It was a lovely accommodation for our family. The listed amenities were true from hair dryers to onsite parking. The sisters were so friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.
Abby - TN, United States (August 2024)
I didn’t know what to expect but it was fantastic my room was spotlessly clean with a really comfortable bed. The location is to be envied with a view across the rooftops to the bay. It is on a main road,so if yousleep with doors/windows open it can be noisy. Once closed it’s not obtrusive. Fresh fruit, yoghurt and freshly baked cake for breakfast sets you up for the day. A fantastic find, and the sisters were lovely- making it a special visit.
Anne - , United Kingdom (June 2024)
Very beautiful place and Maria was lovely, i will love to go back. The room is very spacious and the view from breakfast balcony is fantastic
Maeva - MIDLOTHIAN, United Kingdom (June 2022)
The facility was extremely clean. Our room was clean and spacious and faced the lemon orchard and was very quite at night. In the morning you could hear birds and sometimes the bleating of nearby goats...it was delightful. We were able to bring our evening snack out onto the terrace and watch the sunset with ischia in the background--amazing!
Suzanne - NC, United States (May 2022)
Very kind and accomodating. A bit of a walk to the trains/buses and old town. Rooms were comfortable and everything was spotless. Breakfast was good with homemade breads, jams served with fruit, yogurts cereals, meats, cakes and coffee. A great stay overall!
Waverly - AB, Canada (April 2022)
La Culla is in a stunning location overlooking the Bay of Naples, and the rooms are very comfortable. Most importantly, the welcome you get from the Sisters is a blessing and made my stay truly memorable. Highly recommended
Paul - NSW, Australia (January 2022)
Sister Monica was such a delight! We enjoyed our conversations with her and very much enjoyed seeing the icons this monastery creates. We took the local train from Naples to Sorrento and took a taxi to the monastery; please note, ask for a smaller taxi as the large taxi's cannot make it up the hill to the monastery. The rooms were spacious and the patio area wonderful. The breakfast was excellent! My sister and I were very comfortable. I highly recommend this monastery.
Elizabeth - TX, United States (September 2021)
My group had 3 rooms & no complaints; ages 14, 50s & 60s. Our stay in Sorrento was short and Sister Monica was very helpful with checking-in/out, food and transportation.
Gerald - OH, United States (February 2020)
The monastery was amazingly clean, the view was amazing and the nuns were incredible. Left a HUGE breakfast spread every morning for us. I highly recommend staying here!
Sarah - SK, Canada (October 2019)
Warm welcome, good advice, great breakfast, easy parking, our room overlooked the railway so a bit noisy; not a deterrent!
Peter - N/A, United Kingdom (October 2019)
Great stay. The convent had a fantastic view & we were treated extremely well by the sisters. Highly recommend for anyone going to Sorrento.
Ron - BC, Canada (September 2019)
The Sisters have a wonderful, kind, gentle, hospitality and the location of their convent is excellent for views of the bay.
Richard - Wiltshire, United Kingdom (September 2019)
We stayed at various Monasteries across Italy for close to a month and this was by far the best place. The location was excellent, parking on site and a very accommodating and excellent host. Sister Monica was truly a saviour for us. We were in a jam with missing a tour and she made some calls to get us something. The dinner was amazing. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Thank you sister Monica!
Stephen - ON, Canada (August 2019)
We only had one night here and wish we had longer. Lovely nuns - so sweet and cute. Very friendly. Beautiful views from the stunning terrace. Gorgeous buildings - wish we had longer to explore. Breakfast was very good. Great location in heart of town. Only thing that might affect some people is it is very close to the train. We could not hear it from our room due to thick stone walls. So it didn’t bother us. But you can hear it from the terrace. I would love to stay here again.
Julia - Queensland, Australia (June 2019)
We had a wonderful experience here. A beautiful location and the sisters are welcoming and extremely helpful.
Deborah - BC, Canada (June 2019)
I had no idea I'd have some of the most beautiful views in Sorrento! The sisters were wonderful and very helpful. I would recommend this to families, couples, and those solo travelers like myself.
Cindy - CA, United States (June 2019)
Sister Monica and the other sisters were very friendly and unfailingly pleasant. We had a lovely stay. Sorrento is a very pleasant city and a great base for exploring both the Amalfi coast and Pompeii and Herculaneum. The convent has a spectacular view and terrace. We were very pleased with our decision to use La Culla as our base for our 5 night stay in the area.
Jennifer - ACT, Australia (May 2019)
A beautiful patio with an awesome view. The rooms were very comfortable, included a refrigerator. Breakfast was very good, homemade jams, eggs cooked to order for us and even a sip of their lemoncello after we finished. The nuns were so kind and helpful. A wonderful stay.
Betty - VT, United States (April 2019)
We loved our stay at La Culla - Suore Oblate Del Bambin Gesu. It was the perfect environment for staying with children and elderly parents because it is quiet and peaceful. The breakfast is a wonderful addition. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are clean and modern. Really enjoyable stay - thank-you.
Victoria - VIC, Australia (April 2019)
Such a beautiful building, the best convent breakfast I had (I stayed in 5 convents), perfect location, and Sister Monica was so friendly and helpful. I only wish I could have stayed longer!
Katherine - British Columbia, Canada (September 2018)
This is an amazing location with an excellent view of Sorrento! The setting is beautiful and breakfast was good.
Melissa - CA, United States (September 2018)
Lovely and spacious rooms. View was very good over the bay. The breakfast was very good and the sisters were very helpful at all times.
Pauline - WM, United Kingdom (May 2018)
Sr Monica was very welcoming. Breakfast with homemade cake and condiments was a good start to the day.
Views were very impressive.
Location was slightly out of the hustle and bustle of Sorrento but still within walking distance to major attractions. Close to restaurants.
Louise - SA, Australia (May 2018)
This was one of my favorite places I stayed in Italy. The overall stay was pleasant. The lemon cake served with breakfast was excellent. The nuns and fellow guests were very friendly.
Francis - NY, United States (May 2018)
Our stay in this beautiful monastery is a lovely holiday memory. Sr Monica made us feel welcome, the room was clean, and a simple breakfast was provided to start the day. The view from the terrace towards Vesuvius provided a perfect backdrop for photos and also place to sit and relax. A definite recommendation.
Jennifer - NSW, Australia (October 2017)
This was another beautiful monastery stay. We could not have been more pleased with the place, the location, the large room with air-conditioning, the lovely big bathroom, and the simply breath-taking views from the large terrace. It looks out to a stunning sweep of the Mediterranean dotted with boats, and in the evening it was simply magnificent to watch the sun setting and the lights of Sorrento gradually coming on below. We even had fireworks as a surprise treat one night. Be prepared to walk about a mile to the center of town. It seemed long at first (and very hot in June), but we quickly got into the groove, and it wasn't bad at all. The only challenge for us was walking uphill with our suitcases the first day. (We arranged for a shuttle back to the Naples train station on our last day, and it picked us up at the monastery, which was even better.) Sister Monica was kind and helpful, and the other sisters all seemed friendly and welcoming--even though we communicated with limited Italian and a lot of gestures! Breakfast was simple--but it worked for us. Fruit, bread, cake, yogurt, and coffee. I would definitely recommend this monastery, and we would definitely go back. It was a perfect jumping-off point for taking day trips out to Positano, Amalfi, and exploring the surrounding areas, too.
Anne - CA, United States (June 2017)
We loved staying here. The Sisters were so pleasant and kind. The views from our room were breathtaking. The only complaint is parking. While there is parking available the lot is VERY constricted and doesn't offer much maneuverability. That being said we could not have been happier staying here. If ever we come to visit Capri again we will look this place up.
Edson - FL, United States (May 2017)
We had a wonderful stay at La Culla. The building is amazing and there is everything that you could need. Sister Monica was very accommodating, particularly changing breakfast time to allow us to leave early in the morning, and going out of her way to make us comfortable.
Eleanor - Greater Manchester, United Kingdom (April 2017)
20 minute walk from train station so be prepared. Service though was excellent, rooms were clean and very comfortable beds. Great sleep in spite of train line next door. Breakfast was really good!
Peter - Act, Australia (November 2016)
An excellent location and very quiet.Within walking distance to Sorrento township.Simple but nice breakfast. Very good value stay and would recommend.
Margaret - New Zealand, New Zealand (September 2016)
A very comfortable stay, handy to Sorrento town. We would definitely come back here. Great value for money & Sister Monica is very obliging. Perfect stay.
Barbara - Auckland, New Zealand (September 2016)
Total perfection.
Jenni - , United Kingdom (July 2016)
The nuns were very kind and loving. They made us feel at home The view from the terrace was spectacular, the ocean and sunset views are a must see. Definitely a recomended place
Gustavo - Estado de Mexico, Mexico (July 2016)
Of the four monasteries that we stayed in, this was the most beautiful, comfortable and special. Sister Monica and the other Sisters were very kind, friendly and thoughtful. I will remember our stay with fondness.
Penny - OR, United States (June 2016)
Absolutely wonderful place. We are from New Zealand and are used to having hot drinks during the day so miss having that facility. However hot water was provided on request.
Lynette - new Zealand, New Zealand (May 2016)
This place is amazing!! Incredible value for a gorgeous view and clean beautiful rooms. The sisters are warm and helpful and served a great breakfast. If you are visiting Sorrento I highly recommend staying here.
Dean - MT, United States (November 2015)
The view from the balcony is incredible. Walkable to town but quite a way, 20 minutes. Nice room and given options as not busy. Very clean and nice included breakfast. Sister Monica very kind.
Andrea - , New Zealand (November 2015)
Excellent food & wine. Within walking distance of historic core. Quiet room. Big high-level terrace with beautiful views of Sorrento, the water and coastline, and Mount Vesuvius.
Stephen - British Columbia, Canada (October 2015)
Sister Monica was very helpful with my enquiries & showed me around the workshop where she teaches Icon painting & other creative artwork & she informed me of the classes she holds throughout the year. The building & view were exceptional & the artwork in the chapel was breathtaking.
Leonie - NSW, Australia (October 2015)
Whilst a bit out of Sorrento, it made for a quiet, relaxing stay. The sisters were always very pleasant and helpful.
Grace - VIC, Australia (September 2015)
We had a room opening onto the terrace with probably the best view in Sorrento. Room was basic but clean, fridge was a plus. Sr Monica was always very helpful. All up a good place to stay and not far from shops.
Robyn - New South Wales, Australia (July 2015)
Loved this Monastery, just wished it was closer to the "town". The view is amazing and was worth the location.
Laurie - CO, United States (May 2015)
Our stay at this convent was one of the highlights of our trip. Suore Daniela, Felicità and Monica gave us a warm welcome and were very helpful. La Culla is a 15 minute walk from the centre of Sorrento and also has a bus stop nearby. The view from the rooftop terrace is breathtaking, looking out over the Bay of Naples with Vesuvius in the background, a lovely setting for sunset aperitivi. Rooms are beautifully decorated and well appointed. Breakfast is excellent and very generous. Be sure to ask to see the icon paintings and craft work the Suore do - they are very talented.
Clare - Western Australia, Australia (October 2014)
Upon arrival at La Culla but we were greeted warmly, cheerfully and professionally. Our room had the most magnificent view - we were speechless. The terrace area is superb. Sister Monica and the other nuns were always helpful and even provided cups of tea on a tray when we simply asked about where to find some hot water. Breakfast was simple but very good and laid out in a lovely dining area. I was very happy not to be in the crowded resort area. The walk to Sorrento was reasonable and to the other station, only a few minutes. It was a lovely but short stay and we would certainly return.
Marilyn - Victoria, Australia (October 2014)
It has been a good stay, sober but with a good view from the terrace.
Ton - , Netherlands (September 2014)
Great location, great rooms and friendly sisters
Steve - New South Wales, Australia (September 2014)
The Sisters are wonderful. Ask them about their limoncello! Our rooms were clean and beautiful. The breakfast was fine. There are 2 sharp turns on the driveway up the hill, so be warned if you have a large rental car.
Nicholas - NJ, United States (July 2014)
Our stay was absolutely amazing. We hope to return someday and revisit with them. We can not thank them enough for their warm hospitality!
Bonnie - ME, United States (May 2014)
This facility was clean, quiet, and peaceful. It has a pretty good location - it was a short hike from the train station and not too far from the center of Sorrento. Some of the sidewalks in Sorrento were quite narrow in spots along the main road to/from the monastery, so caution should be used walking along the streets. Great view from the monastery balcony. We enjoyed our stay and would go back there again.
Timothy - AE, United States (April 2014)
This was a fantastic place to stay. It was beautiful, very clean, and the sisters were wonderful. We were traveling with children and we very happy to be staying somewhere where there was a bit more room to roam. Also, the roof top deck was a fantastic place to hang out to start or end your day. At first, it seemed like we were a little outside of the main shopping and dining area in Sorrento, but after a couple of days we realized we were only a 20 minute walk straight down the street to get to the main area. In addition, it was only a 15 minute walk to the train station for doing a day trip to Pompeii. We loved our time here and would definitely stay at this location again.
Michael - MN, United States (October 2013)
La Culla is a treasure - I could not have asked for anything more.
Gail - PA, United States (October 2013)
It was just perfect - would highly recommend!
Cyndi - OR, United States (October 2013)
It is truly a beautiful place to stay. The only minus was the English spoken, but we got through that easily. My single had a full kitchen, a clothes line to use off my veranda, & FREE WiFi. The continental breakfast was great.
Roger - CO, United States (September 2013)
Perfect stay! Lovely cakes for breakfast! Fresh juice would be preferred. Special thanks to sister Monica for her warm welcome!
Willem - , Netherlands (August 2013)
La Culla was a beautiful facility and the sisters and staff could not have been more accommodating. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay there!
It is a bit of a walk to the downtown and pier areas, where most of the activity seems to take place. For us it worked out perfectly as many of our pilgrims enjoyed going to the market and eating out on the large patio. Others took the taxi's as needed.
Amy Larsen - WY, United States (July 2013)
A restful, pleasant and interesting place to stay. The nuns were so kind, welcoming and helpful. The atmosphere was one of peace. This is on my list of places 'I must return to' next trip.
Elea - Queensland, Australia (June 2013)
We enjoyed our stay very much. The sisters were very helpful. We arrived by train and I would recommend taking a taxi to the convent. We had a lovely room with a view of the water.
John - GA, United States (May 2013)
This was an amazing place to stay, great location and a jaw dropping view. The Nuns were so welcoming, friendly and accommodating.
Bronwyn - TX, United States (April 2013)
We were happy with the rooms anbd the location but a little disappointed with the breakfast.
Ivor - Cheshire, United Kingdom (September 2012)
We were very happy in this convent.
Louise - New South Wales, Australia (June 2012)
The Sisters also paint religious icons, teach a course in art techniques. The grounds are surrounded by orchards and the villa has 5-Star views. The breakfast provided was fresh, local, and delicious. The hospitality was joyfully given.
Kathleen - MA, United States (May 2012)
A bit understaffed. Huge and a bit of a remote space, in that you weren't sure who else was around or where you were allowed to go. Water in shower only lukewarm. Good breakfast though, and nice views from our window.
