This monastery is operated by the Salesiani del Sacro Cuore.

A grand cloistered building, offering prime location and secure facilities. Rooms are simply furnished, but set back from the road and offer a peaceful stay in the busy heart of Rome.

Parking is quite difficult in Rome and this guest house provides on-site parking in the central secure courtyard (charges apply) which is a real bonus.

Breakfast is included in the price. Lunch and dinner available, book with the reception staff.

East of the city center. City with easy access. A short walk to Termini train station, with bus and metro stops for local and surrounding locations.  

History

Construction began in the late 1800's. Pope Leone XIII commissioned Don Bosco to build a sanctuary and a house to accommodate disadvantaged children of the time.

	Two main advantages of this monastery: 1) there is air conditioning! 2) right next to the Termini, the main train/bus terminal in Rome - super convenient!

	Convenient location. Spacious and adequate rooms. It has the amenities which we looked for - A/C, WiFi, elevator. Staff speaks reasonable English which is an unexpected relief. Dinner (and lunch) available at 12 euros per person is a bonus.

	I could not have chosen a better place to stay. Steps from Termini Station, steps from lots of great eating places, your bus stop 1\2 a block away, airport shuttle bus steps away! The service was good, room sparse but spotless. I was on the third floor facing the bell tower and still could not hear very much of the hustle and bustle just outside the doors. I stayed a second time on my way home. This is the place to stay! I will be going back!

	Came in on the train and was literally right across the street. That was so wonderful and convient. Check in was early in the day, so you can drop your bags off and head out for the day. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to others.

	We spent three nights here. The biggest plus point of Istituto Sacro Cuore is that it is bang opposite the Roma Termini train and bus stations, just across the road. You can come in till 12 midnight. Well maintained place, breakfast is pretty decent. Service at the breakfast room is great and staff are very friendly. I would recommend this place to anybody who is traveling to Rome and want to stay in the heart of the city, walkable from many of the important points of interest. Amazing place.

	This one wins for convenience--about 150 steps from the Termini train station. Literally across the street. Air conditioning on a hot August day was a life-saver. Rooms were clean. Breakfast was mayhem, though, with many food items depleted by the time we got there 15 minutes after opening (another tour group was staying there). They re-stocked before we left, but I had a train to catch. Street noise at night, but we closed both inner and outer windows and did okay. No curfew. Cost is a bit higher than the monastery six blocks away, but that one does not have A/C.

	The wifi was a complicated procedure to obtain - I would like to suggest that if it states wifi available, that all guests be provided with the name and login code quickly upon checkin. I was not told where breakfast was...I did find out by asking later. Generally though, an excellent option, and very well located.

	I loved my first monastery experience and hope to repeat it again. I strongly recommend the Tstituto Sacro Cuore On the plus side: -location, just across Termini (train, bus, metro, airport shuttle) main station; -clean good size room, clean spacious bathroom,fresh daily towels, sheets changed every 3 days; - quiet rooms - mine gave on the courtyard; -big continental breakfast (Italians normally eat a very light breakfast) including various breads, danishes, cereals, yogurt; - nice staff; - lunch and dinner available; - late curfew On the minus side: - Termini surroundings; - Paper-thin bedroom walls; - Student groups can be noisy; - Staff limited English proficiency
