Fantastic location close to all the main sites of Rome (Colosseum, Roman Forum, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Vatican City. I felt extremely safe as a solo female traveller. Would definitely stay here again and will be recommending to my friends and family as well.
Megan - England, United Kingdom (October 2024)
We very much enjoyed our stay. The location was great - within walking distance to many of the attractions we wanted to see (Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain). We enjoyed the peace and quiet once in the monastery and we slept very well.
Teresa - On, Canada (October 2024)
Very restful and peaceful accommodation - a welcome respite from the frenetic pace of Rome
Regina - VIC, Australia (July 2024)
Casa Santa Lucia was a great place to stay. The rooms were simple but very good. The air conditioning in the room was amazing. The location was second to none only 7 min walk to the Pantheon and close to most other things. The sisters were friendly and helpful. We’d highly recommend it.
John - NSW, Australia (June 2024)
Sleep quality- it’s quite a busy road and could hear the traffic. Maybe the beds could be a bit bigger. Otherwise it was great and very comfortable. So glad to have good air conditioning in that heat. I had a really lovely stay was only there for two night but would definitely stay for longer if I returned to Rome.
Naomi - COUNTY DOWN, United Kingdom (June 2024)
We had a lovely stay in Rome and did a lot during the day, but always felt the CSLF was nice to come home to. The Monasterio is safe, clean, and well-run. The location is brilliant - so central. We would like to have made more use of the courtyard.
Mark - WEST MIDLANDS, United Kingdom (June 2024)
The facility is lovely, well maintained, and conveniently located. The chapel is quiet, unused, but beautiful. The rooms are as displayed—not fancy or spacious. Beds are not comfortable, but we were jet lagged and slept peacefully. It was nice that the kids had their own room. Air conditioning and everything else worked well. Note to average size or big individuals: the showers are very small and hard to move in. The breakfast was a great way to start the day. Tasty, authentic and good variety. We loved relaxing in the quiet courtyard, which would be perfect with even just slightly better tables and chairs. Our primary reason for booking was location and price. Casa Santa Lucia Filipini met those criteria. I would recommend.
Mark - IN, United States (June 2024)

Good location
Supportive, friendly, helpful.
Other tourists comments that they generally stay at this location based on history of prior stays so that confirms it is a good place and location.
Food is better here vs. Florence.
Shower built for small people so somewhat difficult. Bedding worked out just fine. TV in room, ease of WIFI and it worked!
No issues to present.

We stayed for a week and loved every minute of our stay. Diola at the reception desk was terrific; professional, courteous, and incredibly helpful. Not sure of the lady’s name, but the breakfast server was also wonderful; greeting us each morning with a smile. The food and drinks available for breakfast were very good and jump started our day. The location of the facility is the BEST; within walking distance to all the major sites. Rooms are comfortable and a mini fridge was an added bonus. If we visit Rome again we will definitely use this facility again.

The monastery was very close to many attractions in Rome, and the rooms were very clean and serviced daily. We could see an ancient Roman site just outside our window, and an active archeological site was just a block away. The sister at the front desk was very helpful and spoke excellent English. My sister and I were very comfortable here, and we highly recommend this monastery.

Margaret - VA, United States (July 2019)
Perfect location. All the modern amenities of a hotel with the charm and ambiance of a staying in convent. The location is perfectly situated to public transportation and walking is easy to all the key Rome sites. We were given maps and sight seeing advice upon our check in which was very helpful. We are a family of 5 and our rooms (1 queen room and 1 room with 3 singles) were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very good (7am until 10am) with your choice of coffee, juice, cereal, pastries etc.
The convent itself was very large and charming. In the evenings we sometimes returned to the hotel at 12:30 - 1:00 am and the door clicked open for us before we even rang the bell. We felt very safe in this location. The chapel was beautiful and a quiet, cool place to visit. We will definitely recommend Casa Santa Lucia Filippini to friends and hope to be back again. Thank you sisters for opening your home to us.
Anthony - NJ, United States (July 2019)

David - NC, United States (June 2019)
I love, love Casa Santa Lucia Filippini front desk personnel, premises and location! Although this is only three blocks away from main Rome historical sites, this was an immensely quite and peaceful place to stay. Every time I had a questions, I received caring and excellent information. Everyone was loving, attentive and simply wonderful! I also love the chapel. The breakfast was simple and nice ( I love their capuchino and yogurt Bianco). I highly recommend la Casa to anyone who wants to experience Rome amazing history with time to rest and retreat from this beloved Rome! I plan to go back!

The service was excellent. The breakfast s wonderful, we has an early tour & the breakfast room was open to us earlier than scheduled. The location was perfect foe our tours. Unfortunately, we booked for 3 people several months ahead only to find a very nice room for 2. They quickly brought a Côte in but it did make the room tight.
The monastery was very clean & very quiet. Yes I would recommend it to friends. Diane

It the best kept secret in accommodations in Rome. I have stayed here with family members several times. This time was with an 18 year old grandson. Great location. Safe. Quiet. Gentle people. I will always go back here. A room on the courtyard side is the quietest.

Very convenient location, spotless rooms providing every convenience and modern bathroom. Superior facilities to many highly rated hotels in Rome. The breakfast was abundant and the room very welcoming. I was travelling with a 15 year old so the stay was great value. However I would not hesitate to return with friends.
Sue - NSW, Australia (April 2018)
My trip to Rome would not have been as fantastic as it was if not for my having a calm peaceful refuge at Casa Santa Lucia Filippini. If I have the pleasure of returning to Rome, I will only want to stay here. After 3 weeks I felt that I had made friends here.

Margaret - VIC, Australia (March 2018)
Lovely place with very helpful staff. The location was superb! It would be nice if they offered hard boiled eggs at breakfast. Wonderful place though!
Susan - TN, United States (March 2018)
The hospitality was such a welcome. On reviews that I had read, it was suggested to get an inside courtyard room, of which I did request, but because of the number of days of our stay the staff thought we would appreciate the extra space in the room assigned. I would agree that the space was nice but when it came to both Friday and Saturday nights the street noise definitely increased. Everything else about this stay was a delight. And the heating appliance we were given to use during our stay to fix our tea was so appreciated.
Patricia - MO, United States (March 2018)
Casa Santa Lucia Filippini was a great choice for out small school group. The rooms are spotlessly clean and quiet. The staff and sisters are accommodating and very helpful. The location is perfect for walking to any major sites in the city. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and will use them again on future trips. Thanks
Dr. David - WA, USA (February 2018)
We were looking for a pilgrimage experience, not a luxury vacation. For our purposes, this place was perfect. The sisters and the staff were very generous, helpful, and welcoming. They found a way to meet our every need. The location could not be better - generally walking distance to everything. Street noise was a bit loud at times, might want to bring a white noise machine. Breakfast did not vary much, but was better than the usual Italian breakfast with meat, cheese in addition to pasty/bread, also fruit and yogurt. Automatic coffee/expresso machines with lots of selections including 2 hot chocolate settings and hot water for tea. Elevators were welcome. Chapel is gorgeous!
June - TX, USA (February 2018)
Sisters and staff were helpful & wonderful at every turn. Cannot say enough about the hospitality.
Wilfred - NH, United States (November 2017)
Casa Santa Lucia Filippini is a lovely place to stay in Rome – central and comfortable. It’s not a hotel of course so you don’t get the amenities of a hotel (bar, 24-hour reception, room service etc) and that is exactly how we liked it – a contemplative, peaceful atmosphere. The location couldn’t be better and the rooms were great. The only reason we have given less than '10' for Rooms and Sleep quality is because those rooms facing the street do tend to experience some noise which can be disturbing depending on one's sensitivity to noise.
Edmund - , United Kingdom (November 2017)
The sisters were gracious and attentive to our special dietary needs. The desk staff were very, very helpful in making local plans, understanding public transportation, and referring us to gluten-free restaurants. Everyone was very welcoming. The location was ideal for us.
Irene - MI, United States (October 2017)
It was absolutely delightful. I will certainly be coming again when I am next in Rome.
Father Peter - PA, USA (June 2017)
We enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke English. The venue was very central and we were able to walk to most of the sights we wanted to visit and buses were nearby.
Margaret - GAUTENG, South Africa (June 2017)
We really enjoyed our stay, we had a triple room. Breakfast was good. Nice airy rooms. Everything was within walking distance. Friendly, Clean and simple... perfect.
Thanks.
Kieron - , Netherlands (May 2017)
Great place, great location and the staff was very nice.
Philip - NY, United States (April 2017)
This was a fantastic base for our 3 day stay in Rome. Really central so easy to walk to all the main sites. We had a lovely quiet room on the cloister side of the building so only woken up by blackbirds in the morning. Breakfast was unfussy and ample. Staff were fantastic - only problem was ringing to confirm our arrival after 9pm when the lady answering the phone spoke no English and my Italian was not up to scratch! After that no other issues. I've only been back a day but I've recommended this to at least 3 people already. I hope I get another chance to visit Rome and I'd definately stay here again.
S C - Cheshire, United Kingdom (April 2017)
As out of country visitors to Rome, we were thrilled to be in this location, where we were able to walk to everything. The accommodations were better than expected, and very clean and comfortable. We really appreciated the included breakfast as well. The staff were helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this to friends.

Marie - Dublin, Ireland (March 2017)
Great staff. Very clean. Great location.
Michael - MI, United States (February 2017)
Secure, central, close to all facilities and most tourist attractions. Will definitely use again when in Rome.
Stephen - TAS, Australia (January 2017)
The convent was ideal in every way. Literally ten minutes walk from all the sights, maybe a bit more to the Vatican but if it's central you want then this location nails it. A word of note - bring ear plus if your room is facing street - purely because of street traffic. It didn't bother me too much but it might others. Would I stay again - yes in a heart beat. We had no use for buses, taxis or trams. We walked everywhere. We took a private taxi to airport on New Years Day because most of the city was pedestrianised and regular taxis were hard to come by. Lovely gentleman at Convent Reception arranged private taxi.
Brid - Country Laois, Ireland (December 2016)
Thank you for your hospitality and they were open to serve breakfast 30 min earlier than usual on our day of departure. Will certainly stay again.
Hillary - gauteng, South Africa (October 2016)
We had a wonderful stay, helpful staff, clean room, wonderful resting spot and great location. Walking distance from Trastevere, Pantheon, Colosseum and Monti area and a 20-minute bus ride to the Vatican. Breakfast is rather limited, but a coffee, croissant and yogurt is exactly what we needed. Wifi works well, even in our room and reception organised our restaurant bookings and taxi reservations. We were very happy with our stay, nothing fancy, but we didn't want for anything.
Carissa - GAUTENG, South Africa (October 2016)
Our stay was pleasant, the staff excellent, the food more than adequate.
Betty W - GA, United States (October 2016)

The location could not be better, the rooms are spacious and the air conditioning works well. The bed sheets are a bit rough, and some mattresses a bit hard, but otherwise it was a wonderful stay.
Lauren - WA, USA (August 2016)
The Casa was PERFECT! Walk to most everything. Gracious, helpful & sweet staff. No problem returning from late dining as they keep your room(s)key so that they know that you are still out on the town. Just ring bell to be let in on night time return. Very nice continental breakfast. We were all so happy that we booked this Casa. Great value. Grazie Mille!

A perfect place to stay. Centrally located. A very helpful front desk. Breakfast provides a good start to the day. If you are touring Rome and you need a decent breakfast, friendly staff and a simple place to sleep after a full day - then this will work for you.
Sean - MN, United States (March 2016)
This was an excellent place to stay, we would definitely stay there again. The breakfast was very good. The staff at the desk were very helpful when we asked for directions etc. The location was wonderful, in the centre of the city, yet it was quiet. Many places were within walking distance, yet there were bus stops nearby to go to places which were further away.
Brendan - Antrim, United Kingdom (March 2016)
Our stay was wonderful. The accommodations worked well for our family and we were very pleased with the food and service.
Norma - Iowa, USA (January 2016)
Excellent location that allowed us to walk to every major historic site. The room and facility was spotless, the service staff at front desk very helpful, and the breakfast, while simple, far exceeded our expectations. Another pleasant surprise was the strong and fast Internet connection (wifi) in our room.
We stayed three nights and enjoyed every aspect of our stay.
Raymond - FL, United States (December 2015)

It was a clean and comfortable place with air conditioning.

I would recommend this place to friends.
Ron A - Alberta, Canada (September 2015)
Public transport is very easy to use in Rome. There is a tram that passes outside the hotel, also bus and train nearby.
Nicholas - Victoria, Australia (September 2015)
This is an absolutely fabulous place to stay. It felt safe and secure, it was easy to access public transport, and there was lots to explore in walking distance.
Annemaree - Queensland, Australia (September 2015)
It surpassed our expectations and the staff were just amazing, especially Ariana. The airline lost our luggage and she was very helpful in this respect. Went out of her way! We will definitely stay again. If I have to make a criticism it would only be the mattress, but it was nothing to worry about! Many thanks, great place!
Rose - WA, Australia (August 2015)
Having a TV was great. The small refrigerator worked out also. the sisters couldn't have been nicer. The chapel is beautiful. Location was great.
Linda - NY, United States (July 2015)
My stay at Casa Santa Lucia Filippini was wonderful. The rooms were great, the staff were lovely & incredibly helpful and the location was perfect. I would most certainly stay here again and would definitley recommend.
Jacinta - Victoria, Australia (July 2015)
Great location, clean rooms. Rooms near elevator were somewhat noisy.
John - NY, United States (July 2015)
My sister and I had an amzing stay at Casa Santa Lucia Filippinni! The front desk was always very nice and helpful answering questions. The room was also perfect - clean, quiet, and had everything we needed. I also thought the breakfast was delicious! The location was perfect - we walked everywhere we went in Rome, and only had a maximum 25 minute walk away to see everything. It was in a safe neighborhood, and as two females traveling in Rome we felt safe at all times. It was an amazing stay and I would stay here again!
M - MN, United States (June 2015)
Kindness of the personnel. Very central location. Neat and wide rooms. To repeat next time.
Arturo - Murcia, Spain (June 2015)
A very pleasant experience. The guest house staff were very helpful.
Steve - OR, United States (June 2015)
It was peaceful and comfortable and very convenient. We were happy there.
Kathleen - Western Australia, Australia (May 2015)
You can tell this place has been recently re-done; the water pressure in the shower was great! Also, well thought out rooms and amenities in them. The sisters were friendly. The location is GREAT! You are in the middle of old Rome, and you can walk most anywhere. I felt welcomed in a relaxed atmosphere, and after 10 days the neighborhood got to be familiar and comfortable. I'll go back.
Andrew - FL, United States (May 2015)
Cleanliness was great; peaceful; breakfast was good, not outstanding, staff was nice.
Brian - MI, United States (May 2015)
what a wonderful, special place to stay while visiting Rome. Great staff, service, and all around hospitality.I loved attending Mass with the Nuns. Will definitely be back and recommend this place for anyone that needs a place to stay in Rome!!!
Cristina - FL, United States (May 2015)
We really enjoyed our stay! Dora, at the desk, was perhaps the most helpful person we met in Rome--she was able to negotiate the language as well as the technology. What a special young woman. Attempts were made to quiet the noisy group of young women, and the problem is with them being rude, not the Casa Santa Lucia. Nice cafe next door gave us some of the best food we had in Rome, at a reasonable price. Would love to stay there again.
Joan - MO, United States (May 2015)
Casa Santa Lucia Filippini is a lovely place to stay and conveniently located to the sites we wanted to visit. The staff was very pleasant and extremely helpful, and the sisters were most charming and welcoming. But otherwise it's a great place to stay.
Gwendolyn - VT, United States (May 2015)
The nuns were most helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was indeed basic as described.
Mrs - Antrim, United Kingdom (May 2015)
In general, only for travel minded folks - no frills - not a hotel. Tourists who are luxury minded are the only ones who would not love this place. Great folks at the front desk - recommended a memorable restaurant - spotless room, comfortable bed, street noise only with window open. Location is in historic center of the eternal city. Book it.
Frank - NY, United States (April 2015)
Great stay, and great location! The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. The facilities were well maintained and clean. Light sleepers should request interior facing rooms, or not stay here. Other than that, it was a very pleasant stay!
Maria - AE, United States (April 2015)
Delightful. Good breakfast. The BEST location for exploring Rome. Rooms on the courtyard away from the lift are the quietest.
Sharon - Otago, New Zealand (April 2015)
Excellent place to stay, and so central to everything. Simple breakfast, but it is quite Italian. The sisters were very helpful and so were the girls at reception. Everyone was very kind. I will stay there again.
James - , United Kingdom (April 2015)
we were very happy to be in your home, all was very good. Thank you.
Bernard - , France (December 2014)
Lovely place, clean and friendly. Very central for all tourist attractions (walking distance to Vatican, Pantheon, Colosseum etc). Bit noisy from traffic if you get a room on the main street like we did - but we got used to it and slept anyway.
Julia - Suffolk, United Kingdom (October 2014)
Our stay was wonderful. The nuns and young ladies at the front desk were so helpful. The monastery was very clean, and the rooms were comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.
Deni - MN, United States (October 2014)
It was a good space for the money. The chapel is lovely and we enjoyed our Sunday morning service with you. Overall, we were quite happy with Casa Santa Lucia Filippini, particularly with the location.
Sandra - AL, United States (October 2014)
Italian breakfast. Very hard mattresses. All other excellent!
Hallstein - , Norway (September 2014)
Wonderful, really enjoyed it, breakfast was basic but suited me fine - bread and cheese and yoghurt. Beds a bit on the hard side, but that should not be a problem for most people. Very central. Staff kind and helpful.
Malcolm - New South Wales, Australia (September 2014)
The entire staff that we encountered were so kind and helpful. You don't find this kind of hospitality in standard hotel chains.
Nicolette - OH, United States (September 2014)
I thought the Casa was perfectly situated and very well run. Every member of staff I had dealings with were polite and eager to be of help.
Robyn - Victoria, Australia (September 2014)
I highly recommend Casa Santa Lucia Filippini. It was centrally located with most sights within walking distance. It was easily accessible and perfect for exploring Rome. The place itself was gorgeous. The rooms are large and have high ceilings. The courtyard view rooms are lovely and quiet. Everything was immaculately clean and the room has many conveniences like a fridge, good television and air con. The nuns are absolutely beautiful. I am a single girl travelling alone and I loved my chats with the lovely nuns. The other staff were lovely too. I felt comfortable, safe, and at ease within a big city thanks to my stay at Santa Lucia. I can't recommend it highly enough.
Rachele - Victoria, Australia (August 2014)
We loved staying here. It was always like returning to a cool, quiet, safe oasis at the end of a hot and tiring day in Rome. Best sleep I had while in Europe.
Ulrike - NY, United States (August 2014)
The location was great. It was clean.
Marylee - OR, United States (July 2014)
We enjoyed an excellent stay at Casa Santa Lucia Filippini. My only suggestion is that the breakfast could be improved by the addition of fruit and hard boiled eggs.
Etta - London, United Kingdom (June 2014)
Great location, helpful staff
Paul - PA, United States (June 2014)
Our room and bathroom was clean and spacious. Staff was so kind and helpful. Breakfast was delicious and filling. Location great - 15 minute walk to the Colosseum / 25 minute walk to St. Peter's / 7 min. walk to the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain.
Shelly - CA, United States (June 2014)
Excellent accommodations and a great value.
Steven - UT, United States (June 2014)
Clean and neat, but basic rooms, easy walk to sights, walked to St Peter's Square in 35 min; very friendly staff, elevator works well, room was 3rd floor and facing courtyard, it was quiet.
Mark - AZ, United States (May 2014)
Staff were lovely, room was fine - quite large which was a bonus. Rooftop terrace wonderful. Only thing it was a little bit noisy to sleep at night as one of the windows faced the busy main street. Otherwise lovely stay
Karen - New South Wales, Australia (May 2014)
We have received more than expected. Excellent hospitality, extreme cleanliness.
Zsuzsanna - , Sweden (April 2014)
Very friendly and helpful staff especially at reception. The bed was extremely comfortable but the noise from the street was disturbing. I would recommend asking for a room overlooking the courtyard. Breakfast was basic but good enough. Casa Santa Lucia Filippini was within easy walking distance of the Colosseum, Forum and many good restaurants.
Helen - Norfolk, United Kingdom (April 2014)
Everything was excellent. The Sisters and other staff at Casa Santa Lucia were welcoming hosts, helpful advisors and and they fostered an extraordinarily comfortable Rome experience.
