Ofelia - FL, United States (April 2024)
A little out of the way, but it is a beautiful property! The room is basic; the bathroom is very good. The staff were friendly, but bring your own corkscrew.
Shelley - AB, Canada (April 2024)
The staff are very helpful and welcoming. Make sure you watch the sunset from the rooftop.
Therese - VIC, Australia (March 2024)
I loved my stay at Villa Crawford! It was magical and peaceful. I instantly felt safe, happy and peaceful with so much beauty. Everyone was so nice and helpful. The food was so fresh and delicious! I have already made reserved for next year.
Lucia - TX, United States (June 2023)
What a fantastic sight. Great staff, friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
Anthony - New South Wales, Australia (May 2023)
I loved this place. I was only able to stay one night when I had planned to stay 2 nights, and there was no problem with this. I am thinking of returning to Sorrento just to stay here for a few days. Beautiful location, well-kept facility with nice public areas, good food, gracious people. Only suggestion would be to add some healthier breakfast options, such as fruit.
Ellen - FL, United States (October 2022)
the beds are quite short. The room size 15 M2 is also quite small. The main building and the garden are simply fantastic with nice views over the bay.
Gino - , Belgium (September 2022)
I can’t say enough good things about our stay. It was amazing. We arrived tired and hungry from our travels from Rome. After checking in we decided to sit under the leafy pergola in the beautiful garden. That’s when we met Giuseppe, bartender extraordinaire. Since there were2 1st communion celebrations going on, the kitchen was closed to food orders. Giuseppe somehow, brought us wonderful wine and to large dishes of delicious seafood that he somehow scrounged from the kitchen. It was fresh and delicious. All the staff was accommodating and friendly. The grounds were like paradise. A lush garden perched on a cliff above the sea. Our room was seaside with a large communal balcony. The main building also had a beautiful balcony. The room itself was spacious and had a small anteroom with desk and chair. The room also had a decent sized bathroom with shower. The furniture was a bit outdated, but it was comfortable. And we slept well with very efficient air conditioning.
Knight - WV, United States (June 2022)
The staff at Villa Crawford were extremely professional, courteous, and accommodating. The facilities themselves are very well-kept and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful and the views are stunning. The chapel on the premises affords the opportunity for prayer and worship as well. I would highly recommend Villa Crawford to anybody looking to spend some time in Sorento.
Thomas - PA, United States (October 2021)
This place was like a very fancy hotel. Top quality food, service, rooms were beautiful and very clean, they played music outdoors each evening. The gardens are lovely. In the evenings we sat on the patio and watched boats out on the ocean. The location is within walking distance of Sorrento, which is a delightful town. I will definitely stay at Villa Crawford again!
Margaret - NC, United States (July 2021)
Ideal location, beautiful views and plenty of outdoor places to sit in the sun or shade on the verandah overlooking the sea or in the garden. Easy walking distance of local town and Sorrento. Circumvesuviana train stop also nearby for easy access to the nearby tourist spots. Restful and very beautiful location. Would be difficult to improve on. Ideal for solo travelers. Would recommend most highly. My second time to stay with Monastery Stays and would recommend them very highly also. Thank you.
Mary - Co Westmeath, Ireland (July 2021)
The location, the rooms and the exceptional staff makes Villa Crawford an excellent place for a vacation.
Stephen - DE, United States (June 2021)
Lovely grounds and we appreciated the breakfast since we had an early start to our day.
Mark - TX, United States (October 2019)
The beauty of the location was outstanding. The gardens were lovely, and the little nooks and terraces for sitting were delightful. The air of tranquility and serenity were a haven from the frantic pace of Sorrento. Villa Crawford is one of the most delightful places I have ever stayed. I hope I can get back there in the future.
Margaret - TX, United States (October 2019)
It was lovely - great place, really nice staff, nice food. Have already told lots of people about this!
Barbara - London, United Kingdom (August 2019)
Hi, thank you to everyone who worked in the Villa, they were very friendly and very helpful to any questions I had. I could not fault any of the services, the view was excellent, easy access to main part of Sorrento, and any other places you are thinking of going to via tours to Mt Vesuvius, Pompeii, Amalfi, Positano, all in easy reach of the local trains.
I can't wait to visit again, thank you, God Bless
Carolyn - New South Wales, Australia (July 2019)
Villa Crawford is simply elegant, peaceful, beautiful, stunning view, spotless clean equipped with expensive taste of decoration, the beautiful garden and the sea view the list go on. The in house restaurant serve good food superbly served by Mr.Angelo. Morning breakfast have variety of spread. My only regrets is staying too short here. Highly recommended to everyone who are visiting in the region.
Yuen - Vic, Australia (June 2019)
Beautiful view of the sea and lovely gardens. Dinner at their restaurant was absolutely delicious.
Susan - OH, United States (June 2019)
It is a wonderful place to stay. The views are spectacular. The gardens idyllic. The entrance and exit procedure very secure. The breakfast was very good. Would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Lynne - Essex, United Kingdom (May 2019)
Absolutely one of the most beautiful locations we stayed in. The grounds are amazing, the patios overlooking the sea and Mt. Vesuvius such a bonus. They serve meals, which was very convenient for us.
Betty - VT, United States (April 2019)
Absolutely stunning site on clifftop, with beautiful views and gardens.
The location was a little out of the way from village, without a car, especially in winter, although in summer this would have been a welcome retreat from crowds of wider Sorrento area. Depending on parking, I would stay here again willingly if using a car. The taxi from Sorrento seemed very expensive and it would have been useful to have had an approx price guide for this before arriving as how to get there was a bit vague.
Janetta - , New Zealand (January 2019)
Villa Crawford overall was amazing and the service was fantastic. The room was cute and comfortable and very clean.
Veronica - NY, United States (November 2018)
Beautiful. Enjoyed the entire stay.
Jeanne - UT, United States (November 2018)
Everything we wanted in our stay in Sorrento! Beautiful cliff side sunset views drinking wine on the patio, quite garden to sit in the afternoon shade and relax, easy access to transit to all of the surrounding sights, and a hearty breakfast to start each morning. We thoroughly loved Villa Crawford.
David - OR, United States (October 2018)
This former private villa sits on the shore of the Mediterranean. I could have fished out my window. Rich in history and ideally located, seaside Villa Crawford offers fine food and lovely rooms with a view of Vesuvius. Top-drawer.
Cate - CA, United States (September 2018)
The staff at Villa Crawford was wonderful! We needed some extra care during our stay and the staff stepped up.
The facilities and location are great.
David - TX, United States (September 2018)
One of the most beautiful stays. The location is out of this world. The view from the top of the main house at sunset with a glass of wine is worth the whole trip to Sorrento. The dinners were very nice and the staff did an excellent job. We were lucky and had a small house to ourselves.
George - TX, United States (September 2018)
Wow! Fantastic, superb gold star accommodation. Villa Crawford must have the best location in all of St Agnello. Not only is the Villa and it’s gardens beautiful, the accommodation comfortable, the view from the terraces, dining room and lounges is magnificent. Cannot ask for more.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Bountiful breakfast of hams, cheeses, eggs, croissant, cereals, fruit, yoghurt and coffee.
Directions to Villa Crawford were not clear to us. We took the train from Naples to Sorrento, only to have to get back on the train and get out at St Agnello, (the stop before Sorrento, which is the last stop).
The taxi ride, literally 5 minutes, but all up hill and difficult with luggage is a bit expensive at €15. From the Villa, it is an easy walk down to the beach and into Sorrento.
Grocery store nearby and many lovely restaurants to choose from around the Villa. We enjoyed dinner at the Villa one night - well worth it!
A night cap on the terrace is very special with the boats lit up and Mount Vesuvius across the sea.
Thank you for a memorable and special stay.
Maria - Gauteng, South Africa (July 2018)
Villa Crawford far exceeded my expectations. It is an amazingly tranquil, beautiful, place with unbelievable views of the Bay of Naples. My room was very large, extremely clean, just perfect. I slept with my my window closest to the bed open each night and was lulled to sleep by the sounds of the waves hitting the rocks.
I didn’t want to leave and hope to return someday.
Barbara - TX, United States (July 2018)
Villa Crawford exceeded my expectations. As a painter who teaches workshops it was the perfect place to rest and paint after a busy week of teaching
Vianna - MI, United States (June 2018)
Very relaxing and peaceful, good location away from the crowds but on main transport route so easy to get everywhere, lovely views, good local dishes provided in the restaurant if you choose to eat there.
Kim - , United Kingdom (May 2018)
It’s a very cool place with stunning views and you can walk to anything. It was nice having a restaurant available. Bed was comfortable. I wasn’t there long enough to take advantage but it was quite beautiful. Pleasant staff.
Stacey - CO, United States (May 2018)
Danielle’s service was simply outstanding and very genuinely caring. She made me feel at home and I will be back! I will recommend the Crawford widely as well.
Najat - FL, United States (April 2018)
Villa Crawford is beautiful, relaxing, romantic. Services were terrific. I would highly recommend it.
Victoria - AK, United States (November 2017)
I had a great 4-night stay at Villa Crawford! The staff were all wonderful- very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was fabulous. The grounds are magnificent. Room was cleaned every day with fresh towels too. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend, and would love to return someday. This is the best monastery stay I've done!
Stunning views over the bay of Naples. Location a half hour walk from Sorrento centre. Beautiful gardens and building. Service - morning receptionists was very friendly and helpful. Afternoon not as helpful. Difficult to get drinks - even water outside of restaurant hours. Dining hall very nicely decorated. Fixed meal very good. Dining service was good.
Stephen - Lancashire, United Kingdom (September 2017)
The view from the terrace is absolutely gorgeous. Our rooms were not located in the main Villa but the park-like area. Very small room but clean.
Antoinette - MD, United States (September 2017)
Absolutely amazing! Highly recommend!
Emma - NY, United States (June 2017)
Un lugar perfecto, con una energia especial y un personal encantador. Un lugar MAGICO.
Conchita - Madrid, Spain (June 2017)
A beautiful location with wonderful staff.
Kathleen - NSW, Australia (May 2017)
The grounds are absolutely amazing. After a day of sights touring, coming into Villa Crawford is like stepping into a sanctuary. One can sit by the ocean, under the wisteria by the gardens or on the side overlooking the cliffs. Many little nooks for quiet contemplation or conversations with others. The rooftop offers the best views of the property and awe inspiring sunset over the Bay of Naples.
The room I had was spacious for one person. I stayed in the room off the sanctuary which I'm guessing is used for visiting priests. There was a study/office room that was separate from the bedroom. A small table and chairs were in the bedroom room along with a large recliner. It was more than I needed. The bathroom was large with shower, bidet and toilet.
The windows faced the Bay of Naples for a beautiful view and nice breeze. Overall, it was wonderful to open the shutters, fall asleep and wake up to the ocean.
Breakfast is delicious and the dinning room has the most amazing view; it was luxurious. Fruit is served from the garden trees. I would often take and extra piece of fruit for a snack or even make a little sandwich for later. I ate dinner out and did not try theirs yet the menu looked delicious.
There is a community refrigerator that you can use for leftovers and always have access to.
All the staff are very friendly and helpful. One day there was going to be a train strike and the night staff alerted me so I could modify my plans and not get stranded. There is always staff at the front desk and they were great with insider tips. The sisters are busy with their responsibilities and it was fun to see them around the grounds.
The bus stop(for local Sorrento) is right outside the door at the top of the street and Mass is across the street at the Capuchin church. The train stop is a little walk (15 minutes)and you pass a local bakery and grocery store if you need food.I felt safe walking as a single female no matter the time, day or night.
I could have stayed there for a month and lacked for nothing. It was wonderful staying here and I plan on returning and staying longer.
Andrea L. - MO, United States (May 2017)
Absolutely beautiful property, quiet and peaceful and about a 25 minute walk into town. I did miss having a TV to keep up on the news at home.
Laurie - CA, United States (May 2017)
It is a beautiful place to stay, right on the ocean and with lovely gardens. The breakfasts were good, and the help we received at the desk was very much appreciated.
Janet - MS, United States (May 2017)
This place is absolutely phenomenal!! BEAUTIFUL!!! We had a view of the Mediterranean Sea from our room. The view from the Sea is picturesque also. Every morning there were boats anchored near the monastery because it is so pretty from the Sea also.
They provide lunch and dinner here and it is delicious.
Vicki - KY, United States (September 2016)
A little far from train station when walking with heavy luggages.
But other wise, best value of my whole travel ! If I had known more of the situation and facilities, I would have skipped my 3 days in Naples and come here instead to do all the activities I wanted to do. All is close: Pompei, Capri, Napoli etc.. No need stay in Naples itself.
Eileen - Quebec, Canada (September 2016)
Best place we stayed while in Italy. Fabulous accommodation. Beautiful and very reasonable. Sister Anna Maria is about the sweetest person you could ask for. Only downside is it's a little outside of town. A healthy walk to good restaurants and shopping and taxes are expensive. We would absolutely stay here again though.
Christopher - MA, United States (May 2016)
This was as memorable a stay that I have ever had! The property is exquisite. Pure room had been renovated and was perfect. The grounds and gardens were meticulously cared for. The personnel were warm, inviting and helpful. As can be seen in the pictures, it rises right out of the sea.
Stephen - NY, United States (May 2016)
Absolutely beautiful and the staff there are extremely friendly and helpful.
