Customer Reviews
Excellent place to stay. Thank you to the Sisters for being so welcoming.
Besides its fantastic and convenient location, we were totally charmed by the warm welcome we received from the sisters and Monica, the administrator. They couldn't have been more kind and helpful. We recommend learning some Italian as only Monica is the English speaker. However, getting around the city with limited local language skills is very easy.
Caroline - , United Kingdom (September 2022)
Simple, straightforward and extremely clean accommodation for those who need a place to sleep. The people I met there were gracious, welcoming and helpful. Highly recommended.
Clive - VIC, Australia (May 2022)
We loved our stay there! It really added to the experience of our vacation. The sisters are wonderful and very helpful, although it helps to know some Italian! The room was very comfortable and very quiet, which was perfect. The neighborhood is tranquil, despite being so close to the Vatican. Would definitely stay there again on our next visit!
Frederick - Q ROO, Mexico (April 2022)
We love staying here and it was wonderful that a few of the nuns were here when we visited in 2017 too. We always feel at home here and love that it is so easy to navigate Rome from this great location. I look forward to visiting again in the future!
Coleen - MD, United States (June 2019)
Mother Superior was such a lovely person. Having mass at 7 AM in the monastery was GREAT. The nuns were so accommodating and loving. They went out of their way to ensure our comfort and safety. God bless them all.
Jamie - Ontario, Canada (October 2017)
We loved our stay. We felt safe and cared while in Rome. I will definitely be visiting this monastery again!
Coleen - MD, USA (June 2017)
I would thoroughly recommend staying at Casa Per Ferie Beata Madre Margherita Caiani. The nuns are friendly and the location is fantastic. Only about 10 mins from the Vatican, easy walk to a metro, I walked into Rome on many days. You have a number of options for eating, I ate at a deli a couple a bit over a block away. I also bought food and stored in in the shared bar fridge to eat at the share table. It is quiet at night and you see the locals in the cafe across the road for breakfast.
Colleen - VIC, Australia (April 2017)
The nuns are wonderful and very helpful. We had to leave for the airport at 4:00 AM and a sister volunteered to wake up early to call us a cab and get us on our way. Great location, just a few minutes from the Metro and St. Peter's. The cafe across the street for breakfast is great and frequented by locals. There is also a supermarket across the street for grabbing food for picnics.
Matthew - IL, United States (March 2017)
The sisters were very welcoming and helpful and the convent was clean and comfortable
Margaret - Midlothian, United Kingdom (October 2016)
Rooms are sparse but the beds are really comfortable. The Nuns are wonderfully welcoming and helpful.
Marjory - Surrey, United Kingdom (October 2016)
The Sisters are very nice but don't talk English much.
Satryani - DKI JAKARTA, Indonesia (October 2016)
We had a wonderful time. Teresa and the nuns were so friendly. Everyone welcomed us and made us comfortable. It was a short walk to the both the bus stop, metro station and the Vatican. The grocery store across the road enabled us to watch our pennies and eat healthily, and the arrangement with the coffee shop was a good deal. We weren't sure of the neighbourhood, from what we'd seen on Google Earth, but it is well populated, bustling during the day but quiet and peaceful at night. We felt safe throughout our stay, had so much fun conversing with the nuns, and would recommend a stay here to anyone.
David - FL, United States (September 2016)
Had a wonderful time in Rome
The Casa we stayed was very nice, clean, comfortable and well secured. The sisters and staffs were very pleasant and accommodating to all our needs.
I'll highly recommended the place to my friends, relatives and to all who are looking for a secured and comfortable place.
Thanks again Sisters
Lourdes - IL, United States (September 2016)
I would highly recommend this beautiful Convent to anyone traveling to Rome. The sisters and staff were way more than helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. I would stay in no other location in Rome on my next visit. Sincerely, Tim - USA
Timothy - IL, United States (June 2016)
The sisters were so kind and helpful. Our room was very spacious. The sleep quality got a little lower rating just because the doors rattled a bit whenever anyone walked by, which was annoying but would not stop me from staying again.
Wendy - GA, United States (May 2016)
Very glad we opted to stay at this monastery. The place was very central, the room was spacious and exceptionally clean. Sister Cristina was very helpful, and every one else were very accommodating. Sabrina, the cleaning lady, was most charming and very informative. We will definitely go back to this monastery when we get the chance to visit Rome again. Thank you!
Mauro - British Columbia, Canada (April 2016)
This place in particular was a joy to stay at. The nuns are full of life and laughter, accommodating and helpful. Incredibly convenient to the Vatican.
Flor De Liz - NY, United States (April 2016)
This is well located and safe. A very good place to stay in Rome. The sisters did everything possible to ensure we had a good stay.
Pamela - New South Wales, Australia (October 2015)
The sisters are wonderful, and everything is immaculate. This is located on a busy street, but the windows block the noise very nicely. I would definitely return.
John - DC, United States (October 2015)
Nuns were so nice. They didn't speak English. It was very clean, and they even clean the room while you are out. They also had free wifi, though I couldn't get it to work on my iPhone. Easy walk to the Vatican. A little longer to Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, and Pantheon. But Metro and bus are very close. I would definitely stay there again.
Brad - OH, United States (June 2015)
Absolutely wonderful hospitality from the Mother Superior.
Hector - CA, United States (May 2015)
The sisters were excellent and welcoming to us. Event hough we didn't speak Italian, they were very patient with communicating with us. What a wonderful place to stay!! Grazie mille!!
Annie - NC, United States (May 2015)
The sisters were most welcoming. We managed to communicate even though they had little English. The rooms were spacious and cleaned every day by a friendly lady. The mini-market across the road was great.
Anne - , United Kingdom (April 2015)
Indeed value for money. Not only is the location near Vatican City, the place is very secureally which for me is very important. The location is surrounded by restaurants , groceries and boutiques ideal for shopping. Except for the language problems as most of the sisters on duty don't speak English, the sisters were all so nice and accommodating. I will surely go back if given the chance to visit Rome.
Rondain - metro Manila, Philippines (April 2015)
Best place in Rome
The sisters were a blessing and helped us amazingly. Will go back there!
Phillip - Victoria, Australia (October 2014)
The room was a good size and comfortable; beds were also comfortable; the in room bathroom was a plus; the nuns were very helpful in many ways and we were able to attend mass there which was enjoyable and appreciated. The location was super, close to an ATM, supermarket, cafeterias and about a 12 minute, simple one street walk to the street in front of the Vatican and a hop-on, hop-off bus stop from which we were able to save some walking to all historic sites (which was still exhausting, so the 10:30 curfew was no problem). The facility security was very comforting which provide a solid level of trust and added support. Staying in the monastery provided a faith filled warmth and comfort that my wife and I enjoyed and have never experienced before in any hotel, which simply added to our experience. My wife and I have already recommended the monastery to others.
John - NY, United States (October 2014)
High service level!
We've had a wonderfull stay!
Clean room, friendly staff!
Tim - , Netherlands (October 2014)
This was my second stay at Casa Per Ferie Beata Madre Margherita Caiani. I cannot say enough good things about these lovely Sisters. I go to Rome several times a year and try to book this venue and I haven't always been successful but I always try because it is the nicest, loveliest place in Rome. I stayed for three weeks. My last week I was sick and the sisters took great care of me. I will always be grateful.
Ann P - TX, United States (November 2013)
The sisters were very friendly and helpful -although no one spoke English. The room was large and very comfortable although a bit noisy at night.
Joan - NY, United States (November 2013)
It was wonderful. The rooms were large and roomy; the beds were the most comfortable in a month in France and Italy. The Sisters were superb and loving. For the Vatican, the location was great; the walks to visit the ancient Roman sites, the Spanish Steps, etc. were a little long.
Thomas - CA, United States (October 2013)
The stay was great. It was nice to have a secure room to keep my things. It was clean and very pleasant to be there. The women who run the monastery are very very nice and the only problem was that I don't speak much Italian. But I managed and I was glad I stayed there.
Ian - MA, United States (June 2013)
Truly enjoyable and exceeded my expectations! I had a single room, and the size was quite good for European standards. The room was absolutely spotless re cleanliness. The bathroom was quite modern and good size. Security access to the building is very good. While the Sisters spoke limited English, and I limited Italian, we managed to communicate and their very warm hospitality was appreciated. I would most certainly return as well as recommend this facility if you are looking for affordable lodging near the Vatican.
Patrick - MI, United States (April 2011)
It was spotlessly clean and the rooms had on-suite shower facilities. The last return time in the evenings was 10.30 but we were able to negotiate a late pass as our daughter was singing in a concert in the old town which did not finish until after 10. Only one nun was able to speak english and we do not speak Italian. Luckily she was on hand when needed.
R - East Yorkshire, United Kingdom (October 2010)
I really wasn't sure what to expect, but it was a lovely experience. The best thing, however, was the extraordinary hospitality of the sisters! My only complaint - rooms on the side of the main street were noisy, since windows had to be open due to the heat. A room fan would help alleviate two problems! Recommend without hesitation.
Rodger - NC, United States (June 2010)
No Breakfast
Richard - MN, United States (May 2010)
The rooms were clean and nice, everything was in order. We felt safe. The nuns did their best to make us comfortable. The only nun who spoke good English, was away four of our eight days there. One of the others did her best, she was extremely helpful, but it was sometimes a bit difficult.
Harald - Norge, Norway (May 2010)
We stayed at this monastery two years ago and loved it. That's why we booked it again! The sisters were so joyful. The rooms were immaculate. They cleaned our room daily. We felt very safe. Wish they would have had fresh coffee. They just had coffee available from a machine. Not very good. I already have recommended it to friends.
Jean - ND, United States (March 2010)
The Sisters made us feel so welcome and at home. The rooms were pristine. We had exactly zero complaints.
Ann P - TX, United States (February 2010)
Lovely rooms, comfy beds, excellent showers.
Anne - Western Australia, Australia (October 2009)
Friendly, very clean, large rooms
Norbert - , Germany (June 2009)
Our hosts were wonderful and very welcoming. The room was spacious, a great value and spotless. There was a small refrigerator where we could store food for breakfast/milk for our 1 yr old son. Location was good. Bathroom had bathtub w/shower hook up, but no shower curtain, so water inevitably went everywhere. The accomodations are very spartan with minimal amenities so it may not suit everyone's taste, but we are comfortable with this type of lodging.
Ashraf - DE, United States (May 2009)
I expected the monastery to be clean but i didn't expect it to be as clean as it was and with such excellent modern bathroom facilities and a large room. plus the sisters were so welcoming, helpful and adoring of my 2 year old son it really did make our stay special. The onlly comment/complaint i would have is that the street was extremely noisy even in the very early hours. It did disturb my husband and i from sleep. However i am aware there is nothing that can be done about this. And i already have recommended.
Christina - Berkshire, United Kingdom (May 2009)
Helpful happy clean. Great location. Everything we could have expected.
colin - Merseyside, United Kingdom (May 2009)
We had the most memorable experience at our Monastery and highly recommend it to everyone!!! Everything was excellent about our Monastery! The hospitality of the nuns, the cleanliness of the monastery. Just everything that a person could wish for was experienced by all of us during our stay. I cannot think of one thing that was not good about the monastery. The nuns could not have done more to make us feel comfortable and at home. They were all very friendly and got to know each one of us. They welcomed us back home each time we returned to the monastery from an outing. We are most grateful to the nuns for everything!!! I would positively and very strongly recommend this particular monastery to family and friends!!
Patricia - LA, United States (November 2008)
It was very clean, very secure and great value for money. The nuns were very warm and friendly. The 10:30pm curfew limited us on the locations that we could eat dinner at around Rome and we weren't able to explore the city at nights as much as we would have liked. Yes I would recommend, but I would warn them about the curfew, as it would not suit all people, perhaps it would be better suited to families.
Catherine - New South Wales, Australia (October 2008)
It was very clean and close to the metro.
JoAnn - PA, United States (October 2008)
Exceptionally clean and very friendly. They spoke no English or French. Yes, but only if they're comfortable with no one speaking English.
Donald - IN, United States (October 2008)
The stay was delightful. The nuns were very friendly and warm and the rooms immaculately clean. The bed was the most comfortable I had slept in during my 5 week stay in Tuscany and then Rome. I would very definately recommend the stay to anybody planning a trip to Italy. In fact I already have. All a very good experience! No complaints at all.
helena - Victoria, Australia (October 2008)
The nuns were fantastic, warm, very welcoming & although could speak very little english - we all did our best to communicate & were successful - it had a lift to the rooms which were spotless. The nuns were incredibly helpful with information, calling taxi, directions etc.
joann - Victoria, Australia (June 2008)
Very clean and well received. We were well received and treated very nicely. The rooms were not modern by a hotel standards but were very clean and had all what was needed for a comfortable nights stay. The security was excellent. There was nothing that we encountered that was not so good. The only issue for anyone who wanted to experience the night life of rome would be the curfue of 10:30 in the evening that could cause some problems. We would definetely stay at that monastery again. We really enjoyed the experience, the nuns were very nice and pleasant.
Lucy - NH, United States (May 2008)
What a convenient, place to stay. It was quiet and restful after a long day touring. The sisters were lovely. The location is very convenient. It was perfect for us.
Margaret - MN, United States (March 2008)
The empathy and sympathy of the sisters caring for us after we had been pick pocketed on the metro coming to the lodging was terrific! The room was spotless. Would they consider having thermoses filled with hot water for our personal coffee or tea?
Chris - CA, United States (November 2007)
Very friendly staff. Huge room with everything I needed, that was super clean. It would have been nice to have had the opportunity to have breakfast, but I don't really want to complain about this.
Susan - London, United Kingdom (October 2007)
We knew that the accommodation would be clean and simple. The Sisters were wonderful although they didn't speak a word of English and we have no Italian, but it worked out fine. Our room was on the front side of the monastery and the street noise at night was somewhat disturbing. Extremely clean and safe.
Glynn - LA, United States (October 2007)
I was not sure what to expect, but the location and general quality of the amenities was very good. The sisters and staff were helpful and friendly. The facility was very clean, even though basic The language was a problem for all of us. I spoke english and the sisters Italian, but somehow we all got through ok. Lots of good will.
paul - New South Wales, Australia (October 2007)
Extremely clean.
Vincent - NY, United States (September 2007)
It was very clean and the nuns were friendly.
The bathroom was very nice and the bed was very comfortable.
It was very affordable. Most of the nuns did not speak English but lukily we had an Italian speaking person with us.
It was very noisy on the street and sometimes difficult to fall asleep with the noise.
It was a safe, clean and affordable place.
