Fantastic place to stay while in Florence. Beyond all of our expectations. Great hosts.
James - CO, United States (June 2024)
Great place to stay for a few days in Florence, it is a working Convent, so the somewhat Spartan but spotlessly clean rooms were as expected. The Sisters themselves were welcoming and efficient.
Deirdre - CO CORK, Ireland (February 2023)
The nuns were lovely. The room was clean with good beds. Just a bit noisy if your windows are open. All in all a great location and nice place to stay.
Deborah - BC, Canada (October 2022)
Excellent location and friendly sisters. The room is comfortable and clean and the bathroom is spacious. The only downside is that the area is not too far from the University, so on the weekends there is lots of noise from outside late at night.
Angelica - NY, United States (October 2022)
Thank you so much for a wonderful stay. Everyone was so kind and welcoming and the room was clean and comfortable. Would stay here again and again.
Alexandra - WA, United States (September 2022)
Lovely quiet room. Comfortable bed. Laundry service on site was appreciated. Evening meal
Offerings were convenient and good. Location is very good. Easy to get to via public transit. Staff friendly and helpful. I would return.
Rebecca - OH, United States (September 2022)
An excellent place to stay as a young woman alone overnight - welcoming and safe atmosphere, clean bedroom, delicious and generous breakfast, and best of all a great powerful shower in the bathroom!
Cosima - Hampshire, United Kingdom (August 2022)
It was amazing - the sisters were so helpful and friendly and to lectionary superb.
Brett - BC, Canada (June 2022)
This is the second time I have stayed at this convent. I highly recommend it. I feel like the friendliness of the sisters, the cleanliness, and location far outweigh the meager breakfast offerings. I supplement the breakfast with my own granola.
Alice - MA, United States (June 2022)
Accueil et efficacité des sœurs excellent
Jean-Michel - , France (June 2022)
Excellent! In a very good position, especially if you're interested in the area around Sant'Ambrogio and Santa Croce. The convent surrounds a lovely, large garden (not visible from the street) which is available for guests to enjoy. The nuns are extremely helpful and obliging. Would recommend without hesitation!
Clive - VIC, Australia (June 2022)
We had a view of the Duomo. The Sisters were very accommodating!!
Victoria - OH, United States (June 2022)
The people running this place (nuns) are very welcoming, pleasant and helpful. The room was clean, and provided with all necessary amenities for a week long stay. Even an anti mosquito device was provided :) ... Considering then the average cost of a hotel room in that city ... this place offered really good value for money.
All in all - an excellent place to stay when visiting Florence. Everything can be reached by foot! Highly recommended.
Goetz - , Germany (May 2022)
The sisters are very friendly, helpful, and available. My room was awesome, I booked a single but was in a double with a garden view, and no neighboring rooms so I had very little noise at night. The location is excellent, a short walk down the street to the Cathedral or to the plazas and museums.
Thomas - OR, United States (February 2022)
Everything was great. The Sisters were kind and accommodating. The location was perfect...within walking distance of most everything we wanted to see. Would definitely stay there again.
Barbara - KS, United States (February 2022)
I loved my stay! Amazing location, great staff, clean and comfortable room. Will be using monastery stays for all my trips in the future!
Amelia - LA, United States (February 2022)
I had a wonderful stay. The room and facility were spotlessly clean and the Sisters were kind and helpful. I highly recommend and I will stay here again.
Pete - AZ, United States (February 2022)
Sisters were very welcoming. We joined them for Mass each morning. There were no facilities for coffee making, as the machine was broken for the week we were there. So, pleasant, with a basic breakfast. The best feature was its location by walking to so much of Florence. Once we had our bearings, it was ideal there.
Br. - RM, Italy (December 2021)
Everything was lovely!
Jill - CA, United States (November 2021)
We had a lovely time and appreciate your kindness and hospitality.
Shannon - IL, United States (June 2021)
Great facility!
Wendy Jane - NB, Canada (April 2020)
Very pleasant atmosphere.
William - London, United Kingdom (February 2020)
My room was perfect and the Sisters were warm, friendly and helpful, whether speaking in english or french (my italian is not good, at all). The breakfast offering and coffee was just right. The room was comfortable, though I didn't sleep too soundly, as the hallways can be loud with other visitors on their phones or walking heavily with bags and there is a reverberation of sounds. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and accommodations.
Anne - LA, United States (January 2020)
Very good location. Kindness. Calm but not far from the center.
Jean-Yves - , France (December 2019)
I had a beautiful time here. I was a single woman on pilgrimage and wanted somewhere safe and convenient to stay in Florence. The location was ideal for me. It's not on a busy street, but it's still close to the Duomo and Uffizi (2 of my main interests). There was also a mini grocery store nearby. I loved walking in the garden after breakfast and praying in the chapel. The sisters were so kind and joyful. Their cheerfulness helped me wake up more than the delicious coffee! I will definitely stay again the next time I visit Florence.
Audrey - OK, United States (November 2019)
We loved it! Such a beautiful place with very friendly nuns. And we met some lovely people over breakfast.
Margaret - WA, Australia (October 2019)
What a lovely, peaceful spot to stay in Florence!
Sandra - ON, Canada (October 2019)
We were very pleased with our accommodations and the location of Ferie Suore Oblate dell Assunzione - Borgo Pinti. The garden was a peaceful escape from the bustle of the city and the Nuns could not have been more helpful. Their cheerful attitude and bright smiles really set the tone for the day. The late night street noises could not be avoided, but it seemed a small price to pay when everything else was perfect. We will do it again!
Laurel - ME, United States (October 2019)
Clean, friendly; thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Dennis - New Jersey, USA (October 2019)
This was my second stay here but not the last. I have been very pleased.
Frances - IL, United States (October 2019)
What an amazing, peaceful view from our window! Rooms were cleaned every day. Location was great. Walkable and we loved the fact that about a 5 minute walk we were at restaurants where the locals ate.
Brigitte - IL, United States (October 2019)
High praise and many thanks. We had high expectations for our stay in Florence, but our stay with the nuns on Borgo Pinti far exceeded the expectations. They were gracious and kind, answering our questions and meeting our needs. We particularly enjoyed have a quiet glass of wine in the garden on several evenings! If we come back to Florence we will definitely stay again at Casa per Ferie Suore Oblate .
Barbara - TN, United States (September 2019)
Really enjoyed my stay with the sisters, the property is in a great location and beautiful inside and out, the gardens in particular are stunning. The sisters were very helpful with booking a taxi. Very safe, clean, and ample breakfast provided each day.
Sally - VIC, Australia (July 2019)
Lovely haven amidst the busyness of Florence. The accommodation is basic but more than adequate.
The nuns are friendly but respect your own space.
The courtyard with the flowers is a welcome quiet space.
Emma - , United Kingdom (July 2019)
Thanks to the Sisters for their warm and simple welcome and their kindness
Aurore - , France (July 2019)
A perfect oasis during our stay in Florence. The sisters were so accommodating. We arrived early (9:00 am) and we were able to drop our bags off. We also kept our bags there after our checkout in order to visit a museum before we left Florence. Upon our arrival the sister at the front desk offered us refreshment which we so gladly accepted. The atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming, the interior of the building is a work of art, the rooms were very comfortable and clean and the location was very central to everything. We were 2 adults and 3 children in 2 rooms. We took breakfast in the garden (absolutely beautiful and peaceful).
On our next stay in Florence we will definitely stay again at Casa per Ferie.
Anthony - NJ, United States (July 2019)
Excellent location and facilities.
Annia - Hampshire, United Kingdom (July 2019)
It was a great stay! The breakfast, although continental, was adequate for our family. The rooms were sized just right. There was an air conditioner that you could control and worked well (and it was HOT when we were there in July!!). The only concern for me was the firmness of the bed, but honestly, all hotels in Europe have firmer beds unless you are staying at a high end hotel. We attended a daily mass and it was a treat for us. The inner garden was really nice! Make sure you take advantage of that! The sisters arranged for our taxi to the airport. Walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Restaurants within 5-10 min walk.
Rebecca - AR, United States (June 2019)
The sisters were very sweet and helpful. The room was very nice. I'm glad it had air conditioning. Location was central to the Duomo and other great sites. I would have liked a screen on the windows, due to the number of mosquitos that were active in Italy at this time. And I know it's not always possible, but I'd love more options for those of us that don't eat gluten or sugar (breakfast). Overall, I would definitely recommend it!
Dana - CA, United States (June 2019)
Very accommodating and updated facility with appropriate amenities.
Edward - MO, United States (June 2019)
Excellent.
Elena - CIUDAD AUT?NOMA DE BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (June 2019)
The service was great, the nuns were very friendly, very close to the the Duomo and other sites. There are plenty of restaurant close by. Our room off the garden was very quiet and pleasant. We enjoyed our five night stay very much.
Greg - CA, United States (June 2019)
Nuns very pleasant and welcoming.
Emily - Sir Benfro, United Kingdom (June 2019)
Gracious hosts and lovely sitting rooms and garden. Very close to the Duomo and museums. A true oasis of calm in Florence.
Paula - IL, United States (June 2019)
The location is excellent, the sisters were cheerful, helpful and friendly. It is a good place to stay.
Gordon - , United Kingdom (May 2019)
The staff is amazing - so helpful and accommodating. The location is perfect, residential but 15 minutes walking to historic areas - we walked everywhere in all directions. Rooms were fine, bathroom updated.
Shari - GA, United States (May 2019)
Perfect.
Richard - QC, Canada (April 2019)
Nice and quiet convent. Well situated and quite enjoyable.

It was a good value for a very spare room and breakfast in a wonderful location. Would be lovely in the spring.
Everyone was very nice there.
Jane - CA, United States (March 2019)
We loved staying at the monastery. Great location, awesome service. The sisters that run the monastery are very sweet and accommodating. The building decor is old European, if you want fancy, not for you, but if you want authentic, good mojo, than come here! I can’t say enough!
Tracy - CO, United States (March 2019)
The rooms are small, but the public spaces are wonderful and more than make up for that. Loved the Garden and the Nuns were all delightful. Great Coffee in the morning.
Joseph - CO, United States (November 2018)
Incredible rooms, wonderful caring nuns, great location!
Katelyn - KS, United States (October 2018)
The nuns and their service was wonderful, location excellent. Twin beds were quite small/narrow for adults.
We had a great stay in Florence.
Thank you
Susan - Nsw, Australia (October 2018)
Wonderful stay could not recommend this accommodation highly enough. Sisters were always helpful. Loved the peaceful garden
Robert - , United Kingdom (October 2018)
Loved the location. Easy walk to several of Florence’s best sites. Comfortable beds and quiet for sleeping. Sisters were available to help as needed.
Wonderful garden for meditation.
Rhonda - TX, United States (October 2018)
Our thanks to the nuns for all the services...lovely breakfast with view of the garden (a respite from the hustle & bustle of busy Florence) and for arranging our taxi service to the airport upon departure. The location was perfect, being close to the Duomo and with excellent restaurants on the same street.
Lee B - MA, United States (September 2018)
This place is a real gem. Friendly, helpful sisters run it. They speak Italian, French, and some English. The house is enormous with many hallways and many sitting rooms to spread out it. Ceilings in the public rooms have frescoes, and there are frescoed walls here and there. If you're lucky your room will face the courtyard garden, full of fruit and oive trees, and roses. You can stroll there. The rooms themselves are what you might expect in a convent: simple and spare. Our room had two narrow twin beds. The bathroom in our room, and those in the hall, were luxurious and modern. The sisters were great about allowing us to leave our luggage after check out so that we could tour the city more before we left town. The location is convenient to the Duomo and other sites, and close to many restaurants. I wish we could have stayed many days more than we did. You could live there for a summer and be comfortable and fine.
Edward - PA, United States (September 2018)
As always a lovely welcome. Lovely garden and quiet atmosphere; simple breakfast but adequate and plentiful; interesting area and central location; Useful late curfew allowing us to get to the opera and back. I love Monastery Stays!
Elizabeth - Hampshire, United Kingdom (September 2018)
The sisters couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. They radiate joy.
Marilou Figone - CA, United States (September 2018)
The nuns were so lovely. The whole experience there was amazing. The view from our room was beautiful. Highly recommend this beautiful place.
Peta - VIC, Australia (September 2018)
Beautiful place to stay. Plenty of places to go out for dinner. The nuns were very helpful as to were to go. Easy walking distance to almost all the city attractions. The rooms were plenty big for 2.
George - TX, United States (September 2018)
Thank you so much! The sisters were so gracious in answering our questions and helping us. The peace and quiet of your sanctuary was the perfect antidote to the busyness and heat of Florence. Which we also loved.
I would want to stay here again if I come back to Florence.
Kim - WA, United States (September 2018)
Great location, safe and clean, and the nuns were friendly and helpful
Katherine - British Columbia, Canada (September 2018)
Guided tours leave early, it would be good to have an earlier breakfast.
Very satisfied.
Christiane - QC, Canada (August 2018)
It was a truly refreshing and relaxing stay - the Sisters were really welcoming, and the Convent was both quiet and central Would definitely visit again!
Demelza - Devon, United Kingdom (August 2018)
The sisters couldn't be more helpful, and they all seemed so joyful. The room and all the common areas were absolutely spotless. The room was in excellent condition. The furnishing was adequate but austere, as it should be in a convent, but it did make me feel rather lonely; perhaps a softer/warmer light (rather than the harsh fluorescent light) would help make the room feel cosier. The air-conditioning was a Godsend (pardon the pun).
Janet - , United Kingdom (August 2018)
We loved staying here. The Sisters were so nice and welcoming. We enjoyed the garden. The room was nice and clean with good storage for our bags. Everything we needed was provided: breakfast, wifi, soap, shampoo, etc. Also, the location is close to the Duomo and central to the Florence sites. I would highly recommend.
Laura - CA, United States (July 2018)
It was a wonderful stay, and I am extremely thankful to have found this monastery. We were a family of five and we felt very accommodated. The nuns working were very kind and we couldn't have asked for a better spot to see the sites in Florence. They also called a taxi for us and made it such a smooth trip to Santa Maria Novella station without the stress of calling and trying to find a taxi that fits five. Having access for mass was also very wonderful. Thank you so much again to those at Casa per Ferie Suore Oblate dell'Assunzione.
Maria D - CA, United States (June 2018)
Such a lovely place! Beautiful courtyard to relax in after a day of touring the busy city. Kind and friendly staff (even when we had to work on the language barrier). Breakfast was simple but the coffee was hot and good. The location was fantastic and we loved the simplicity and cleanliness of our room.
Laura - TN, United States (June 2018)
It was very enjoyable and the nuns were very welcoming and helpful.
Catherine - , United Kingdom (May 2018)
Great location--around the corner from the Duomo, a short walk from many historical and cultural attractions; the building is beautiful. The neighborhood has some excellent restaurants, so we didn't have far to walk to get home after a delicious Tuscan meal. The Casa was quiet, clean, restful; the coffee was fantastic, and breakfast was adequate but limited in variety. The sisters were friendly and very helpful. Highly recommended.
Lucinda - ME, United States (May 2018)
We was onsite during pentecote, the house and the garden are wonderful. Also the holy mass with the sisters are great.
Thanks for this days!
Andreas - , Germany (May 2018)
The nuns were all so friendly, willing to answer questions and help with local travel queries. Made to feel so very welcome.
The location is absolutely fantastic and we were able to walk to all parts of this beautiful city.
The convent and it's gardens, were absolutely stunning, reflecting the heritage and beauty that is Florence.
A wonderful experience.
Bernadette - SA, Australia (May 2018)
It was lovely. We loved the charming monastery and the sisters were so pleasant and helpful. Would love to go back.
Susan - ON, Canada (May 2018)
A really delightful peaceful and welcoming place.
Zoe - East Lothian, United Kingdom (April 2018)
Wonderful place to stay. Very secured, quiet and relaxing. Retreat type atmosphere. The Sister's called for our taxi at 6:30am which took us to airport.
Anthony - PA, United States (April 2018)
Casa per Ferie Suore was maybe a 10-15 min. walk from the train and a 3 min.walk to the Duomo, Medici Chapel. Safe, quiet location. Very clean, comfortable beds and a huge bathroom. Typical Italian breakfast, cereals, breads, fruit, coffee, juices. The nuns were very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely stay here again!
Suzanne - NC, United States (March 2018)
I loved the peace and quiet and the cleanliness, and the helpful staff. If I had one complaint it would be that the breakfasts were very minimal.
Keith - VT, United States (March 2018)
Great, The sisters were very helpful and welcoming. The room was very clean. The location was perfect, it was accessible to everything. I would definitely recommend this place
Eden - BC, Canada (March 2018)
Casa per Ferie Suore Oblate dell'Assunzione is a fantastic choice for a stay in Florence. The location is incredible the rooms are clean and the facilities are beautiful. We will stay there again.
Dr. David - WA, USA (February 2018)
Great place, wonderful sisters, great location.
Michele - PV, Italy (February 2018)
Loved it. Would definitely go there again.
Christopher - RM, Italy (February 2018)
It was a beautiful experience staying here. The sisters were very obliging and extremely friendly. Most didn’t speak English but always had someone close by who did. If you are staying as a couple there are only twin single beds but that wasn’t a problem for us. We knew before we went. It’s well worth it for the experience. Rooms very spacious and modern and clean private bathrooms. If you want something different to a hotel room I highly recommend this place. Central to all the sites.
Michael - NT, Australia (January 2018)
They were very gracious in letting us store our luggage and use the lounge and bathrooms during the day after our checkout.
David - NE, USA (January 2018)
Great place to stay, and I highly recommend it! It's located in the heart of the city (about 500 meters) from the Duomo, and about 600 meters from the Accademia, and is surrounded by a great neighbourhood that feels safe and is easily accessible. The sisters were extremely hospitable, and I found everything exactly as described. The room had a very clean and new bathroom located in it, and also had 2 twin beds. As a female travelling alone I searched for a while to find a place that I'd feel safe and comfortable, and this place really helped provide both of these feelings. I highly recommend it, especially for any solo travellers!
Stefanie - WA, United States (December 2017)
The sisters were wonderful, patient and accommodating. I enjoyed my stay.
Agnes - IN, United States (November 2017)
Really enjoyed my stay - will recommend to my friends and colleagues. Many thanks.
Michael - , United Kingdom (November 2017)
Wonderful building. Hospitable.
Marieann - NSW, Australia (October 2017)
Thank you for everything.
Vincent - , France (October 2017)
It was located within a few minutes' walk from the Piazza del Duomo - fantastic location! Although that part of Florence is quite busy during the day, it wasn't too noisy to sleep at night. The nuns were friendly and helpful, and the room was spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was excellent. The breakfast provided was very generous, and even featured house-made jam. There is also a lovely garden which guests can use. There are several rooms dotted around the building where one can sit and read or just enjoy the peace. All in all, this is an excellent place to stay and I have already recommended it to several people. The location close to Piazza del Duomo makes it ideal for getting to the main attractions of Florence. Walking distance to Santa Maria Novella station, although tricky if you have a heavy suitcase.
Catherine - VIC, Australia (October 2017)
I thought it was great and the sisters were very sweet and helpful.
Pauline - Vic, Australia (October 2017)
Simply outstanding stay. The room was large, beautifully maintained, with a private bathroom that was one of the largest we had during our 6 week stay in Italy and Greece.
Gregory - CO, United States (October 2017)
Excellent accommodation, clean rooms and friendly staff.
Sebastian - Vic, Australia (October 2017)
We had a wonderful stay at this delightful monastery. The location is fabulous - just a few minutes walk to the Duomo. The rooms were comfortable and the breakfast simple but sufficient. The fresh fruit was particularly welcome. The nuns were so lovely - very friendly and welcoming and spoke perfect English.
Rae-Anne - QLD, Australia (September 2017)
Nuns were very nice and pleasant to interact with. Great location. A nice tranquil landscaped courtyard to relax and refresh.
James - FL, United States (August 2017)
This is a brilliant option for a stay in Florence. Friendly, clean, good value and great location. I will definitely aim to return.
Ann - Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom (June 2017)
This was a lovely place to stay, in a beautiful, quiet area and with well-appointed rooms and beautiful furniture. The nuns were lovely. We highly recommend it.
Tamara - MI, USA (June 2017)
This is a fabulous location and there are always more sisters available for helping the travelers than at other venues.
Jennifer - GA, USA (June 2017)
The guesthouse is very beautiful, clean, and conveniently located very close to the city center. The nuns were extremely friendly and helpful. There are many nearby options for food and nightlife. Unfortunately, the nearby nightlife is also one of the reasons why I gave a rating of only 5 for the sleep quality. Although my room was acceptably comfortable, it faced onto the street, and from the hours of 2am - 4am there was a non-stop parade of extremely loud, extremely rowdy revelers moving up and down the street. To a certain extent this is to be expected in a busy city, especially in tourist seasons - but the disruption was extreme. To be clear, this is no fault of the guesthouse! Rather this is just something about the location fellow travelers may want to keep in mind, especially if they are traveling during tourist season. Everything else exceeded my expectations, and I would still recommend this guest house to friends and colleagues.
Devon - TX, United States (June 2017)
I had a wonderful stay here! The building was serene and a lovely place to rest after a busy day of sightseeing. The nuns were kind and welcoming. I highly recommend it!
Stephanie - ON, Canada (May 2017)
A delightful 4 night stay in a lovely building. The personnel were cheerful and helpful. The courtyard garden was a bonus. The street was quiet. A range of very good restaurants within five minutes' walk; the main sights within ten minutes. Highly recommended.
David - , United Kingdom (April 2017)
Very friendly and helpful - well located
Anne - NSW, Australia (April 2017)
The sisters were wonderful, very helpful. We were within walking distance to everything. Rooms were very clean. We'd really enjoyed our stay.
Vicky - MT, United States (October 2016)
Thank you to the friendly and helpful sisters to make this a memorable stay.
Anton - Ontario, Canada (September 2016)
Ideal location. Warm reception. Calm. Good sleep. Air conditionning. Top notch bathroom. All was good !
Totally enjoyed our 3-night stay! The hotel was clean, extremely well located, and had the most wonderful artifacts to study. We would, and have, highly recommend Casa per Ferie in Florence!
Gary - Ontario, Canada (August 2016)
Spotlessly clean and very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely, well-tended and peaceful garden. Very central; about 20 minutes walk to the Uffizi.
Michelle - Gloucestershire, United Kingdom (August 2016)
Lovely garden and the nuns were so nice. The cake at breakfast was amazing.
Joanna - NY, United States (July 2016)
This was my first stay through Monastery Stays and I was really delighted by the experience, and will return and have already recommended to friends. The sleep quality was reduced only because of a slightly uncomfortable mattress and the room was very warm through the night - though that was to be expected in mid-July. Very good value, delightful and welcoming sisters, very well located, simple but completely adequate breakfast and peaceful garden in which to sit and read when it was just too hot for walking around.
Susan - Hampshire, United Kingdom (July 2016)
This place is fantastic! Clean, great location, great hospitality, beautiful facility- just wonderful. Also, the sisters were very helpful and arranged a cab, etc, because of the language issues I had.
Mark - British Columbia, Canada (July 2016)
The sisters were very welcoming. It was a relaxing and peaceful place to stay. We appreciated the access to wifi. A ceiling fan would have helped to cool the room down in soaring Florence temperatures. We also would have appreciated access to a kettle to make ourselves a cup of tea in the evening.
Simone - , New Zealand (July 2016)
It was my first time to Florence, and I was traveling on my own for those first few days. Staying at the B&B Oblate was the perfect thing! It was clean, safe and peaceful. I enjoyed myself there very much.
Kimberly - MN, United States (July 2016)
We loved staying at the convent in Florence. I stayed three years ago on another trip with my brother, and came back again this trip. We loved the quiet peacefulness, the nuns were warm and welcoming, and I enjoyed the improvements made since the last trip, with working air conditioning in each room and free wifi.
Deborah - CA, United States (June 2016)
The sisters were very friendly and helpful
Kellie - Australian Capital Territory, Australia (June 2016)
Highly recommended, especially to female solo travellers.Loved the quiet, spacious interior and the lovely garden.I did not realise the door bell is found on the copperplate.Would love to stay here again.Do note the walls are thin and if adjacent occupants are noisy that will be a problem.Fortunately for me they toned down their volume after a while. During my stay I had to prep my room each night due to presence of a few mosquitoes but this is just my own quirk. Really enjoyed my stay and the kindness of the nun on duty.
Loon - , Singapore (May 2016)
There are only a couple nuns here who speak English so sometimes there was a delay getting help, but overall, they were great.
The garden courtyard is quite lovely.
The location is convenient to the Duomo Square.
The breakfast was more extensive than some.
There was quite a bit of noise, from both inside and outside sources, but earplugs dealt with most of it.
Karen - Alberta, Canada (May 2016)
Such a peaceful retreat behind the hustle and bustle of Florence city and such a beautiful garden that we opened the shutters onto every morning. The Nuns were so obliging.
Christine - Kent, United Kingdom (May 2016)
This is a historic Florence building, about 6 mins walk from the Duomo; but it isn't a touristy area, unlike most of central Florence. The building is beautiful. There are several sitting areas. Most of them have antique furniture; some have wooden-beamed ceilings; one has wall covered in frescos; another overlooks the convent's garden, and has a view of part of the Duomo. The nuns are friendly. The rooms are simple. Some have views of the garden; mine didn't have a view, it looked into a small courtyard. There is artwork on the walls of the public areas, and some art catalogues in the sitting areas. Breakfast is simple - bread, jam, coffee. There is a small chapel. The place is incredibly clean; it shines.
Patrick - , Ireland (April 2016)
This was my first monastery stay and I was very pleased with the experience. The sisters were helpful and kind.
The room was quiet and I slept very well, and woke to birdsong every morning.
Breakfast was ok.. But I would probably add fruit and yogurt if I were to stay again.
Fantastic central location, I hope to stay with the sisters in the future.
Wonderful, peaceful retreat. Excellent location. Very helpful staff
Kevin - NC, United States (January 2016)
I found the mattress a bit hard.
I enjoyed the sisters' hospitality and meeting other guests at breakfast.
The location is fabulous!
Gertrude - Saskatchewan, Canada (November 2015)
I loved my stay here! This was such a good value and the location was outstanding. I met so many terrific people here as well, and the sisters were generous and quite helpful to the guests. The house is beautiful and the rooms have everything you need - bathrooms are very modern as well. The experience overall was exceptional and I would recommend this site to anyone.
Jonathan - NC, United States (November 2015)
A very serene place with a great location. The sisters were pleasant and helpful, calling us a taxi at the end of our stay.
Isabel - MA, United States (October 2015)
The sisters were very friendly. They all spoke Italian, of course, but some of them also spoke English and French. Breakfast was simple but sufficient and even better, I dare say, than breakfast that I've had in some hotels in Italy. The location was strategic, being close to the Duomo and other major sites. There was a bit of outdoor noise in the evenings, but it was very easy to shut it out by closing the door to the bathroom.
The heating could have been better, and you'll probably need an adaptor for some of your devices, even if you live in Europe. WiFi was excellent. Consider making a small donation for WiFi access, as the sisters suggest.
If you want to join the sisters for Mass, plan to be in the chapel for 45 minutes or so, since they say their prayers after Mass and it is difficult to leave in the middle of their prayers.
Build in some time for checking in and checking out. Pay in advance if you have to leave early so that you can just leave your key at the reception.
Maria Socorro - , Germany (October 2015)
Delightful stay at great value; the Sisters were most helpful and patient with my limited Italian.
Deborah - CA, United States (October 2015)
Wonderful room and terrific location. The nuns were delightful and it was nice to be able to interact with them.
Sylvia - VA, United States (October 2015)
The two of us and the couple we traveled with can't be more complimentary of our hosts and the accommodations at Suore Oblate dell'Assunzione - Borgo Pinti. The sisters were gracious, efficient, and warm. Our rooms and the common areas were pleasantly and restfully simple. The breakfasts were nutritious and filling. We're grateful that the sisters would open their unassuming hospitality and beautiful home to us.
William - MN, United States (October 2015)
This is beautifully located and a lovely place to stay. The sisters are very helpful and kind.
Pamela - New South Wales, Australia (September 2015)
The sisters were wonderful! They were very welcoming, and the rooms were excellent. I would definitely return.
John - DC, United States (September 2015)
Sisters were absolutely lovely and very jolly! - we had a family sized room which was much grander than we had expected with lots of room. The building was very quiet despite being virtually in the centre of the city with the added benefit of a pretty walled garden to enjoy.
Elizabeth - Devon, United Kingdom (September 2015)
They should have a little more info available in english-- ie about the house, its customs etc
Patricia - Ontario, Canada (September 2015)
It was just perfect.
Nathalie - , France (August 2015)
To stay in a monastery is very calming & peaceful. Its location was convenient. The nuns were very kind.
Nancy - Ontario, Canada (August 2015)
This second booking I made was for my son so I am answering for him.
Nancy - Ontario, Canada (August 2015)
I was pleasantly surprised by my stay. The building and feel of the place was so peaceful and serene. Sister Jean was lovely and very helpful. I barely noticed other people were staying on the premises. I especially appreciated the quiet garden after a day of too many people on the streets of Firenze.
Janice - NY, United States (August 2015)
The sisters were very kind and welcoming, The convent is like walking back in time. The antiques were amazing. The beautiful tile floors were clean and gleaming. Individual AC in the rooms was truly a blessing in the Florence heat in August.
Linda - NY, United States (August 2015)
It exceeded my expectations and I would always choose it over a hotel.
Harry - Ontario, Canada (July 2015)
We loved our stay with the sisters. We were 2 adults and a baby and we stayed in a twin room. The sisters were very warm and welcoming and the monastery was beautiful and perfectly located. The breakfast was more than we were expecting with homemade cake, fresh fruit, coffee/tea/milk, bread and homemade jams. The beds were comfortable, it's just that the rooms were a little small for our situation. The bathroom with shower was lovely. We heartily recommend a stay at this monastery.
Ellen - IN, United States (July 2015)
Great location close to very center of city. Nuns were very friendly and helpful although at times was a bit of problem with language differences. Breakfast was very basic but good. Will definitely stay here when visiting Florence in future.
David - TN, United States (July 2015)
This is a wonderful Monastery. The nuns are lovely, you feel like home. Breakfast provided was great and it has a fantastic location. The nuns are always willing to help you and the ambience is beautiful. They have a table in the courtyard. It is amazing! you can take your breakfast there. It is so peaceful. Highly recommended!
Mrs - VIC, Australia (July 2015)
Staying at Suore Oblate dell'Assunzione was a perfect experience. It is centrally located but a complete sanctuary of quiet and coolness. When I return to Florence I will try to reserve space here and will recommend it to all my friends!
Kristi - CA, United States (June 2015)
The Convent is very convenient and the sisters were helpful but non-obtrusive. The wifi in the room is highly useful as there is no phone.
Cecilia G - Oxfordshire, United Kingdom (June 2015)
Great place to stay and great service. So close to Duomo, Santa Croce, and Uffizi; I walked to all. It was unusually hot for June and the AC worked great.
Mary Ellen - WV, United States (June 2015)
A gem. Loved the quiet and simplicity.
Frances - CA, United States (May 2015)
This was a great solution for me. I enjoyed the stay and talking with other guests.
Ellen - OH, United States (May 2015)
Our room was charming and stunningly beautiful, with a Florentine style ceiling that matched those in the Uffizi Gallery. The gardens were beautiful and the nuns were gracious and kind. This booking was definitely a highlight of my trip to Italy and if I, hopefully, make it back to Florence, I will make sure to book my stay here again.
Laurel - VA, United States (May 2015)
The nuns were very helpful and accommodating. One even assisted us with our departure at 4:30 am. Their English was very limited so we spoke primarily in French with them since we did not speak Italian.
Andrea - AB, Canada (May 2015)
The sisters were just wonderful. Everything was as expected except the beds were really hard. But after a couple of days we got used to them. The location was awesome and the garden was very relaxing.
Robert - MO, United States (May 2015)
What an elegant facility! It certainly gives you the Renaissance experience.
Jane - OH, United States (May 2015)
Beautiful building and lovely staff. We enjoyed our stay.
Simone - New South Wales, Australia (April 2015)
This was an amazing place to stay in Florence. It was quiet, clean, convenient to everything. We were able to walk to most places and thoroughly enjoyed out Stay. I would definitely recommend this Monastery to anyone. Great find!
Rose Ann - TX, United States (April 2015)
Very nice place. The nuns are very nice. It feels safe.
Elda - SC, United States (April 2015)
We loved this place! Upon entering after a walk for the train station and all of the noise and such from long flights, train from Rome and then the walk across Florence, we were greeted by wonderful quiet. Not just audio but also the serenity of the inside of the buildings! Our room was open to the front of the building but there was little noise at night. The room itself was filled with antiques including what looked to be a very old frescoed ceiling in alignment with Florence itself. What a treasure! The nuns were warm and open even though we did not share a common language. And it was wonderful listening to them sing at their services! I have recommended Suore Oblate to folks already. A big thank you to everyone.
Phyllis - CA, United States (April 2015)
We had a lovely stay. The room was peaceful, quiet and serene. The sisters were welcoming and lovely. We will return.
Theresa - VA, United States (March 2015)
Very friendly nuns, good simple breakfast.
Cecilia - NY, United States (January 2015)
I had a lovely stay here and would do it again and recommend it to friends and family.
Muthoni - Nairobi, Kenya (November 2014)
Perfect location, five minute walk to Duomo and other sights. The nuns were most gracious. We enjoyed joining them in the small chapel every morning for mass at 7:15. Garden is beautiful. Lovely furniture through out, access to sitting rooms.
Melissa Mercedes - TX, United States (November 2014)
Had a good stay, thank you.
janette - WA, United States (October 2014)
The location as stated was outstanding as was the security and kindness of the nuns. Unfortunately, my room was at the front and yes, very noisy. Shutting the windows and shutters only improved this marginally. I did book six months in advance and requested a room onto the garden but was unsuccessful. However, I still would stay there again as everything else was excellent.
Carla-Donna - New South Wales, Australia (October 2014)
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The Sisters were very sweet and helpful. The Monastery was beautiful. I slept very soundly. The location was perfect. Overall, quite an amazing experience. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.
Jane - Ontario, Canada (September 2014)
My stay with the Sisters at their Borgo Pinti location was a high point of my many visits to Florence. I heard that you could stay in convents, and looked this up. I booked it, arrived on the day, the Sisters accommodated me without drama. My first morning was a Sunday, and I awoke to the sound of gentle singing wafting through my window accompanied by the many church bells ringing in the distance. It was a setting from another time. I stayed 4 days, each was wonderful. Their breakfast is better than most Italian locations with coffee, hot milk, breads, cereals, fresh fruit, etc. all in a beautifully lit breakfast room. The quiet inner courtyard is amazing for Florence, a place that is crowded and often noisy with many travellers. My stay was one that I will never forget, and also, thank you Sister Teresa, for making sure you waited until the concert I went to (at Orsanmichele ) was over. I know it wasn't 11:30, but you did ease my mind when you indicated you would wait until I collected my key from the basket. Truly an awesome experience. I will return again sometime.
Jennifer - FL, United States (September 2014)
Great location - hosts pretty much left you alone. Did try to answer some of our questions, but since we did not speak Italian and the nuns did not speak English- communication was a challenge. Breakfast was not so good: bread was hard and the fruit not fresh. This stay was beneficial because of price, saftet and location. Not big on amenities. The rooms are very small, but it was a place to sleep! This location did offer window screens in our room, something very important to me because bugs that bite tend to find me.
Marian - IL, United States (September 2014)
It was wonderful. The most notable feature was our clean and spacious room. We will definitely recommend this to others.
Christina - NY, United States (September 2014)
The convent was a wonderful building with glorious features and a superb garden. The Sisters were especially kind and helpful. They had limited English and we had very limited Italian. Despite this, the communication was easy. It was one of the most memorable places that we have ever stayed in. If we return to Florence, this is where we would stay. Very central with good places to eat nearby.
Robert - Auckland, New Zealand (August 2014)
Very nice, good service, good location
Shayna - MA, United States (July 2014)
What a gem of a place this is, in the heart of Florence! I found it to be charming and very clean. You can see the back of Duomo dome from one of the lounges. The trade-off means the street below can be noisy. The pix of the gardens are accurate; it is peaceful and beautiful! The nuns do not speak any English but are very sweet and helpful. The internet connection is not great, but there is free WiFi around the Duomo.
I also recommend reserving, ahead of time, a place on the walking tours at www.italy.artviva.com. They were very good and skipping the lines definitely added to the quality of my visit.
Jean - CA, United States (June 2014)
the location was great, wonderful garden. The sisters very friendly and eager to help but do not expect fast service at the check in. Breakfast very basic. Not much acoustic properties to the rooms as it is an old building. Rooms are very basic but sufficient.
Natasha - British Columbia, Canada (June 2014)
Just a great big thank you to the friendly, smiling sisters who did so much to help ...even though I do not speak Italian...all worked out well. I am MOST grateful and would definitely go back and refer it to others.
Patricia - FL, United States (June 2014)
The rooms are clean and plain, but it is a conventual guesthouse. The sisters were welcoming and gracious. If you are expecting a breakfast like you would find at a hotel, look elsewhere. It consisted of cereal, bread, fruit, coffee and juice. Look upon it as the opportunity to get a perspective on how little we really need to flourish. The biggest challenge to this visit was the language barrier. This is totally my responsibility, not theirs, as I am the visitor to their country and their convent. There is a sister who is proficient in English, but her responsibilities keep her hard to be available.
This facility does have a lovely garden to meditate in, and would recommend the facility for a personal retreat. (Granted, an expensive retreat if you are coming from the US for just a retreat, but a great opportunity during a longer vacation to rest for a few days etc...)
Overall, it was a great experience. The only issues were mine and not theirs.
Brent - TX, United States (June 2014)
Very central place in Florence. Lots of eating options close by. Being in single room, it was small but with own bathroom. Monastery is in a former palazzo with very grand rooms. Plenty of space for just sitting. Internet only available in one place not your room. Sisters are lovely and it is worth a stay just for the beautiful and peaceful garden. Great value, would recommend. Anne, Australia
Anne - Victoria, Australia (June 2014)
Breakfast very basic. Only coffee and bread. Beautiful garden. Wonderful staff. Wifi is limited to a small area downstairs.
Anthony - British Columbia, Canada (June 2014)
Hello friends at my Florence Monastery Stay, "Suore oblate dell'Assunzione" on via Borgo Pinti - Thank you for a lovely time at your monastery. It was clean, charming, welcoming (air-conditioning available in my room on a HOT Florence day...mid 90's), quick check-in and out, etc. Above all, it is conveniently located near the central sights of Florence (a 5-10 walk to any museum, the Duomo, and in a good neighborhood). I HIGHLY recommend this as a place to base out of for a 1-3 day stay in Florence.
Ellen - MT, United States (June 2014)
Suore Oblate dell'Assunzione is located on a reasonably quiet street (traffic restricted at night)in the Santa Croce neighborhood, only a short walk from Santa Croce, the Duomo, and other places of interest. So it's extremely well located. Breakfast is simple but includes fresh fruit, which we appreciated. Sister Theresa spoke little English but we communicated well enough through our pidgin Italian and Spanish and "sign language." We had a view of the convent's lovely garden from our corner room and that was a real plus.
Martha - MA, United States (April 2014)
Fantastic location, in the heart of Florence but a quiet street.
The nuns tend to your every need - you only have to ask. Would stay again.
Marita - Victoria, Australia (February 2014)
Peaceful place and the sisters are so welcoming. I was travelling with two other women and we felt very safe at all times! Clean rooms, private bathroom and basic breakfast. There is a great bakery down the street.
Rosemary - CA, United States (December 2013)
We enjoyed our stay and the Sisters are very friendly.
Peter - , United Kingdom (October 2013)
The place was gorgeous with a beautiful yard to sit in and enjoy the quiet. The weather was not too warm so we were able to close the windows and most of the sound from outside was gone.
Michele - GA, United States (September 2013)
Great location. Very peaceful.
Sandra - MA, United States (May 2013)
This convent has an excellent location-about 5-10 minutes to the Duomo. There are also several excellent restaurants and laundromat nearby.
John - GA, United States (May 2013)
The sisters were very friendly. We enjoyed going to Mass in the mornings. The breakfasts were very good. We enjoyed meeting other travelers. Highly recommend.
Richard J - MI, United States (April 2013)
The sisters are incredibly accommodating. They have a computer for free shared use. The central garden is stunningly beautiful. This is all right in the heart of Florence. Their breakfast included fresh fruit: red oranges, pears, bananas, sweet raisin and regular bread, cookies, etc, and hot coffee, tea, and hot milk to make cappuccino or latte. Nearby are stores for sandwiches, kebabs, supermarket, laundry. It was less than a 10 minute walk to the Accademia or the Duomo.
Patricia - MD, United States (April 2013)
Our stay was fantastic. A beautiful place and the sisters were helpful and kind. I would definitely go back.
Jamie - MA, USA (February 2013)
The sisters were wonderful at the Suore Oblate dell'Assunzione - Borgo Pinti. The monastery could not have had a better location.
Adam - IL, United States (December 2012)
The sisters were so kind, and I really felt as though I'd been welcomed into someone's home instead of merely a guest house. They provided a computer with internet access in the commons, travel guides in case you hadn't brought your own, and beautiful sitting rooms where you could read or write. The location is very convenient, and you certainly don't have to go far to get dinner if you arrive in the evening tired and hungry. (Just turn right as you leave the guest house and walk a block.) The only thing I recommend is that if you're traveling during mosquito season to bring some netting just in case.
Megan - IL, United States (October 2012)
The location is excellent. The sisters speak very little English, but they are very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is simple and yet adequate (we appreciate fresh fruit). As others indicate the beds and pillows are a bit hard, but for the most part we slept fine, except for a couple of nights we encountered several mosquitos that I think were because of some recent heavy rainfall.
Julie - Alberta, Canada (October 2012)
Easy walk to many main attractions in Florence. Peaceful retreat. I would stay here again.
Kathleen - KS, United States (October 2012)
The sisters were very friendly and helpful. Other guests seem mostly American and maybe some sisters are French.... I was hoping to practise my Italian more. However very pleasant and tranquil for a city centre location.
Carol - Bucks, United Kingdom (October 2012)
The linens were not changed after 4 days as promised....but overall .....great place...spacious areas beautifully decorated, clean, great location, courteous people, great little pears for breakfast.....good showers...
Dr Charles - British Columbia, Canada (October 2012)
Beautiful building. Room was reminiscent of my college dorm but fine. The bathroom/shower was not private and in the room as I had thought. But, it was just across the hall and functionally private since you could use it alone and there really wasn't anyone else around. It seemed there were several along the hallway. It was very good overall!
Lorraine - FL, United States (September 2012)
Location was quiet yet close to the historical areas.
Robyn - GA, United States (August 2012)
Overall lovely stay but the beds could use improvement and a fan would be very helpful because it was so hot sleeping at night.
Julie - NJ, United States (August 2012)
Outstanding accommodations;easy walk from Train station and close to all major sights. We walked everywhere from this location! Rooms are very clean. Air Conditioning works great! NO WiFi only a
desktop computer (one) for guest use. Never a line or a problem but would have been a 10 in value if there was wifi service in the facility. Sister Stella and Sister Theresa were awesome! Very very limited to no English speaking but this was not a problem. Simple breakfast of breads, breakfast cookies, juice, fruit, jam, butter, tea, coffee. Nice garden and courtyard out back; very peaceful. Nice guest rooms for socializing (TV room, Dining area, different open other rooms upstairs to read, and socialize in after a long day of sighseeing). Overall and outstanding, quiet, safe, clean place to stay. Common use bathrooms are very clean, plentiful, and very very spacious (as compared to the private ones in a guest room which are very tiny). I would stay here again on my next rip to Florence.
Michael - NJ, United States (July 2012)
Sisters were very accommodating. The sitting area outside the breakfast room was very beautiful and peaceful. AC worked very well.
Paul - MA, United States (June 2012)
A beautiful, beautiful convent in a fantastic location, just a few minutes' walk from the Duomo. My room was and en suite bathroom were simple but spotlessly clean and very comfortable. With the temperature hitting 37 degrees outside, air conditioning in my room was very much appreciated (and while it did switch off at midnight, I found you could switch it back on and it continued through the night without any problems). The nuns were delightful, the garden cool, scented and shady and staying here proved to be a wonderful, calm retreat from the heat and the busy tourist crowds outside. A joy.
Aimee - London, United Kingdom (June 2012)
The location was excellent--extremely close to all the sights we wanted to see yet quiet and a bit off the beaten track. The sisters couldn't have been nicer or more helpful (a mixture of our extremely limited Italian and our mediocre French allowed communication). The garden was lovely, the rooms were just as pictured--unadorned, comfortable, air conditioned(!). Wonderful all the way around.
Victoria - CA, United States (June 2012)
Delightful place, delightful gardens, delightful nuns. Would definitely recommend it.
Elizabeth - Victoria, Australia (June 2012)
Shower pressure was poor and water was not hot. Only one computer connected to the Internet and no WiFi meant we had to wait in line to use the computer, but not really a problem. Despite these minor problems, overall we were very happy with the stay.
Jennifer - New South Wales, Australia (May 2012)
Lovely place for a stay in Florence.
Gerard - Victoria, Australia (May 2012)
The sisters were delightful and helpful and the garden was lovely. Nice rooms overlooking the garden. Breakfast was a bit disappointing.
Lenore - Queensland, Australia (April 2012)
The sisters were very warm and welcoming, and we were able to communicate with my very limited Italian and their limited English.
Ann-Louise - South Australia, Australia (April 2012)
This site has no WiFi. There is a single, very slow computer that can be used to access the Internet however. The nuns are very friendly and the location can't be beat. This is really a great way to stay in the best part of the city for a fraction of the cost of a hotel.
Robert - NH, United States (April 2012)
The convent was a very good choice as it is convenient to many of Florence's historic and cultural sites. The accommodation was very good and the sisters were very helpful. The room was spacious and the ensuite was very well appointed. I enjoyed my stay and would use the convent again if I return to Florence.
Mary - , Ireland (April 2012)
The only problem was that my room was rather cold. To sit and read required a blanket across my legs and round my shoulders. Fortunately there were plenty of spare blankets and I was not cold when actuall in bed and sleeping.
Christine - Hertfordshire, United Kingdom (April 2012)
This monastery is amazing! Honestly, I would rather stay here than a 5 star hotel if given the choice (and if the 5 star hotel was paid for :)). The nuns are very friendly and always welcome you with a smile. The setting is picturesque and the photos really do not do the garden justice - serene getaway in the heart of florence. The room was spacious/ clean/quiet/ secure. This venue is well worth a trip to florence.
Wayne - Canterbury, New Zealand (April 2012)
This monastery was beautiful and historic but the accommodations were very basic. There were two beds and no tv. I had to put sheets on my bed because it was unmade. Luckily I found the sheets and blankets in a closet. The next day our room never got cleaned (though I think that's because we were in the room - I was showering) and we couldn't figure out the water heater. We think it was broken, but we couldn't really communicate that to the nuns because they spoke minimal English, so we took cold showers. The breakfast was very basic but you're going to get that everywhere. Overall, I'd still recommend this monastery for its location and as a place to sleep at night for the price.
Grace - NY, United States (April 2012)
We had a very good stay - calm, good atmosphere, friendly staff - helping us with everything we asked for. Thank you!
Eldbjorg - Norge, Norway (March 2012)
Excellent choice. Great location. Nice breakfast. Would highly recommend.
Kat - GA, United States (October 2011)
Perfect location close to everything. The sisters were gracious, helpful and kind. Breakfast was more than satisfactory. The building itself was fascinating, full of interesting details and furniture. It was just what we needed for our stay in the city.
Denise - CT, United States (October 2011)
Great shower. Beautiful garden
Elizabeth - South Australia, Australia (October 2011)
Enjoyed the nuns. Friendly. Ate some fruit which was appreciate here. Very well situated. A brochure would help in English and other languages as well.
Lynne - New South Wales, Australia (October 2011)
Great hospitality from the nuns. We enjoyed a view into the gardens and the monastery is so well located we could see the top of the Duomo from our room window.
David - SA, Australia (October 2011)
Beautiful gardens but pack the insect repellant as there were a lot of mosquitoes.
Julie - New South Wales, Australia (September 2011)
This monastery is wonderful. I would definitely stay here again if I'm lucky enough to ever go back. The nuns were very friendly. The only reason I gave the service a 7 is because communication was extremely difficult given their lack of English and our lack of Italian! The location was minutes walk from the Duomo and close to banks and cafes and restaurants. Very safe and clean. Internet cafe close by also (nuns will show you the way!). Again, we loved our 4 night stay here and were sad to leave.
Zorka - Victoria, Australia (September 2011)
Even though the Sisters could not speak English, I appreciated their friendly welcome which helped me to enjoy my stay. It was great to have access to their beautiful chapel.
The room was large and bed comfortable. I had control of the air-con much to my relief as it was warm. I did not have a view sadly. Great value! The Sisters provided good maps and had plenty of tourist brochures for help so language barriers weren't too much of a problem.
Michelle - South Australia, Australia (July 2011)
Very nice place and the Nuns were friendly and helpful.
The location is ideal - very close (walking distance) to the Duomo and many other interesting places.
Deanna - CA, United States (June 2011)
Very pleasant stay. The breakfast room is clean and airy and the inclusion of breakfast in the price, in addition to being a welcome benefit, means one gets to meet fellow travellers.
Arlen - TX, United States (May 2011)
It is a lovely place, very clean and very convenient. The sister are nice but only one of them really interacted with me at all (I speak some Italian). Other than that it was a lovely, quiet stay and a great location.
Kathy - NY, United States (May 2011)
Beautiful setting with quiet garden. Spacious clean room, very comfortable. Sisters were helpful. Would recommend to friends and and would return again as a guest.
Mary - NY, United States (April 2011)
We enjoyed our stay very much, the sisters couldn't do enough for us they were very friendly and accommodating. The facilities were spotless, the breakfast room light and cheerful and the fresh food delicious. It was great to be able to park the rental car right on the sight. The location was central and terrific for walking to all sights.
Eleanor - CT, United States (April 2011)
It was difficult communicating due to the language barrier. Usually there is someone who is able to communicate a bit of English wherever I've stayed.
Lindsay - MA, United States (April 2011)
Excellent value for money in a very clean quiet and interesting building. The sister are most helpful although they don't speak English. It was great meeting other guests in the breakfast room for a chat each morning. If you are a person that enjoys a big breakfast you may need to eat elsewhere. Great place for solo travellers (especially women). Very secure and peaceful with a fantastic garden.
Deborah - Victoria, Australia (April 2011)
Sisters at Monastery were friendly and pleasant. Room had only one window to enclosed verandah which was open to all and was heavily shuttered,so no natural light in bedroom. Beds were two single open steel bedheads and foam mattresses and pushed together with double bed linen across. Pillows were lumpy and extremely uncomfortable. Separate bathroom was reasonable, roomy and modern.
Ronald - New South Wales, Australia (April 2011)
Monastery was a delight and Sister Theresa was very helpful. Room very good as was the bathroom.
Karen - New South Wales, Australia (March 2011)
What an amazing place to stay! I was so blessed by the kind service of the nuns and the incredible cleanliness and charm of the monastery. It served basic but yummy breakfasts and was very quiet. Although the nuns do not speak much English, they were very kind and I was sad to leave! I certainly will look this place up again for my next visit to Florence.
Sarah - PA, United States (March 2011)
This is a very inexpensive, clean, and welcoming place to stay in Florence. The sisters were incredibly kind and helpful. Our rooms opened to their enormous, private garden. If I am ever lucky enough to return to Florence I would stay there.
Patricia - MD, United States (March 2011)
Clean and pleasant( in the best way) room, perfect location, nuns and all people there were friendly, helpful and kind. The breakfast was not good for me as a person who does not like to eat sugar. Still, I would go there again without question. I loved the atmosphere of this monastery, the layout, the people who let me in and out. I felt safe, it was very quiet and peaceful at all times. I never lost sleep from noise or disturbance. The people who stayed there were all very respectful and not noisy.
Maya - NY, United States (October 2010)
We enjoyed the ambiance and being beautifully cared for as guests in their house. Daily mass; nice breakfast, warm blankets; beautiful house; reasonably large bedrooms; central location - walking distance everywhere; excellent inexpensive restaurant in same street; Huge house, ample facilities. If you want a hotel, go to a hotel, if you want a joyful atmosphere with the nuns and other guests, then it couldn't be more highly recommended.
Virginia - Warwickshire, United Kingdom (October 2010)
The information provided by Monastery stays was very accurate and useful. Really enjoyed staying in this type of alternative accommodation (ie different to staying in an annonymous hotel). Also very central location (but still quiet).
Anna - Victoria, Australia (September 2010)
Fantastic location. Helpful having air conditioning in the heat of Florence. Good, clean facilities.
Sophie - New South Wales, Australia (July 2010)
The place was very clean, but there was not enough food for breakfast. The nuns were very helpful and very sweet.
Laoura - CA, United States (July 2010)
Borgo Pinti was so conveniently placed, and peaceful. The garden is beautiful. The artwork on the walls all over blew my mind. I was able to explore Florence on foot.
Melinda - GA, United States (June 2010)
The room was comfortable and the location was fantastic. The rooms were comfortable and although there was a language barrier the nuns were very friendly and helpful. We did manage to communicate. The location was central and made it extremely easy to get around. There was a bit of a language barrier, but for the most part there was no issue. We could have used the airconditioner in the room to be turned on, but could not figure out how and did not think that by asking we could communicate. It may have been before their air conditioning season, as it was early June, but unseasonably warm. Great location.
Richard - Manitoba, Canada (June 2010)
The very caring, attentive sisters, the cleanliness and attention to detail, the excellent breakfast, the beautiful courtyard garden.
Diane - VA, United States (May 2010)
We enjoyed our time at Suore Oblate in Florence. The sisters were very pleasant. The room was clean, although a bit spartan. The location was superb - very close to the Duomo. The breakfast was very good and offered much opportunity to share with other guests. We also felt very welcome and certainly safe. The room was a bit snug, but it was clean and we really did not spend much time in it other than to sleep. It was definitely adequate for our stay. We would like to return to Italy. Assuming we do so, we would look for Monastery Stay options in other cities.
John - CA, United States (May 2010)
Great people. Great location.
David - PA, United States (April 2010)
Perfect location. Few minutes walk from the historical sites. The sisters were wonderful.
Zina - CA, United States (April 2010)
We weren't sure just what to expect but hoped for a comfortable, clean, convenient and pleasant stay. Very central, Nuns were just wonderful and our lack of Italian was not a problem.
Stewart - Victoria, Australia (October 2009)
Location, near Duomo! Friendly, nuns are sweet. Clean, Great bathrooms!! Not overrun with people, SAFE and quiet. Nice interior. Couldn't bring bicycle inside.
Lisa - ME, United States (September 2009)
My room was larger and more comfortable than I'd expect.
I am a person who likes a big breakfast and I was disappointed in the bread and prepackaged pastries that were offered.
Nancy - NY, United States (September 2009)
Very spacious, well furnished and interesting old building in a very good location. The garden was beautiful and it was interesting having church services in the mornings. The staff were friendly and well disposed. This is not a significant criticism but would have liked cereal and cheese available for breakfast.
Peter - Australian Capital Territory, Australia (August 2009)
Thought it was clean and well kept. The nuns were kind and helpful and helped make our stay pleasant.
John - Queensland, Australia (July 2009)
The ambience and the welcome was wonderful and we realised the Monastery was close to all the attractions,(Florence) but to be within walking distance was a big bonus. The ambience, the peace and quiet, the welcoming Nuns (they were just amazing!!!). The room and private bathroom was spotlessly clean, as was the WHOLE monastery. The ability to ask questions, advice etc., and the 'caring manner' the Nuns provided was very reasuring to us.
Maurizia - Western Australia, Australia (April 2009)
An extremely large room with beautiful fresco on ceiling. Proximity to tourist spots. Garden. Parking. Lovely sisters, very friendly even with limited English.
Hayley - Victoria, Australia (October 2008)
The convent is in a great location, so walking to all points of interest was easy. The sisters were very welcoming and helpful.
Jennifer - New South Wales, Australia (October 2008)
Clean. Sweet nuns. Lovely garden area. Location was good as I like to walk everywhere. Coffee was good. Quiet.
Kathryn - WA, United States (October 2008)
The sisters were very friendly and helpful. They spoke French which was great for us. When we had a problem with our room, they changed our room immediately. Everything was very enjoyable and comfortable. We were able to walk in their beautiful garden.
Diane - CT, United States (October 2008)
Sisters were very helpful. Location excellent. It was very clean, comfortable and bathrooms ensuite were updated. Great restaurant and bakery across street. Internet cafe close. Location within walking distance to major sites.
CLAUDIA - CA, United States (September 2008)
We loved it. The Sisters were there if you needed anything, always ready to help, but quietly in the background. The convent was so clean also the bathrooms.
Carol - PA, United States (May 2008)
The facility was lovely. It was in an excellent location. The nuns were very friendly. Our room was spacious, very clean and the bathroom was new and the shower very good. The garden was always available and we could see it from our room.It was a wonderful place to stay.
Kathy - Ontario, Canada (May 2008)
We realised it would not provide all the facilities of a more expensive, commercial establishment. The location was perfect, placing us within easy walking distance of most of Florence's famous sites. The room was spacious, there was ample storage space, the bathroom was clean, the shower was roomy, the heating was comfortable and the beds were not luxurious but perfectly adequate.
