I loved staying at Casa del Monacone and having dinner at La Locanda. I truly felt at home and got all the assistance and guidance to make the best use of my time. Everything was perfect. I hope to return when I’m again in Naples.

Carla - , Netherlands (May 2023)
All the employees went out of there way to give information on things to do and the best way to get to get there. We walked to historic district it was very easy to find.

Very clean and comfortable room and really helpful staff.

Casa Monacone is a terrific place to stay in Naples. Sanita neighborhood clearly is need of economic investment in order to develop, but it nonetheless has a lot of character and history. Staying at Monacone is a terrific way to embed yourself in this community and support an organization doing great work. I’m giving a special shout-out to Giuseppe, who was incredibly helpful, accommodating, and gracious during our stay.

Absolutely loved this place. Dave and I were greeted by a lovely young man named Antonio, who explained all about the Casa del Monacone - he took plenty of time to go through the local map showing places to visit and eat. Also explained the ethos of the Casa del Monacone being a local community service - he apologised that the area was not the best in Naples but through their community programs they were trying to improve things. We witnessed this during our stay and were really impressed with their community involvement - we were pleased that they got our accommodation dollars and were putting it to good use, and not some anonymous hotel chain. This I think should have been highlighted in the accommodation information - it would instantly have made me prioritise staying here. We were then met by Giuseppe who was also extremely helpful. All the local information these 2 men gave us was accurate and helpful. They also advised us about discounts we were entitled to at tourist sites which saved us almost half price at some places.
Accommodation was basic but excellent. Breakfast every morning was made by another lovely young man (who I'm sad to say we have forgotten his name in the holiday overload) who helped me with my Italian pronunciation a lot. He also got some local cake for us to try, which was not on the breakfast menu - fiocco di neve - this was the highlight of my stay there and I will always remember it.
We had to catch a taxi from the main train station in Naples up to Casa del Monacone, which cost us 10 euro each time. We had been walking to all our other accommodation in other Italian cites but found the streets of Naples not very well marked. We did not mind paying for this morning and evening to get back to our accommodation - we enjoyed staying there so much with the very friendly staff and good accommodation. The area was a poor area of Naples but we found the local people and businesses absolutely amazing and were glad we were in that area.
We would recommend this place without hesitation and stay here again when we visit Naples in future.

A very enjoyable stay.

This is a very nice place to stay, service was great, people are friendly.
Marcela - Metropolitana, Chile (February 2018)
We walked from the station and were welcomed by a young man who spoke good English who is part of a community programme involved with the city. He gave us coffee and a snack and information about the breakfast and surrounding sights. He then took us through to our room, which had a pleasant courtyard in which to sit. There was excellent security, with keys for the front door, access into the accommodation/lift and our room. There were also computers and wifi for our use. Breakfast was good, with a variety of rolls/pastries, yogurt, coffee and tea.

We enjoyed the stay, and we are thankful for very good service.

I did stay at casa del Monacone and it is an excellent accommodation. Giuseppe was very nice, kind, informative. The site is very convenient. All the people connected with the casa del Monacone were lovely. My room was very comfortable. The breakfasts were fine. Altogether, I recommend it with great enthusiasm to anyone who inquires. Thank you very much!
Nancy - NY, United States (July 2017)
Very interesting location. Nice staff, and trendy facilities. Took a while to acclimatise to location, but after a few days appreciated the people and close proximity to all necessary services. Watch out for the periodic fireworks on saint days. Despite double glazing and two foot thick walls, thought we were in a war zone. Would use again if ever returning to Naples.
Stephen - TAS, Australia (January 2017)
Casa del Monacone was lovely, staff helpful and friendly, but the area of Sanita, I found uncomfortable as a solo traveller. I did not feel entirely safe outside of the Monastery.
Elizabeth - NSW, Australia (September 2016)
I stayed seven nights at Casa del Monachone in Naples. This is a wonderful place. A huge, beautiful space with comfortable private rooms with clean bathrooms and excellent room service every morning. It is connected to the enormous and imposing space of Santa Maria della Sanita although the church is quite separate from accomodation. The staff are extremely pleasant, enthusiastic and helpful: breakfast is excellent and shopping in the busy street always available. You can walk to most of the great sights of Naples from here. This is helped by the lift across the road which takes quickly you up to the main road connecting Capodimonte and Archaeological Museum. Ask about the two excellent and inexpensive restaurants. Via Sanita is crowded and busy. But people are friendly and I had no sense of threat or discomfort. This is a great place to stay for a stay in this fascinating city. Highly recommended!
Thomas - London, United Kingdom (October 2015)
Local streets show grime, grit, and garbage and traffic is very dense. However, everything about the room and staff service was good. All the residents we met during our stay here were very kind and helpful to us. We had breakfast with a few guests also staying here. They were were quite young and they seem to have no problem with the neighborhood. So maybe it is an age thing.
Robert - MA, United States (October 2014)
A beautiful place with lots of character in a colourful part of Napoli with fascinating history nearby. What was extra special was the work the people who run the venue are ajoined to in supporting the youth within the community
Margarita - Northamptonshire, United Kingdom (June 2014)
Casa del Monacone was great! We booked the whole level for three days with a school group. Nando and his young men were fantastic. They arranged transportation from the train station to Casa del Monacone and back and helped us with all our luggage. When we needed an earlier breakfast, they provided this with no problems. They also helped us find places to eat et cetera. The rooms were excellent (AC, TV, wifi), though the wifi availability was intermittent. Casa del Monacone is located in a very lively Neapolitan neighborhood, but we always felt safe and had no issues walking back there from the inner city late in the evening.
Heidi - UT, United States (June 2014)
We found the staff very helpful and pleasant.
Keith - Surrey, United Kingdom (June 2014)
Our host Giuseppe was very helpful and accommodating. The location was a haven, a welcome respite from the relentless frenetic movement of mopeds. Once inside the monastery is clean and features modern amenities. The rooms are just as featured in the photographs. It is centrally located to all of Naples sightseeing with the Catacombs of San Gaudioso next door. Included breakfast one of the best of all the monasteries we stayed at.
Anita - CA, United States (October 2013)
Our host "Nando" was extremely helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were fortunate to be present for the annual procession through the old city of the Patron Saint. The brass band and banners flying was a sight. Wonderful stay.
Vernon - Victoria, Australia (June 2013)
The guest house is very clean and very good value for money.
Annemarie - Gauteng, South Africa (June 2013)
A wonderful experience, our stay at casa del Monacone - I love the young men's mission, their passion & the commitment of the young men running the place. They have truly restored (& in progress of restoring more) it to a place of beauty. Initially I was a bit put off when I saw the location - but so pleased when I understood their mission to revitalize their district. Staying there was a highlight of my vacation, truly unique & meaningful.
Margretta - MS, USA (June 2013)
As a single female from the US travelling in Italy by myself, I found Casa del Monacone to be very comfortable, clean, safe, and a good value. The room was super quiet (with the windows closed) and newly remodelled. It was a bonus that my room had A/C, a refrigerator, and a television. Staff were friendly and helpful. The surrounding neighborhood had public transportation and a variety of shopping and food options. If I return to Naples, I will happily return to Casa del Monacone.
Stefani - CO, United States (October 2012)
I quoted 7 out of 10 for the sleeping quality but this is due only to the noisy surroundings (and not at all due to a lack of comfort in the monastery). In fact, this intense activity aroud the monastery is the reason why I wanted to be there and I enjoyed every second of my staying in such a picturesque environment.
