This is the perfect place for a seaside vacation in Liguria. Slightly off the beaten track, but bursting with history and attractions, this is a top offering in a fantastic city - a must see.

The small town of Borgio Verezzi has some fantastic attractions, making it a fantastic tourist destination for those looking for something off the beaten track. There is a cathedral in the city (the Church of St. Peter) which was built in the late 18th century, and is on the site where a castle defending the city used to stand. Another fascinating part of the city is the 'Grotte di Borgio Verezzi', which are caves discovered in 1933 and are a definitely worth a visit. The caves have paths inside them so they are easily accessed by tourists, and the sight along the tour is nothing short of amazing. Crystal clear waters and a vast array of colours are to be seen, as you wind through the different chambers. The caves have a historical significance as well, with fossils of extinct animals (such as the sabre tooth tiger) being discovered there over time. There are guided tours through the caves that are run all year round. The tour lasts for around an hour (currently, it does not run on Mondays during Winter). For those who wish to explore further around the area, then it is possible to reach Genoa by using the Autostrada dei Fiori (Highway of Flowers). One of the main suburbs in the hills of Borgio Verezzi, Piazza, holds a festival in summer that is quite popular in the region.
