would not keep me from staying here again. But, an additional set of shutters with weather seals would be a welcome improvement, especially at this price per night. Overall, a very pleasant stay in an unbeatable location. We walked to the Trevi Fountain and Pantheon and nothing beats walking out of the front door in the morning just steps away from St. Peter's Square.

Bathroom was small, but that seems standard also for some hotels. Breakfast was absolutely delightful and plentiful. We very much enjoyed the breakfast offerings. Rooms were VERY clean and we were more than satisfied with the daily maid service.

Palazzo Cardinal Cesi exceeded our expectations. The service was exceptional, the monastery is beautiful, we loved the breakfasts, and the location was phenomenal! We would recommend it to anyone wishing to stay in Rome and will be back the next time we visit.

Excellent!

We stayed for 10 days on the occasion of our 55th wedding anniversary. Our wishes were to visit once more the Vatican and enjoy it's many treasures, as well as other major basilicas in Rome. Palazzo Cesi and it's very helpful and warm staff exceeded our expectations. The location is a few steps away from Saint Peter's. The hotel staff gave us excellent suggestions to visit our places of interest as well as to celebrate our anniversary. They even arranged for a Mass of thanksgiving at the Salvatorian's chapel by one of the priests in the community. The breakfast buffet was excellent, the place was immaculately clean and attractive and very quiet. An excellent choice for pilgrims to the Eternal City!
